Remembrance Day
Also known as Poppy Day. It is a memorial day to remember the soldiers who died in the First World War.
The day, specifically designated by King George V on 7 November 1919.
Remembrance Day marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, back in 1918.

The red remembrance poppy has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day due to the poem, “ In Flanders Fields“ . These
poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I; their brilliant red colour became a symbol for the blood
spilled in the war.

The Royal British Legion is a charity to help people in the armed forces and their families.
The Royal British Legion was foundedby veterans of the First World Warwho adopted the poppy as their symbolof Remembrance and hope.

Polish Remembrance Day
For Poland, Remembrance day is also very important. It is calledNational Independence Day (Polish: Narodowe Święto Niepodległości).
On 11 November Poland commemorates the anniversary of the restoration of a Polish state—Second Polish Republic—in 1918 after 123 years of partition by the Russian Empire, the Kingdom of Prussia and the Habsburg Empire. It is a non-working day in Poland.
