Vertical or Horizontal?

This commandment is vertical because it has to do with saying the name of god and has no other human interaction associated with it.

what does it mean?

The third commandment which is do not say the lords name in vain which means do not use his name in bad terms or a bad phrase for example oh my god.

positive restatement

use the lords name under good circumstances

Vain: Producing no results,useless

Name: a word or set of words by which a person, animal, place, or thing is known, addressed, or referred to.

If the commandment were kept

If the commandment were kept the person would only use the word god in church or if having a conversation about god. If this were broken than the person would say things like oh my god and tons of other things we are not allowed to say in school.

what does this teach

This commandment teaches that god is the greatest for someone to use his name in a bad way.
