The Welcome and Announcements

The Call To Worship (from Colossians 1)
We have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus
and of the love that you have for all the saints.
We have heard of this hope before in the word of the truth,
the gospel that has come to us.
We have not ceased praying for you and asking
that you may be filled with the knowledge of God’s will,
so that we may lead lives worthy of the Lord
as we bear fruit in every good work.
The Prayer of Adoration
*The Hymn 274 “O God of Earth and Space”
*The Prayer of Confession
O Lord, You give Your good gifts without regard. The rain falls on the just
and the unjust, and Your blessings rain upon those who praise You and those
who ignore You. Your goodness and grace to us are wonderful but difficult to
understand. Too quickly do we give ourselves to envy and resentment as we
compare portions with others we deem less deserving. Too easily do we allow
our lives to be twisted by our sense of privilege and entitlement. Forgive us, O
Lord, and grant that we may rest in You, trusting in Your goodness and tasting
the sweetness of gratitude . . .(time for silent confession). . .
*The Assurance of Pardon (from Colossians 1:13)
God “has rescued us from the power of darkness
and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son. . .
. . .in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sin.”
Alleluia! Amen.
*The Gloria Patri p. 579 in the Hymnal
*The Peace and Greeting
The peace of Christ be with you all. And also with you! (Please exchange this ancient greeting with worshippers seated near you. Please stand to greet one another in the name of Christ.)

Christ to come to The Table of the Lord.
*The Hymn of Preparation 517 “We Come as Guests Invited” The Invitation The Call To Prayer The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. The Great Prayer of Thanksgiving . . . who forever sing to the glory of Your name: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of Your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest . . . . . . great is the mystery of faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again. The Lord’s Prayer p. 16 in the Hymnal The Communion
(You are invited to come forward to partake of the elements by intinction and may pause for silent prayer before returning to your seat.)
The Prayer After Communion Eternal God, you have graciously accepted us as living members of Your Son our Savior Jesus Christ, and You have fed us with spiritual food in the Sacrament of His body and blood. Send us now into the world in peace, and grant us strength and courage to love and serve You with gladness and singleness of heart; through Christ our Lord. Amen
TO GO FORTH AND SERVE IN GOD’S NAME. . .

July 11, 2010 THE WORSHIP OF GOD 8:30 and 10:00 am
We are delighted to have visitors worship with us!
To aid you in our liturgy, we want to acquaint you with
our following custom: In the Lord’s Prayer, we use the
words, “Forgive us our debts… our debtors.” We encourage
you to stand for singing if you are able as the organ
sounds the first note of introduction. When appropriate to
the hymn, the organist and choir will lead the congrega-
tion in singing, “Amen.”
Assistive listening devices (amplified earphones and
telecoilneckloops), large print bulletins and hymnals
are available from the ushers.
Child Care is provided in the Education Building for
infants through kindergarten.
All worshippers are encouraged to sign the Atten-
dance/Friendship pad, greet your friends, and welcome
visitors.
The flowers today are given by Gina Whitticar to the Glory
of God and in honor of her family.

Fellowship Events & Small Groups
The Annual Church Golf Tournament is this Thursday, July 15, at Fredericksburg Coun-
try Club. We will play “Captain’s choice”, have a “shotgun tee-off” at 1:00 p.m., have a
“closest to the pin” and “longest drive” contest. Golfers of all abilities who are 14 or older
are welcomed, both female and male. You may sign up at the table today, email Bruce at
[email protected]., or call the church office at 373-7057.
The Fellowship Committee is sponsoring a trip to the National Zoo after worship next
Sunday, July 18. We'll travel there individually and gather to share a packed lunch (bring
your own) at the National Zoo picnic area. Then it's off to visit the animals at our own pace
and enjoy the day.
Sunday Night Supper and Playtime After VBS ~ All families with children are invited to
have dinner in the Fellowship Hall tonight, at 6:00 p.m., immediately following VBS. This
invitation is also being extended to all families participating in VBS. We’d like families who
are not working at VBS, perhaps some of the dads of the Families with Children Fellow-
ship Group to come at 5:00 p.m. and cook the hotdogs in the kitchen and help set up the ta-
bles and chairs. Families whose last name ends in A-L are asked to bring a side dish (e.g.,
salads, fruit, chips) and those from M-Z are asked to bring a dessert to share. Please come
and join us for dinner and fellowship time as we help kick off VBS.
World Peace Through Education ~ Bob and Lydia Collett join us on Sunday, July 25, to
share some of their experiences working with this ministry and their year in the Philippines.
The presentation will immediately follow the 10:00 a.m. worship service in the Middle
House.
The Fellowship Committee is hosting the Second Annual Trip to Nationals Park to see the
Nationals play the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, August 29, at 1:35 p.m. Make your
reservations at the signup table every Sunday through July 25. This is a firm cutoff date as
the tickets will be purchased on July 26. Tickets will be distributed beginning on August 1.
Transportation in the Church van will be available to the first 10 people who sign up for it.
For more information, contact Scott Fischer at 540-760-4946 ([email protected]).
