Upcoming Events
Our parish Confirmations will be held on Monday, June 26 at 7pm in St. Nicholas Parish. The penitential act and confes-sions will be held on Monday, June 19 at 7:30pm, also in St. Nicholas.
The Saint Mary’s Rosary Society meeting will take place on Saturday, June 10th at 1pm in the church.
A special Diocesan dinner in celebration of the Diocesan 80th Anniversary will be held at the new Legacy Castle on Route 23 South in Pequannock, New Jersey on Friday evening, September 8th, 2017 beginning at 6:30 pm. For tickets please got to the website: rcdop.org/80. Thank you!

THIS MONTH’S LITURGY AT A GLANCE
This month’s liturgy marks the completion of the Easter cycle and celebrates some of the greatest mysteries of the Christian faith before the transition to Ordinary Time. The rites of sprinkling holy water, the lighting of the paschal candle, and the repetition of Easter hymns continue throughout the month. Pentecost, the birth of the Church, is a feast rich in symbols and rituals, with the Gospel procession with can-dles and incense, and the Sequence Veni, Sancte Spiritus. The next Sunday we cele-brate the Most Holy Trinity; after having celebrated the high point of the mystery of redemption during the Triduum and Easter season, the Church reflects on the most central mystery of faith. This Sunday emphasizes the sign of the cross and the sign of our surrender to God. Then we have a feast full of life, Corpus Christi, which also has its own sequence; this is a great tradition in many Hispanic countries, as the Holy Sacrament is taken out to the streets in solemn procession. In June we also celebrate Father’s Day. As with Mother’s Day, this celebration should not be so central as to obscure the liturgy, but a special blessing and prayer for fathers should be included. In addition, June has some important celebrations of saints, which have their own liturgy: the Birth of Saint John the Baptist, who is the patron of Puerto Rico, on the 24th; and the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, the two pil-lars of the Church, on the 29th.
PANORÁMICA DE LA LITURGIA DE ESTE MES
La liturgia de este mes marca la finalización del ci-clo pascual y celebra algunos de los mas grandes miste-rios de la fe cristiana antes del paso al Tiempo Ordinario. Los ritos de aspersión de agua bendita, el encender el ci-rio pascual y la repetición de himnos de Pascua conti-núan durante todo el mes. Pentecostés, fiesta del nacimiento de la Iglesia, es una fiesta rica en símbolos y rituales, con la procesión del
Evangelio con velas e incienso, y la Secuencia del Espíritu Santo. El próximo domin-go celebramos la Santísima Trinidad; después de haber celebrado el punto culminan-te del misterio de la Redención durante el triduo y la Pascua, la Iglesia reflexiona so-bre el misterio más central de la fe. Este domingo se acentúa la señal de la cruz como signo de nuestra entrega a Dios. Entonces tenemos una fiesta llena de vida, Corpus Christi, que también tiene su propia secuencia; esta es una gran tradición en muchos países hispanos, donde se hacen procesiones por las calles con el Santísimo Sacra-mento. En junio también se celebra el Día del Padre. Al igual que con el Día de la Ma-dre, esta celebración no debe ser tan central como para oscurecer la liturgia, pero una bendición especial y la oración para los padres deben de ser incluidos. Además, junio tiene importantes celebraciones de los santos, que tienen su propia liturgia como el nacimiento de San Juan Bautista, patróno de Puerto Rico, el 24; Y la fiesta de los san Pedro y san Pablo, las dos columnas de la Iglesia, el día 29.

Annual Corpus Christi Food Collection for the Poor
Due to unprecedented requests for assistance from Catholic Charities’ food pantries and in order to fulfill our obligations to the poor, Bishop Serratelli has authorized a Diocesan wide food collection in all parishes and agencies on the Feast of Corpus Christi, Saturday/Sunday, June 17-18, 2017. We will start collecting on June 10-11, 2017. We are all being asked to bring assorted food products on that day. St. Mary’s Assumption has been asked to pro-
vide cereal. Please mark the above dates of June 10-11 and June 17-18 as the food collection day in order to help those in need in our Diocesan community of Morris, Passaic, and Sussex Coun-ties.

Caridades Católicas-Diócesis de Paterson
Colección Anual de Comida de Corpus Christi para los Pobres
Debido a las solicitudes sin precedentes de asistencia de las despensas de las Caridades Católicas y para cumplir con nuestras obligaciones con los po-bres, el Obispo Serratelli ha autorizado una colecta diocesana de alimentos en todas las parroquias y agencias en la Fiesta del Corpus Christi, el sábado y domingo 17 y 18 de junio, 2017. Comenzaremos a recolectar el 10-11 de junio de 2017. A todos se nos pide traer productos alimenticios variados ese día. Se le ha pedido a la Asunción de María que proporcione cereales. Por favor, marque las fechas del 10 al 11 de junio y del 17 al 18 de junio como días de recolección de ali-mentos para ayudar a los necesitados en nuestra comunidad diocesana de los condados de Morris, Passaic y Sussex.
