I would like to welcome you all to the 2013 World Corporate Golf Challenge World Final. This year marks our 20th Anniversary and I am delighted we are celebrating this milestone back in the UK where this event originally began. I am even more delighted that we are in Scotland, the Home of Golf and specifically at De Vere Cameron House and The Carrick on Loch Lomond. Both are truly wonderful venues that you will all get a lot of enjoyment out of.

I would like to congratulate all of our competitors who have qualified for the World Final. It is not every day you have the chance to represent your businesses and country on a worldwide stage against competitors from more than twenty five countries. I am sure this will be a challenge that you will treasure for life.

I understand everyone’s goal is to win, but I would like to remind you that the true spirit of this competition is to build friendships, camaraderie, meeting people from other countries and cultures, to do business and of course have fun.

I am delighted to welcome two time Major winner, Ryder Cup legend and WCGC Global Ambassador Tony Jacklin to this year’s World Final. It is an honour to have Tony Jacklin as our Global

Ambassador and he will be present throughout the week. I am also delighted to welcome 1989 European Tour Order of Merit Winner and Ryder Cup player Ronan Rafferty and WCGC Ambassador and Trick Shot King Jeremy Dale to this year’s World Final.

During the next six days we will be at your disposal for anything you might need.

Lastly I would like to thank De Vere, VisitScotland and all of our sponsors for all their hard work and generous contributions in making this a great event.

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2013 World Corporate Golf Challenge World Final, this year held at De Vere Cameron House and The Carrick Golf Course on Loch Lomond in Scotland.

For the first time in the history of the World Corporate Golf Challenge we are delighted to bring the World Final to Home of Golf and the world-renowned bonnie banks of Loch Lomond in Scotland. The Carrick on Loch Lomond is a stunning course with dramatic landscape and golf holes that overlook spectacular views of Loch Lomond. In recent years The Carrick has played host to the Ladies Scottish Open and to the PGA Cup.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Host Venue Partners De Vere, The Carrick Golf Course and Cameron House. I would also like to thank VisitScotland. Both the enthusiasm and help from De Vere and VisitScotland have been invaluable in our preparations for this World Final. I am certain that the World Corporate Golf Challenge will provide a great platform to showcase what The Carrick, Cameron House, Scotland and the local area have to offer to the global golfing audience and I am in no doubt that the legendary Scottish hospitality that all of you will receive will make this year’s World Final a truly memorable occasion.

Finally I would like to congratulate all of our competitors from around the world who have qualified for the World Corporate Golf Challenge World Final. I wish you the best of luck in

representing your company and country, but most of all have fun doing it. This will be a week that you will never forget.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 2013 World Finals in Scotland at the wonderful Cameron House. I know you’ll have a great week and make new friends with likeminded people from all around the globe.

In 1970, I led the US Open going into the final round. That morning, I found a piece of paper stuck to my locker with the word TEMPO handwritten by the great Tom Weiskopf. This was the most

simple but yet most valuable piece of advice anyone could have given me in preparing for the final round that eventually led me to victory. So remember, if you find yourself in contention on the 18th tee in the final round with the opportunity to become World Champions, think of one word only. TEMPO!

I wish you all the very best of luck and I look forward to meeting you all over the course of the week.

In 2012 Portugal continued it’s great love affair with the WCGC by becoming World Champions for a record breaking fourth time at last year’s event which was held at Fancourt in George, South Africa from the 1st – 6th May 2012. The team of Nevada Bob’s Golfe, represented by the ‘two Joses’ Jose Rodrigues and Jose Ressureicao, came out on top after the two days of competition and below talk to the WCGC about their success and the event as a whole. WCGC - Can you describe the feeling of being WCGC World Champions once again?

JR- The feeling of being WCGC World Champions is magnificent and to have played on one of the best courses in South Africa is amazing. We are a small country with few traditions in golf and we hope that with this victory we are able to bring more young golfers to the game and also promote this magnificent tournament.

WCGC- How did you qualify in order to represent both your company and country at the 2012 World Finals?

JR- We played in the Algarve Regional qualifier with 36 other teams. After two days of competition with highly competitive teams and an excellent level of golf, we managed to finish in second place which secured us a place in the Portugal National Final.

The National final was played on the same course in the Algarve, and on the day we managed to put in an excellent performance securing victory that took us to the 2012 World Final.

The Portuguese organisation and more specifically the brothers Manuel and Daniel Di Pietro did an excellent job.

WCGC- What does it mean to be at an event like this and represent your company and country?

JR- It is very rewarding to play in this tournament, both in Portugal during the qualifying stages of the event and then at the World Final where we had the cance to represent not only our country but also our company. The fact that our company Nevada Bobs Golfe is connected directly with golf means we can mix business with pleasure at the same time!

WCGC- What are your thoughts on Fancourt, and this wonderful part of South Africa?

JR- Fancourt is a unique golf destination, with three magnificent golf courses and the local city of George is very attractive. The surrounding areas of natural beauty really made me feel that I was truly in Africa.

WCGC - Did the event live up to your expectations both on and off the golf course?

JR- It was indeed amazing! We had one week here and everything was just perfect. This is the second time we have won this magnificent tournament, both times at Fancourt. Even if we had not played here before we would still say the same things about this event and place. It is a wonderful part of the world and a world class event.

WCGC- Will you be looking to qualify and defend your title at the 2013 World Final?

JR- Although we are not thinking about it quite yet as we are still enjoying becoming 2012 World Champions, when the time comes we will look to defend the title in 2013.

“The feeling of being WCGC World Champions is magnificent and to have played on one of the best courses in South Africa is amazing”

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS

16

20 years is nothing in the evolutionary process of humanity. 7,300 days, 175,200 hours and more than ten million and a half minutes... are, however, huge numbers if we refer to an event, especially if it is a sporting one.

It all started in 1993 when John Mitchell and his partner Bobby Moore, former star of English football, decided to create an event with the intention of participating companies to provide an environment to develop their relationships with customers, suppliers and partners. Thus arose the World Corporate Golf Challenge, a golf competition open to companies and UK based agencies, next step was to choose the prestigious newspaper The Times as the event Media Partner.

The success marked WCGC life from its beginning and, already in its first edition, 5,600 players far exceeded the most optimistic expectations, a crucial fact in the international expansion process of the event. Just a little later, in 1996, the event made the leap to other countries around the world, and it was in this year when we had the first World Final, with a share of close to 15 countries.

The success of the concept itself, next to the cliché that “Golf and business are a great combination” did the rest. Today, the WCGC is the largest and most successful golf event for companies in the world. Current figures speak about 30 participating countries, more than 60 TV channels, 26 newspapers and 24 magazine associates, 16 leading airlines, all of them of international recognition and prestige, which speaks very clearly of the magnitude of the event.

In 2013 we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the event that John Mitchell and Bobby Moore created in London back in the year 93 of the last century!

20 years of collective effort to manage the project in the present ,and to those who over the years, have dedicated their effort, enthusiasm, personal and collective commitment to the WCGC to remain a success story.

The times we live in those who have a responsibility to keep progressing and improving the event, are not easy: the social and economic climate worldwide in recent years is delicate, which makes our work and that of our partners and licensees in different countries a complicated task, but also extremely pleasant, when we see that the projects in which both effort and dedication have been invested, are seeing the light, and in many other cases are being consolidated.

We find ourselves in a moment of celebration. We meet the 20th anniversary of a long process in which the WCGC has grown, it has expanded across five continents, has matured as an event, and now it’s time to congratulate all those involved, who have turned the event into what it is today. Congratulations, then, to all investors, staff, licensees, media partners, host venues, suppliers and, particularly, to our hosts of the 20th World Finals, De Vere, Visit Scotland, SDI and, of course, to so many companies around the world who have participated, in one way or another, in the WCGC.José Guerra, WCGC Chairman.

ABOUT TONY JACKLIN, CBE, RYDER CUP WINNING CAPTAIN, BRITISH OPEN AND US OPEN WINNER

Tony Jacklin, CBE is one of the world’s most iconic golf players. He first came to prominence in the late 1960s, where his class, style and elegance revolutionized the game.

MORE ABOUT TONY’S ILLUSTRIOUS CAREER

Tony’s remarkable exploits and brilliance revitalized British and European golf in the nineteen sixties and seventies. For four seasons - from 1969 to 1972 - there was no brighter star in golf’s haloed elite than Tony Jacklin. At the age of 25 he broke every performance record in the history of British golf. In doing so, he did for British, and in turn European golf, what Arnold Palmer did for the game and its kudos in America.

CONQUERING THE OPEN IN THE UK AND USA 1969- 1972

In 1969 Tony became the first British player since Max Faulkner, in 1951 to win the British Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes. One year later, Tony achieved even greater heights when he became the first player since Ben Hogan to hold both the U.S. and British Open titles simultaneously, following his triumph at Hazeltine Golf Club. He won by 7 clear strokes, leading from start to finish, amidst testing weather conditions, leaving the greatest players of the day in his wake.

In September 1969, The Ryder Cup was played at Royal Birkdale, ending in an historic tie between the two teams, the climax of which saw the final singles dual between Tony Jacklin and Jack Nicklaus. The match ended all square, with the legendary moment being Jack’s famous concession of Tony’s final putt.

GOLF LEGEND TONY JACKLIN, WCGC GLOBAL AMBASSADOR

In 2011 the World Corporate Golf Challenge were delighted to announce two time Major winner and Ryder Cup Captain Tony Jacklin as the official Global Ambassador, an association that we are extremely excited to be continuing with this year.

19

This extraordinary gesture personified the sportsmanship and total respect that lies at the very heart of the game to this day.

Shortly after his US Open victory, Tony returned to Europe to play on the European Tour. In 1972, the season consisted of only 20 tournaments, of which 12 were in the United Kingdom, with the other being in Ireland. Over the next three decades the Tour gradually expanded and became a global institution in the game. There is no doubt that Tony’s international acclaim played a critical role in the development and enhanced profile of the European Tour, particularly in the areas of global image and TV rights. Without Tony’s influence many of the great players would not have benefited from the opportunities that formed his legacy, and that still exist today.

1983 – 1989 - ‘THE RYDER CUP YEARS’

Tony also has an extraordinary track record as a Ryder Cup player and the very fact that he was four times Ryder Cup captain makes him synonymous with the history of the tournament that dates back to 1927.

It was here that Samuel Ryder, a seed merchant in St Albans, Hertfordshire, England, started the competition, between an American and British team. Over the decades the British team evolved into a European team, with the Americans still enjoying the lion share of the victories.

It was in this tournament that Tony Jacklin continued to pursue his ambitions in life and in 1983 he accepted the role of European Ryder captain, embarking on the next chapter of his golf career.

In this role he elevated and transformed the role of the European team in the Ryder Cup to its current status.

His approach started a revolution that eventually ended the U.S. domination to establish parity between the teams. This began when his European team almost pulled off an improbable upset in 1983. However, the defeat only served to inspire and build the European team’s competitive spirit – in turn igniting the intense rivalry that exists to this day. In 1985 he was the inspirational non-playing captain for Europe’s first victory in the Ryder Cup in 28 years.

It was a historic moment for the Europeans and the famous images of Tony’s child like grin as he wrapped his arms around the trophy was almost as big as the Ryder Cup itself.

Tony is one of the very few players to be invited to become an honorary member of the Royal and Ancient.

He was also inducted to the World Golf Hall of Fame and was awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) for his services to golf.

He also introduced an elegant style to the European team, both on and off the course. Few people in sports become champions and legends – Tony has done both, with grace, humility and above all, natural talent.

Today, Tony Jacklin owns the Jacklin Design Group based in Bradenton, Florida, USA operating in the golf course design and development business. Tony Jacklin, as President and CEO of the company, manages a talented and dedicated team of full-time staff and consultant associates, all of whom are experienced in the their fields. The company prides itself on developing long-term mutually beneficial relationship with clients, and with Tony’s personal involvement in every project, clients are assured of the quality of service, attention to detail and professionalism for which Tony Jacklin is respected around the world.

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS

20

Today, golf is an international sport, played by an estimated 60million people over more than 31,000 courses in hundreds of countries. It is an industry worth tens of billions of pounds each year, which has made household names out of scores of its most talented players.

For all that, however, it has and always will have only one true home: Scotland.

Scotland is awash with great places to play. Away from the well established Open Championship venues of St Andrews and Turnberry, there are countless more great tests to enjoy. Kingsbarns, Castle Stuart, Royal Aberdeen, Leven Links, Murcar Links, Blairgowrie, Western Gailes, Gullane - the big names just roll off the tongue.

And then there are the ones you might not have heard of before but which are all guaranteed to give you great experiences. They include the likes of Campsie, Auchterarder, Braemar, Forres, Hawick, Ardeer and so on.

You might think that the privilege of experiencing these great courses would come with a big price tag attached, but you would be wrong. Golf in Scotland is both affordable and accessible to all. Whatever your budget you will be able to find a course to suit.

There’s a myth that you cannot play some of Scotland’s most decorated courses, but it is just that, a myth. One of the best things about golf in Scotland is that it offers you the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of legends by playing the same courses as them. Even The Old Course at St Andrews is open to visitors.

There is no other way to put it: golf is an intrinsic and important part of the fabric of life in Scotland. It is one of our greatest exports, our proudest invention, our national sport. To sample it, is to love it. We all do, and we are certain you will too.
