brought devastating, over-whelming reprisals.Drs. Lazowski and Matulewicz decided to resistanyway, and their solution was brilliant. Theyknew that the Germans were terrified of a typhusoutbreak. So they injected dead typhus bacteriainto various patients, then sent blood samples tothe German authorities. The blood testedpositive for typhus.
