Facility Member (FM)Allows full use of the Downtown and Dunigan Family YMCAs, including all membership benefits. Members also receive free or reduced pricing on programs.

Program Member (PM)Participants who enroll in individual YMCA programs (swim lessons, basketball, etc.) without being a Facility Member.

Refund PolicyFor YMCA programs, a credit or refund will be given before the first class. Participants have the option of receiving a credit or a cash refund for 80% of their fee. After the first class, refunds and credits are given for medical reasons only. Credits and refunds should be requested at the Member Service Desk or from the program director.

CHILD CAREParents Night OutHey Parents! Enjoy a night out and take the worry out of finding a babysitter. Children ages 3 to 12 will participate in fun activities, games and crafts. A fun snack and drink will be provided. Children must be potty-trained. Children will be separated into age appropriate groups. Space is limited, please register by the Wednesday prior to the event.

Morning and Afternoon Out ProgramsHey parents! Enjoy a few hours out and take the worry out of finding a babysitter. Children ages 3-12 will participate in fun activities including gym games, table games and crafts. Children must be potty-trained. The Youth Activity Center will also be open for children to enjoy the Wii, Xbox Kinect and an interactive snowboarding game. Children will be separated into age appropriate groups. Space is limited, please register at least 3 days prior to the event.

Before/After School CareThe YMCA provides before and after school care where your children can benefit from a positive, fun and supportive environment. Before school activities will include breakfast and time for students to study or participate in a variety of games and activities. After school activities include snack time, arts/crafts, homework, group games, guest speakers and more. The program is available in the following locations: Warrick County School Corporation, Metropolitan School District of Mt.Vernon, Evansville Lutheran School, Christ the King and MSD of North Posey. Ford Center Events ChildcareStarting in September, the Downtown YMCA will be offering childcare during select Ford Center Events. This service is available to both members’ and non-members’ children ages 3-9. Children must be potty-trained. We will provide a range of activities for the children, but ask that a drink and snack be provided by the parent. We will offer childcare for a total of 4 hours per event, accepting children one hour prior to the event’s posted start time. Because space is limited, we ask that you sign your child up 3 days before the event date. The cost for this service will be $20 first child/ $10 second child/ $5 ea. add’l sibling.

EDUCATION AND LEADERSHIP

CAMPS

IN IT TO WIN ITIN IT TO WIN IT, through a partnership with Youth First, Inc., with grant funding from the Old National Bank Foundation, is a FREE leadership program open to 7th and 8th grade youth. Based on the book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens” by Sean Covey, IN IT TO WIN IT is an eight week program which introduces youth to the leadership qualities they already possess and teaches them how to grow stronger in areas such as time management, prioritizing, goal setting and resisting peer pressure as well as building strong relationships with friends and family.

Strengthening Families Through Literacy NEW!Strengthen your relationship with your child and become partners in education. This program is designed for children in grades K-3 children and an adult (parent, grandparent, etc.). The program includes a guest reader, activities and a complimentary storybook from the Evansville Literacy Coalition.

Winter Break Camp, December 26 - 28At Winter Break Camp children will enjoy a variety of activities such as crafts, games, field trips and more. Each child should bring sack lunch, swimsuit & towel daily.

Snow Day CampThe YMCA offers a childcare option for parents caught in a dilemma on days when school is cancelled due to inclement weather. We offer supervised games, swim time, and other fun activities for children K-6. Each child should bring a sack lunch, swim suit and towel daily. A $15 pre-Registration fee is required by 5:00 pm the day before; no registration is allowed same day.

Safe SitterWould you know what to do if a child was choking while you were babysitting? Would you know how to call 911 or how to handle a nosebleed? Safe Sitters will learn all these things and more! Safe Sitter is a nationally recognized babysitting preparation program for boys and girls, 11-13 years of age. Gift Certificates are available for purchase. Students need to bring their own lunch. Manual is included.

ACADEMIC ENRICHMENTYMCA Building Blocks PreschoolHalf-Day Preschool EnrichmentOur half-day preschool includes creative learning, music, physical activities, story time, pre-writing & writing, reading readiness, arts & crafts, devotions and more. Our teachers are the heart of the program. With years of experience working with children and know how to teach children through play. They utilize center-based activities and smart board technology to develop social and academic skills in a Christian environment. There will be an annual $25 curriculum fee which will be due with the first month’s tuition. The books will be kept at school for your child’s use.

ARTS AND HUMANITIESExpress Yourself Art Classes for KidsSession I Watercolor Exploration Children will be experimenting with different watercolor techniques while being inspired by a wide range of historic and contemporary artists. In addition to creating original works of art, students will also learn to properly care for materials.

Session II Gifted Creations Let your little elves express their creativity to make “gifted” creations. This is a class where your child will use a wide variety of materials to create artful gifts just in time for the holiday season.

High School Swim ConditioningThis class will focus on conditioning for your high school swimming season. Swimmers will focus on improving competitive swimming skills, which will include racing starts, flip turns, stroke mechanics and endurance. Each session will consist of a half hour of dry land training followed by an hour of pool work 3 times per week.

Riptides Stroke Technique ClinicThis month long clinic is an excellent introduction to the sport of competitive swimming and is a great lead up for any swimmer wishing to participate with the YMCA Riptides swim team. It’s also a great way for current swim team members to brush up on their skills. Participants will be presented with the four competitive strokes, starts and turns, and introduced to various drills and workouts for each. This class meets 3 days per week.

Riptides Swim TeamOn the YMCA swim team, everyone is a champion. The emphasis is on having fun and doing one’s best. The team is open to all children ages 6-18. Swimmers must be able to complete 50 meters (2 lengths of the pool) without stopping, have the ability to swim freestyle and backstroke, and complete at least an hour practice. A free trial period is available for those kids who want to try the team for a week.

Y Cheerleading NEW!Cheerleading is now at the Y! Cheerleading offers the opportunity for kids to develop self reliance and self confidence on an individual level while stressing the importance of teamwork within the squad. Cheerleaders will learn basic skills, chants, cheers, jumps and experience the performance aspect of cheerleading as cheer at the Youth Basketball games.

Youth Basketball Personal TrainingTake your basketball game to the next level with 15 year veteran basketball trainer, Troy Sowders. As a basketball instructor, he has over 15,000 hours of personal training experience plus countless hours of camp, clinic, league and team instruction.

Level 2 GymnasticsNow that you have mastered the perfect cartwheel and fundamentals on the bars, beam, and vault, it is time to move onto the next level with this class. Emphasis will be placed on strength and flexibility as you move into more advanced skills and stations. Participants now add a one-hand cartwheel, 3 second handstand, back bend from a standing position and pull-over on bars. Saturday classes are held in the Multi-Purpose room.

Dance and Rythmic GymnasticsThis class is the perfect combination of gymnastics and dance performing with equipment instead of on equipment. Students will perform jumps, tosses, leaps, and other moves helping to develop grace, dance skills, and coordination. Classes are held in the Multi-Purpose room.

Level 1 GymnasticsWe strive to help each child reach their personal best by working towards their goals with our self-paced skill progression program. Homeschool Swim for FitnessParents looking for a class to supplement a physical education curriculum will find it here. Children 6-18 years of age will learn/improve all four strokes with emphasis on correct form, conditioning and stretching. 33 The SeriesA Journey to Authentic Manhood as Modeled by Jesus in His 33 Years on Earth

The YMCA is partnering with Crossroads to offer a new 6-week men’s course called “33-The Series”. Starting with meaningful insights into the current state of manhood, it helps men navigate through some manhood realities that have created cultural confusion. 33 unfolds God’s manhood mandates for all men and offers a clear definition of Authentic Manhood that helps men on their journey. This series is produced by Men’s Fraternity and is an excellent course for men.
