From the Library Director
Greetings!
It is wonderful to see so many familiar names again in this year’s Annual
Report. With your help, we are becoming more of what you want us to be. We offer more
opportunities, edification, entertainment, services and the books you love to read!
We are the place where you want to be to meet, study, work, collaborate, enjoy the gardens
and watch the birds. We are a cooling place in the summer and a warming place in the winter.
We are where you go to charge your devices and latch onto our wireless when your power
goes out.
This year, we added 2,800 additional square feet to our building, including a remodeled
children’s area, a new tween area, a second meeting room, two additional restrooms, and a
separate entrance to the meeting room.
We switched out the florescent lighting to LED fixtures over most of the public and staff areas,
repaired and resurfaced the parking lot, landscaped the septic field area, added a second shed
for our talented gardeners, the original to be used by the Friends book store. We renovated
the kids’ restroom. We increased capacity of the Friends bookstore by switching out shelving.
We rotate monthly displays of artwork by local artists in the Adult area, added special furniture
in the toddler area, added new matching ergonomic chairs for staff, a puppet theater, the cu-
pola, a large screen television in fireplace area to showcase special events, literacy kits for kids,
a bird feeder in our patio garden, more memorial bricks and stepping stones and a third
reference desk in the Teen area to better serve you. Norbert will soon have a new home, a
natural habitat, ready to meet and greet the kids entering the newly renovated children’s area.
Much of what I described was paid from library funds … but not all. It is through your
generosity that we now have the extras … the icing on the cake, the things outside our budget.
We, and our community, appreciate the gifts you give! You make a difference … every day.
My regret is that we don’t thank you enough. Let this be a letter of thanks showing our
gratitude, every hour of every day.
Thank you,
Donna
Library Director
