Library Monitors/STEAM Team

Next week I will be inviting all of our student leaders to an afternoon tea where we will discuss the great things that are happening at our fabulous school and any issues or concerns they may have. Congratulations to all our leaders for 2019. I know you will all carry out your duties with pride. Visitors All visitors are required to report to the office upon entering the school. This includes all volunteers and classroom helpers, as well as contractors. It is a requirement that visitors sign into the office and sign out again upon leaving. For Health and Safety reasons we need to know who is on school premises at any given time. At Orchard Hills PS we welcome parent helpers in the classroom or in the school canteen or as a member of the P & C. When you volunteer in any capacity, it is a requirement that we obtain a ‘Declaration for Volunteers’ form. These forms can be completed at our office and are filed as per our legal obligation towards protection of the students at our school. Attendance Following an absence from school you must ensure that within 7 days you provide your child’s school with a verbal or written explanation for the absence. However, if the school has not received an explanation from you within 2 days, the school may contact you to discuss the absence. Please remember that the Skoolbag app is an accepted method of explaining an absence. Please do not use Class Dojo to inform a class teacher of a reason for your child’s absence. It is very important that all students who arrive after the 9am bell report to the office for a late slip. This procedure ensures that the partial absence is recorded correctly on the system.

Permission to Publish Thank you to all families who have returned the Permission to Publish form that went out last week. If you are yet to return your form, please do so as a matter of importance. If you have misplaced your note please obtain another one from the office. Car Park Thank you to all the parents who are taking extra care in the car park during school drop off and pick up times. It is extremely important that all visitors adhere to the parking guidelines that have been established for the safety of students and the whole school community. Please ensure that you do not park in the turning circle to pick your child up. All cars must park in the church car park. The parking guidelines are listed below for your information.

1.Students should not walk through the car park unsupervised. Please park your car and walk into the school or wait on the grassed area outside the hall to meet your child.

2. Reverse park to the curb only. 3. Drive slowly and be aware of pedestrians, especially small children. 4. Do not park on the grassed area outside the hall. This creates visibility issues. 5. As a courtesy, cars exiting the car park should allow for cars entering by waiting at the top of the driveway. This limits a dangerous traffic build up along Kingswood Road. 6. Do not park around the outside edge of the bus bay turning circle. 7. Student should not be picked up from the staff car park gate. Pick up and drop off is from the Church Car Park only. These guidelines have been developed with advice from the Health and Safety Team.

Get involved in the School Banking program. Orchard Hills Public School is excited to offer the Commonwealth Bank School Banking program to all students. School Banking is a fun, interactive and engaging way for young Australians to learn about money and develop good savings habits. Children who deposit money into their Youthsaver account through School Banking earn Dollarmites tokens, which they can save up and redeem for exciting re-wards. The rewards available during 2019 are: Scented Stackable Highlighters

Snowy Origami Set

Icicle Slapband Ruler

Yeti Fluffly Notepad

Arctic Owl Fluffy Keyring

Scratch Art Cards

Water Skimming Bounce Ball

Polar Pencils & Pencil Toppers School Banking is also a great fundraiser for our school. Our school receives a Regular Savers Con-tribution of $5 for every 10 deposits processed per student as well as an Annual Contribution which is based on the number of students who made at least one School Banking deposit in the prior year. Getting involved in School Banking is easy! All you need to get involved in the School Banking program is a Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver ac-count. You can open an account for your child in one of two ways: 1. Online Visit commbank.com.au/schoolbanking and click on the link to open a Youthsaver account. 2. In branch Visit a Commonwealth Bank branch with identifica-tion for yourself and your child, like a driver’s licence and birth certificate. If your child has an existing Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account they can start banking straight away. They just need to bring their deposit in every week on School Banking day using their Dollarmites deposit wallet. School Banking day is Tuesday. If you would like to know more about School Bank-ing, please ask for a 2019 School Banking program information pack from the school office or visit commbank.com.au/schoolbanking
