1.0 SCOPE

This specification covers the supply of piping materials for the Project.

Substitutions shall not be made without the prior written approval of the Engineer.

2.0 STANDARD CODES AND SPECIFICATIONS

Piping materials shall conform to the latest editions of the standards shown on the individual line classification sheetsunless otherwise approved in writing by the Engineer.

Material specification sheets are provided in Appendix A, however materials specified on design drawings shall takeprecedence over this specification. Conflicts shall be brought to the attention of the Engineer for rectification.

All pipework shall be fabricated, installed and tested in accordance with Piping Specification 5026-PS-002 - PipingFabrication, Installation and Testing.

Valve types will be identified by means of pictorial representations design drawings and numbered in accordance withPiping Specification 5026-PS-003 - Valve Schedule.

All valving will be free issued by the Engineer, unless noted otherwise in the contract documentation.

All piping operating above 60C shall be insulated for personnel protection, excluding piping higher than 2.5m above anyfloor, platform or walkway and greater that 1.5 m horizontally from any handrail or ladder.

Non standard items will be assigned a unique identifying instrument number on design drawings and instrument lists andwill be free issued by the Engineer.

Any discrepancy between the design drawings and this specification shall be brought to the attention of the Engineer forrectification.

3.0 IDENTIFICATION AND CLASSIFICATION OF PIPELINES

3.1 Identification

Pipelines shall be identified on the piping drawings by a unique number in accordance with an alpha-numeric system comprising fiveelements:

Element 1 - Numeric

Two or three digits indicating nominal pipe size.

Element 2 - Alphabetic

Two or three capital letters indicating pipeline contents class.

Element 3 - Alpha-numeric

One capital letter and one number indicating piping materials class.

Element 4 - Numerical

Two or three digits indicating sequential line number within that pipeline contents class and piping materials class.

Element 5 - Alphabetic

Two letters, either TI (Thermal Insulation), HT (Heat Tracing) or PP (Personnel Protection. Note, however, that Element5 is only utilized where required.

An indicative line number is therefore 80-SS-S2-010-PP, where:

2. Fire Water (FW) working pressure for P2 pipe will depend on the design of the fire water system. Typical fire water systems aredesigned and tested to 1034kPag, and nominal working pressure can be in the range of 275kPag to 689kPAg.
