TA 3 Assembly
ASSEMBLY What a wonderfully entertaining assembly we had this morning with our young hosts from TA 2. Miss King’s class re-told the delightful story of Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy. The colourful variety of dog costumes looked fabulous and the young budding actors carried out their roles with great aplomb. This was followed by an upbeat dance routine to the song Chiwawa. Congratulations to all students and Miss King on a terrific assembly. A list of certificate winners can be found inside this newsletter. Our next assembly will be hosted by our Year 2/3 students from TA 3 on 31 May. P&C MEETING Thank you to those parents who were able to come along to the meeting on Tuesday evening. A number of topics were raised and discussed relating to fundraising, the DUG, uniform orders and the canteen. Minutes of P&C meetings are posted on the school library display board. SCIENCE LAB UPDATE Work is due to commence in the next week on TA 10 converting the room into a science lab. While this work is undertaken the immediate area around TA 10 will be out of bounds due to safety issues. It is expected that the refurbishment will be completed by the end of this term. CYBER SAFETY PARENT SEMINAR (23 May) Coming up on 23 May we will have guest presenters from ySafe at school who will be running workshops for students (PP – Year 6), staff and parents. The parent workshop will be held in the evening in our school library from 6:30 – 7:30pm and is specifically designed to provide parents with up to date information on cyber safety.
The world of social media and technology is fast becoming the centre of our children’s universe. It can be a challenging task for parents to stay on top of the dangers of social media and technology, while monitoring their child’s online behaviour and finding balance.
We are offering a workshop for parents to learn more about managing children’s technology use, including an introduction into the most popular social media platforms and practical tips for keeping kids safe online. We will also cover information on setting boundaries around technology, online behaviour management, and tools for managing technology both in and outside of the home.

Please register for this event by following the link provided. This is an important school event for all parents to attend. Registrations: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/cyber-safety-education-session-tickets-45714859375 SOCIAL DANCE PROGRAM It was great to see this popular program get underway once again in the undercover area. Students were enthusiastically involved and thoroughly enjoying their opportunity to learn some new dance moves. This program is a part of our Health and Physical Education curriculum and it is expected that all students will participate. BIKES SCOOTERS SKATEBOARDS A reminder to all students that bikes, scooters and skateboards are not to be ridden on school grounds for safety reasons. I have had parents report to me that some students are riding in a dangerous manner on the way home. I would strongly urge parents to discuss this with their child if they are riding to school. INTERSCHOOL SPORT Good luck to all students participating in the first round of fixtures tomorrow which will be held at Dalmain.
I would like to wish all mothers a very happy and enjoyable day on Sunday. Hopefully you get spoilt!

National Simultaneous Storytime Wednesday 23 May
National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 18th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6. By facilitating NSS we aim to:
promote the value of reading and literacy,
promote the value and fun of books,
promote an Australian writer and publisher,
promote storytime activities in public libraries and communities around the country
provide opportunities to involve parents, grandparents, the media and others to participate in and enjoy the occasion.
