It is our pleasure to welcome you back to campus for our annual Black Alumni Reunion. We hope you’ll be able to join us and the East Carolina Alumni Association during Homecoming 2009: 100 Years of Treasured Traditions. The weekend is full of fun activities, including the Homecoming Luncheon, Classroom Experiences, tours of campus, the Alumni Awards Ceremony and Dinner, the annual Step Show, Xtreme Bowling at AMF Lanes, Alumni Breakfast, parade watching, a reunion photo, Alumni Tailgate, Pirates football, and a terrific After Party with DJ Kandid.

We hope you’ll make plans to attend the Black Alumni Reunion today, and we look forward to seeing you in the fall.

Reunion ConfirmationA confirmation letter will be mailed to you upon receipt of your registration. The reservation deadline is Friday, October 9. Tickets to events will not be mailed.

Cancellations/RefundsCancellation and refunds must be submitted in writing (mail, fax, or e-mail) to our office by Friday, October 9. However, the cost of any football tickets and polos cannot be refunded. “No shows” will not be refunded.

Football TicketsTickets to the Rice vs. ECU football game are available as part of the reunion registration and will NOT be sold separately. Football tickets are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Tickets will be distributed during the reunion and cannot be mailed.

Black Alumni Chapter Polo Shirts and the Textbook Gift Certificate Program

See the back of this brochure for information about purchasing Black Alumni Chapter polo shirts. Proceeds from the sale of these shirts benefit our Textbook Gift Certificate program. This program was created as an incentive for minority students to attend ECU and provides five $100 gift certificates good toward the purchase of textbooks at Dowdy Student Stores.

The success of this program depends on the generosity of alumni like you, who value your East Carolina experience and want to make a difference in the lives of tomorrow’s alumni.

The Wingate Inn has a block of rooms for reunion participants for $99.00 per night by calling 252-355-4283. Ask for the “ECU Reunions” block.

10 Years After the Flood: A Reflective Conversation10:00–11:30 a.m.Mendenhall Student Center, Hendrix TheatreFormer Chancellor and 2008 Honorary Alumni Award recipient Dr. Richard Eakin will lead a discussion about the challenging period of East Carolina’s history associated with the flood of 1999. Alumni, students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to take this opportunity to commemorate Hurricane Floyd, the character and integrity that led the University through the episode, and reflect on ECU’s perseverance during a time of disaster.

All alumni and friends are welcome to join the Alumni Association for our annual Homecoming Luncheon. University Leader in Residence Tommy Spaulding ’92 will address how East Carolina continues to excel as the leadership university, and plans to take this responsibility to the next level in the future.
