prayer requests at this time:

-They are in need of more volunteers.

Bible Reading: Matthew 18:15-35; Acts 25:13-27; Psalm 41; Leviticus 11-13

Matthew 18:15-20 provides instructions for a Church Discipline. Sadly,

this New Testament practice has been ignored by many in today’s

New Testament churches. The claim of love and tolerance has allowed

unrepentant sin to compromise a congregation’s ability to glorify our

Lord. The politically correct culture has become the authority instead

of our Lord’s clear and repeated words. Church Discipline/Resto-

ration is a time to protect the flock and to help those who sin come

to repentance. Church Discipline is not an angry process where the

body seeks to kick people out, but a patient, loving, on-going and

often heart-breaking plea to repent of gross sin. Many of our church

members have come from churches who have practiced Church Disci-

pline to the glory of God. However, some of our members have never

been a part of a church that obeys the Lord in this way. In order to be

helpful in this area we recommend the following resources to help you

understand more about this process as it is outlined in Scripture. 1)

Church Discipline Primer” http://9marks.org/article/church-discipline-

primer/ 2) Attend the next “Get to Know” meeting at Canyon Prescott

where Church Discipline is taught. 3) Blog post by John MacArthurfrom Grace To You: “Church Discipline” http://www.gty.org/resources/

Bible Reading: Matthew 17:1-13; Acts 23:12-35; Psalm 38; Leviticus 1-4

Blog post and sermon audio by Erik Raymond entitled,“Hearing the Gospel at the Tabernacle: A Study in Leviticus”

http://blogs.thegospelcoalition.org/erikraymond/2009/05/14/hearing-the-gospel-at-the-tabernacle-a-study-in-leviticus/

Bible Reading: Matthew 17:14-27; Acts 24; Psalm 39; Leviticus 5-7

Read Matthew 17:20 again and meditate on the verse

and what John MacArthur states: “Small faith can accom-

plish great things only if, like a mustard seed, it grows

into something greater than it was. Only when small faith

grows into great faith can it move a mountain. Mustard

seed faith is persistent faith. It continues to grow and be-

come productive because it never gives up.”

Pray that your faith is like that of a mustard seed. A faith

that is persistent and continues to grow.

Bible Reading: Matthew 16:1-12; Acts 22; Psalm 37:1-22; Exodus 35-37

1. Can you identify areas in your life where you are reluc-tant/failing to follow Christ? Remember that repentanceincludes confession and a change of direction. Confessthis area to the Lord and seek to honor Him by makingdiscernable changes by the power of the Holy Spirit and

for His glory.

2. Pray specifically that the Lord would use you speak theWord of God into somebody’s life. A great way to prayaccording to the will of God is to pray Scripture. Here aresome passages that you could pray (Col 3:16; 1 Pet 4:11; Is55:11; Rom 10:14). As you continue to grow in knowledgeof Him, may the Lord give you greater understanding andgreater zeal to help others.

Bible Reading: Matthew 16:13-28; Acts 23:1.11; Psalm 37:23-40; Exodus 38-40

In Exodus 38-40 we see numerous prescriptions for Taberna-cle worship. God’s glory comes at the end of the book. Thisindicates His favor upon the corporate and individual worshipthat took place in the Tabernacle. The New Testament alsogives us a plethora of commands for the Christian life. We livein a day and age where “worship” can mean whatever peo-ple want it to mean. Some people neglect the assembling ofthemselves together at a corporate worship gathering (Heb10:24-25) and don’t think it matters. Others refuse to be recon-ciled to other Christians in a dispute and think that they canstill offer pleasing worship to God (Matt 5:21-26). Exodus 38-40 should cause us, the NT church to remember that God isspecific in how He desires to be worshiped and approached.Pray today for God to give you the heart of a true worshiper, reflected in Psalm 112:1 “Praise the LORD! Blessed is the manwho fears the LORD, who greatly delights in his command-ments!”
