BOTE DE RESCATE RESCUE BOAT ( SOLAS
Narwhal "SV-420" es un bote de rescate que cumple la reglamentacion SOLAS-1974 y todas sus posteriores enmiendas, asi como la Directiva 961981CE enmendada por la directiva 2002/75/CE sobre equipos marinos. Su principal objetivo es el rescate de personas que esten
- en el agua asi como concentrar y remolcar balsas salvavidas. Para su total operatividad debe ser cornpletado con un motor fuera-borda y con un gancho de disparo automatic0 (ver ANEXO I en pagina 8).
Su operatividad se basa en la rapidez de su puesta en el agua, por lo que debe prestar la maxima atenci6n en tener todo el conjunto en perfectas condiciones y realizar periodicas revisiones.
Este manual describe las partes del bote y su funcionamiento. Lealo atentamente y farniliaricese con el bote antes de utilizarlo. Guarde este manual en un lugar seguro yen caso de venta traspaselo al nuevo propietario.

03. (A PELIGRO A)
Despliegue el bote sobre un terreno liso y lirnpio, cuna o rernolque. Para su hinchado no utilice NUNCA un cornpresor de aka presion, puede deteriorar el funcionamiento de las valvulas, 10s rnamparos e incluso el propio flotador. Utilice el hinchador surninistrado. Es rnuy importante ernpezar a hinchar la embarcacion por las camaras en las que esten situadas las valvulas de sobrepresion y despues el resto. En el caso de 10s botes de rescate todas las camaras disponen de estas valvulas por lo que no existe un orden de hinchado predeterminado. Cada vez que se hinche un compartirnento comprobar que sale aire por la vahula de sobrepresion. Las valvulas de seguridad 0 (sobrepresion) funcionan automaticamente, eliminando 10s excesos de presion y evitando posibles reventones (tenga en cuenta que la presion aumenta con la temperatura +IoC = +0,003bar y con la presion atmosferica +ImB presion atmosferica = +ImB de presion en flotador). Esta valvula de seguridad esta rnarcada como AUTOMATIC RELIEF VALVE - DO NOT TOUCH. La presion de hinchado recomendada, para todos 10s cornpartimentos, es de 0,20 bar = 0,20 kglcm2 = 2.1 o4 Pa.
04. (A ADVERTENCIA)
Asealjrese de aue el vastaao central de la valvula de hinchado 1 se encuentra en ~osicion de cerGdo (hacia iuera). Si nofuera asi, presionelo v qirelo hacia la derecha y se c&rara por si solo. lnserte la boquilla apropiada del hinchador en la vhlvula y comience el hinchado de 10s distintos compartirnentos siguiendo las recomendaciones antes citadas. A continuation, retire la boquilla del hinchador y enrosque la tapa de la valvula. Esto evitara la entrada de agua y suciedad. Para deshinchar retire la tapa de la valvula, presione el vastago central hacia adentro y hacia la izquierda donde permanecera abierto. Deshinche 10s compartimentos por completo y libere el vastago central de la valvula, colocandolo en posicion cerrado. Enrosque de nuevo la tapa.
05. ' b (A PELIGRO A)
El bote de rescate se suministra con una eslinga de cuatro brazos I1 convenienternente fijada al casco. Esta disefiada para soportar el peso del bote, su equipo, su motor con combustible y 6 personas (total 871 kg). Preste atencibn a no superar esta mhxima carga (por ejemplo izar el bote anegado de agua). Es conveniente, cuando proceda a su arriado, soltar el bote mediante el gancho de disparo antes de que toque el agua, pues podria volcar si el buque navega a aka velocidad y es arrastrado por un punto no adecuado (eslinga de izado). Tenga presente qu'e el bote esta disefiado para soportar una caida desde varios metros de altura con toda'su targa, per0 las personas podrian sufrir dafios.
06- (A ADVERTENCIA)
Haga remolcar el bote de rescate por el cancarno de fondeolamarre 13. En la bolsa situada en proa 3 hay un cab0 de 20 m para este fin, asi como un mecanismo de suelta que permite largar la boza de proa cuando estd sometida a tension. Tire del cab0 rojo fijado en una de las anillas del flotador y el bote quedara libre del remolque.

Para arrastrar balsas salvavidas u otra embarcacion, utilice 10s cancamos de arrastre 14 situados en el exterior del espejo de popa. En el tambucho encontrara un cab0 (FJ azul disetiado para tal fin. lnserte 10s mosquetones en 10s cancarnos, el cab0 es flotante y rnide 50 metros de longitud. Preste mucha atencion a que el cab0 no se enganche con la helice del motor (a la polea se le ha provisto de un flotador para evitar en la medida de lo posible esta situacion). Tarnbien puede utilizar este cab0 para arnarrar el ancla de capa (CJ bien por proa o por popa dependiendo del estado de la mar.
08. m a (A PELIGRO A)
En caso de vuelco rnantenga la calma. Tenga presente que el bote es insumergible e incluso podra navegar con todos sus compartimentos desinflados. En la banda de estribor encontrara dos cabos de adrizado 5 seiialados como "RIGHTING ROPE", paselos a la otra banda y tire de ellos haciendo contrapeso (sitire su cuerpo de pie sobre el flotador de babor). Tenga mucha precaution pues el bote podria golpearle al adrizarse.
09. I (A ATENCION)
La parte superior, costados e inferior del bote tienen unas tiras reflectantes a la luz y al radar. Reviselas peribdicamente y en caso de deterioro sustitljyalas por unas nuevas. En el tambucho de proa encontrara plegado el reflector de radar homologado SOLAS, montelo en la base en la zona del espejo de popa.
10. (A ATENCION)
No olvide introducir las paletas telescopicas en su fjacibn. Se recornienda montar las paletas por el extremo de mayor diametro en la zona de la pala como se indica en la figura:
I I. ~ABI- (A ATENCION)
En el tambucho encontrarh una luz de posicibn _P compuesta por una lampara y dos baterias Q. Esta luz de destellos debe funcionar, en condiciones normales, durante un rninimo de 12 horas sin interrupcion. Instalacion: en la parte superior del flotador, estribor popa, encontrara una bolsa de color rojo 6, l a cual albergara a todo el conjunto de esta luz. lntroduzca la base negra de la lhrnpara bajo la solapa de la boka haciendola coincidir con 10s agujeros. Posicione el cuerpo naranja de la lampara sobre la parte superior de la solapa de la bolsa y encajelo con la base negra. Conecte las dos baterias. Accione el interruptor de cada bateria tirando de su cab0 hacia abajo. Guarde las baterias y todo el cable sobrante en la bolsa.
12. (A ATENCION)
E n la zona de popa del casco (debajo del segundo banco) se encuentra fijada la caja para guardar la bateria 9. Sitire la bateria haciendo tope hacia la parte de proa del bote y fijela con el angulo _S y 10s tornillos suministrados. Conecte 10s bornes. El proyector _J guardado en el tambucho del casco s e conecta al enchufe situado en la parte exterior de la caja de la bateria.

Para achicar e l agua embarcada retire el tapon de la valvula de achique 16 situada en la parte - inferior central en el interior del espejo de popa. Acelere la embarcacion y el agua saldra automaticamente. No se olvide de volver a poner el tapon.
14. B W X K - ~ . - (A ADVERTENCIA)
Revise y compruebe regularmente 10s sinuientes puntos: La presion de todosios compartimen~os. Las valvulas de seguridad (sobrepresion), que esten limpias y sin problemas para su funcionamiento. Achique el agua embarcada y cornpruebe la valvula de achique. No se olvide de cerrar el tapon. La carga de las baterias. Las cintas reflectantes. Las eslingas de izado. El dispositivo de suelta a proa funciona correctamente. Los cabos de adrizado. Los aros salvavidas. La caducidad del botiquin. Revisiones a realizar al extintor: '1 . Cada 12 meses: Verificacion del estado del extintor por personal especializado (el extintor debe tener una etiqueta identificativa donde conste la fecha de la ~iltima revision). 2. Cada 4 aiios: Retimbrado del extintor, efectuado por el propio fabricante o empresa debidarnente autorizada. La vida maxima del extintor es de 16 atios, es decir, 4 aiios despues de haberse realizado el 3er retimbrado.
Lave regularmente el flotador, para ello siga las siguientes indicaciones: - No utilizar disolventes ni limpiadores con alto contenido alcalino (estos productos pueden
causar daiios en el tejido). - Aclare y lirnpie la suciedad en la superficie con agua fria o ternplada. - Aplique la cantidad necesaria del limpiador suministrado por Narwhal segirn el tip0 de
suciedad (ante cualquier duda ponerse en contact0 con su distribuidor). - Aclare la suciedad con agua pura frla o templada, despues seque bien la superficie con un
patio. - El flotador debe.guardarse siempre limpio y en condiciones de absoluta sequedad. Evite rascar el casco, utilice un lirnpiador de agua a presion. Es aconsejable cubrir la embarcacibn con la lona de fondeo surninistrada con el bote para evitar suciedades y entradas de agua. Si n o la utiliza durante meses, gudrdela en un lugar ventilado y seco, con 10s flotadores hinchados a media presion.
Siga las instrucciones de rnantenimiento de su motor y de su gancho de disparo.
16. (A PELIGRO A)
En el tambucho encontrara un kit (EJ para realizar reparaciones de emergencia (pequeiios pinchazos). Aconsejarnos que una vez superada esta posible ernergencia haga revisar el bote por un profesional.
Consulte con su vendedor quien le dare 10s rnejores consejos con respecto a las piezas y 10s materiales apropiados para las pequeiias reparaciones que pueda hacer usted misrno. Para pequeiios araiiazos en el casco o cubierta rellenelos con pasta de fibra de vidrio, iguale la superficie con una lija de agua y pintelo con top-coat.
Cualquier perioracion que realice sobre el casco, cubierta o espejo, debe ser convenienternente sellada.
Las reparaciones irnportantes del flotador y del casco deben ser realizadas por profesionales.
Atenerse a la reglamentacion de las autoridades rnaritirnas locales.
18. - 8 (A ADVERTENCIA)
Recuerde que su seguridad y la de sus acompaiiantes dependen de su prevision. Durante la navegacion, las personas no estan autorizadas a perrnanecer en la proa, ni sentarse en 10s bordes del flotador. Evite permanecer de pie y lleve su chaleco salvavidas puesto. Tenga en cuenta que a bordo lleva combustible muy inflarnable que no debe entrar en contact0 con conexiones electricas o llamas vivas. En el tarnbucho encontrara un extintor portatil (a de 2,5 kg. para fuegos tipo B y C (liquidos y gases). Los accidentes en el agua pueden sobrevenir repentinamente. En caso de entrada masiva de agua, la embarcacion tendra suficiente flotabilidad para, con serenidad, lograr superar la situacion. Tenga en cuenta la dificultad de subir a bordo desde el agua. En el tarnbucho encontrara una escalera de ernbarque (B. Preste atenci6n a 10s vientos dominantes y a las corrientes, en especial a sus efectos sobre el consurno de combustibles. Antes de arrancar verifique que no hay nadie en el agua cerca del motor. La helice es un peligro para las personas que esten en el agua. Mantenga la vigilancia constantemente; asegurando que-tiene siernpre una buena visibilidad de 360".
N o derrame aceites, combustibles o productos de limpieza. Almacene 10s residuos y desperdicios y depositelos en un lugar apropiado, como contenedores selectivos. Tenga cuidado con su estela y remolinos. Controle 10s gases de su escape. Utilice adecuadarnente las pinturas, agentes de lirnpieza y otras sustancias.
20. ' : ' 8 ' (A PELIGRO A)
N o surninistrarnos rnotores, accesorios de motor, volantes, cables, transmisiones, cajas reductoras y demes artlculos relacionados con el motor. El motor necesario, de acuerdo con la hornologacibn, es un fuera-borda aprobado por SOLAS, de eje largo y de 25 o 40 HP de potencia. Exija homologacidn SOLAS al vendedor del motor. Rernitase al manual del motor para su utilizacibn, reglajes y mantenirniento.
- Cmloque el motor en position, bien centrado sobre el eje de proa-popa de la ernbarcacibn. Ap riete 10s torniquetes de fijaci6n del motor a tope con la mano, verificando y reapretando tras
15 minutos de navegacion. Corno precaucion amarre con un cab0 el motor a un sitio firme del bote (por ejemplo a uno de 10s cancamos de izado 12 situados en el interior del espejo de
- POP^). "I Si el motor se fija definitivamente al bote mediante pernos pasantes al espejo de popa, estos deben ser cuidadosarnente sellados para evitar la entrada de agua y el deterioro del espejo. Para un 6ptimo rendimiento de su motor, es esencial su colocacion a la altura correcta. La mayoria de 10s rnotores de eje largo pueden colocarse directamente sobre el espejo procurando que su placa de cavitacion quede 10 mrn por debajo de la quilla. Lea cuidadosamente las instrucciones de su motor. La potencia maxima debe ser utilizada con extrema prudencia. Es aconsejable solo para pilotos expertos y utilizando la embarcacion en condiciones rnuy especificas (maxima carga, aguas tranquilas, etc). Llene 10s depositos de gasolina fuera del bote, cualquier derrame sobre el rnismo es danino. Es aconsejable contar con un minimo de herrarnientas y accesorios que perrnitan la reparacion de pequeiias averias de su motor.
El bote ha sido diseiiado para superar 10s parametros requeridos por la homologacion SOLAS (velocidad de arrastre, autonomia, etc.) seglin la tabla de pesos adjunta.
El maximo de personas perrnitidas es de 6 adultos, pudiendo una de ellas ir turnbada en el centro de la embarcacion (el caso de un herido), levantando previamente 10s bancos de madera 10.

Para su total operatividad, el bote de rescate debe ser completado con un motor fuera-borda de eje largo de potencia 25 HP corno minirno o 40 HP como maxim0 y de un gancho de disparo. autornatico, ambos certificados SOLAS segun la norrnativa vigente.

Narwhal "SV-420" is a Rescue Boat that complies with SOLAS 1974 Regulation and all its ulterior Amendments, as well as with Directive 96198lEC amended by the Directive 2002l75lCE on marine equipment. It is meant principally for the rescue of persons at sea and for - concentrating and towing liferaits. In order to be totally operative, it must be completed with an outboard engine and an automatic release hook. (See ANNEXI, page 16).
Its operativeness is based on the speed at which it can be launched, so maximum attention is required regarding the whole set to be kept in perfect conditions and periodical revisions carried out.
This manual describes the parts of the boat and their operation. Read it carefully and be sure to have sufficient experience in handling the boat before using it. Keep this manual in a safe place and in case of sale transfer it to the new owner.
IMPORTANT: Do not forget to fill in and hand in the Guarantee Certificate attached.
The degrees of danger indicated in this manual are as follows:

Unfold the boat on smooth and clean ground, on a trailer or a craddle. Start to inflate as indicated. When inflating, NEVER use a high-pressure compressor, it could spoil the performance of the valve, the bulkheads or even the tube. Use only the supplied bellows. It is very important to begin inflating the boat by the chambers fitted with pressure relief valves and the remaining ones afterwards. In the case of rescue boats, all the chambers have this type of valve and there is no determined order of inflation for this reason.
Safety (pressure) valves 0 operate automatically, releasing the excessive pressure and avoiding eventual risks of bursting (consider that pressure increases with temperature +IoC = +0,003bar and with atmospheric pressure +ImB atmospheric pressure = +ImB of pressure in the tube). This safety valve is marked "AUTOMATIC RELIEF VALVE - DO NOT TOUCH".
The recommended inflation pressure for all compartments is 0,20 bar = 0,20 kglcm2 = 2.10~ Pa When this pressure is reached you will notice a strong resistance on the bellows making operation difficult, it means the compartment is correctly inflated.
Make sure the central spindle of the inflation valve 1 is in "closed" position (outwards). If it were not so, press and turn it towards the riqht, it will lock by itself.
Insert the appropriate mouthpiece of the bellows in the valve and start to inflate the compartments following the above mentioned recommendations.
. Next, remove the mouthpiece of the bellows and screw back the caD of the valve. This will prevent water and dirt intake.
, For deflation remove the cap of the valve, press the spindle inwards and to the left where it will block itself in "open" position. Deflate the compartments completely and release the spindle of the valve, placing it in the "closed" position. Screw the cap back into place.
05. * D & (A DANGER A)
The rescue boat is supplied with a four-legged sling 11 adequately fitted to the hull. It is designed to stand the weight of the boat, its equipment, its engine with fuel and 6 persons (total 871kg). This maximum load must not be exceeded (for example, lifting the boat with water inside).
When launching, it is convenient to activate the release hook before the boat touches the water, as it could capsize in case the vessel sails at high speed and the boat is hauled by a point that is not suitable (lifting sling).
Bear in mind.that this boat is designed to withstand a free drop from several metres, fully loaded, but the peisons could be harmed.
The rescue boat is to be towed by the anchoring I mooring ring 13. In the bag placed at bow 3 there is a 20 metre-line for that purpose, as well as a release device that allows to free the line when submitted to tension. Pull the red line attached to one of the rings of the tube and the boat will be free from the towing boat.

07. (A WARNING)
Hauling rings 14 placed outside the transom are meant to haul life rafts or another boat. Locker contains (u blue line for that purpose. Insert the snap hooks in the .rings. This is a 50 metre- length floating line. Be aware that the line never gets stuck in the propeller of the engine. (The
. pulley is equipped with a float so to avoid this situation to some extent).
You can also use this line to secure the (CJ sea anchor either by bow or by stern, depending on the sea conditions.
In case the boat capsizes keep calm. The boat is unsinkable and can even sail with all its compartments deflated. Two lines marked "RIGHTING ROPE" 5 are placed at starboard. Pass then onto the other side and pull using your weight (step on the port side tube). Be cautious,you could be hit by the boat when it gets right.
Specific tapes reflective to light and to radar are placed on the upper, lower and sides of the boat. Check them periodically and in case they are damaged replace them by new ones.
On the bow locker you will find the radar reflector SOLAS approved folded. Please, install it on its base, on the transom area.
10. (A ATENCION)
Do not forget to introduce the telescopic paddles on their fixation. It is recommended to install the paddles by the bigger diameter end in the paddle area as indicated in the drawing:

In locker you will find a position-indicating light (PJ consisting of one lamp and two batteries (@. This flash-light should work - under normal conditions - for a minimum period of 12 hours without interruption. Fitting: On the upper part of the tube at starboard stern you will find a red bag (6) where the whole set of this position-indicating light is kept. House the black base of the lamp under the overlap of the bag in such a way that it matches de holes. Place the orange body of the lamp on the upper part of the bag and fit it to the black base. Connect the two batteries. Activate the switch of each battery pulling the corresponding cable downwards. Keep the batteries and ALL the remaining cable in the bag.
12- a - (A CAUTION)
O n the stern side of the boat a box is fixed (under the second seat) in order to store the battery (9). Place the battery against the bow side of the box and adjust with the angle (SJ and the screws provided. Make the connections. The searchlight (J) that is located in the bow locker is connected to the socket (R) located on the exterior of the battery box.
13. (A WARNING)
In order to scoop the water taken in, remove the cap of the draining valve 16 located in the lower central inner part of the transom. Speed up and the water will automatically drain away. Do not forget to close the cap back.

Check and try regularly the following points: - Pressure of all compartments. r '4 - Pressure security valves, that should be clean to operate properly. - Bail out the water taken in and check the draining valve. Do not forget to close the cap. - Loading of the batteries. - The reflective tapes. - The lifting slings. - The bow release device that should operate correctly. - The righting lines. - The life-saving quoits. - The life of the first-aid kit. - Fire extinguisher checks:
1. Every 12 months: Verification of the status of the fire-extinguisher by qualified personnel (the fire-extinguisher must have an identifyng label upon which the last inspection date es stated). 2. CadEvery 4 years: Test re-plating of the fire-extinguisher carried out by the manifactured or company expressly authorised to do so. The maximum life of the extinguisher is of 16 years, that is 4 years offer carrying out the third test re-plating.
15. (A WARNING)
Buoyancy tube maintenance Wash regularly the buoyancy tube, following the next steps:
- Do not use solvents neither cleaning products with a high alkali content (This products may damage the fabric).
- Rinse and clean the dirtiness on the surface with hot or lukewarm water. -Apply the needed quantity of the cleaning product supplied by Narwhal depending on
the kind of dirtiness (In case of doubt get in touch with your distributor). - Rinse the dirtiness with pure cold pure water or lukewarm water and after that dry all the
surface using a cloth. - The buoyancy tube should always be storaged clean and in conditions of total dryness.
Avoid hull scratches, use pressure water cleaner. It is recommended to cover the craft with the boat cover in order to avoid dirtiness and water intakes. If the craft it is not used for months, keep it on a dry and a ventilated place, with the buoyancy tubes inflated at a medium pressure. Follow the maintenance instructions concerning your engine and release hook.
16. (A DANGER A)
Locker contains a kit (5) that will allow you to perform urgent repairs (small punctures). You are advised to have your boat inspected by a professional as soon as possible after the urgency is solved. Your dealer will advise you regarding the most suitable parts and material for the small repairs that you may carry out yourself. Small scratches on hull or deck: fill in with fibreglass paste, smoothen and fine-sand the surface, then paint it with top-coat. Any hole drilled on the hull, deck or transom should be conveniently sealed. Important repairs on the tube and hull must be carried out by professionals.

18. D (A WARNING)
- Remember your safety and your companions' depend on your foresight. - During navigation, persons aboard are not authorised to stay at bow or to sit on the edges of
the tubes. Avoid standing and wear your life vest. - Consider you have aboard very flammable fuel that must not come into contact with
electrical connections or open flame. On locker you will find a portable fire-extinguisher (a of 2,5 kg for fires type B and C (liquid and gas).
- Accidents in the water may happen suddenly. - In case of flooding the boat will still keep sufficient buoyancy to allow overcoming the
situation calmly. - Consider the difficulty of getting aboard from the water. This difficulty is conditioned by your
physical strength and your weight. Locker contains a boarding ladder (BJ. - Pay attention to the dominant winds and to the currents, particularly to their effect on fuel
consumption. - Make sure there is no one in the water near the engine before setting off. Remember the
propeller is a danger for persons in the water. have a good 360" visibility.

Do not discharge oil, fuel or cleaning products. Store waste and put it away in a proper place ,such as selective containers. Pay attention to your wake or swirls. Control the exhausts. Make proper use of paints, cleaning products and other substances.
20. (A DANGER A)
We do not supply engines, engine accessories, wheels, cables, transmissions, gear boxes or other articles concerning the engine. The Certification requires a 25 or 40HP, long-shaft, SOLAS - approved outboard engine. Demand the SOLAS Certification from the engine sales person. Refer to the manual of the engine for operation, adjustments and maintenance. Place the engine in position, correctly centred on the bow-stern axis of the boat. Hand-tighten the fixing turnstiles of the engine, check and tighten again after a 15 minute-navigation. Caution: fasten the engine to a steady point in the boat with a line (for example, to the lifting eyes 12 situated within the transom). If the engine is definitely fixed to the boat with bolts through the transom, these have to be carefully sealed in order to avoid water intake and damage of the transom. For an optimum performance of your engine, the correct height is essential. Most long-shaft engines can be fitted directly on the transom with the cavitation plate about 10mm under the bottom of the hull. Read carefully the instructions regarding your engine. Maximum authorised power must be used with extreme prudence. It is advisable only for expert pilots and when using the boat in very particulary conditions (maximum load, etc.). Fill the fuel tank out of the boat, any spilling on it is harmful. J t is advisable to have some essential tools and accessories to repair eventual breakdowns of the engine.

21. (A DANGER A) I6 The boat is designed to surpass the parameters required by SOWS Certification (hauling speed, autonomy, etc.) according to the following weight charge.
6 persons is the maximum allowance, one of them may lie down in the centre of the boat (an injured person, for example) after lifting the wooden seats 10.

In order to be totally operative, the rescue boat must be completed with a long-shaft outboard engine, with 25 hp as minimum power, or 40 hp as maximun power, and an automatic release hook, both SOLAS - Certified according to the Rules in force.
