Folk tribal Dance

Dancers burst with verve and vitality sporting flamboyant costumes and artistic jewels, mind blowing performances, acrobatic skills, perfect synchronized movements and great expressions. The versatile dancers stole the show at

Kalaikoodam and it was a glittering event that would always remain in the minds of the audience who were spellbound.

Art is a harmony parallel with nature - Paul Cezanne

Kalai Koodam synergized talents from the South India & showcased the diversity of our regional folk music.

Thidambu Nritham, Perini, Thapetta Gullu, Dollu Kunitha,

Theyyam, Oppana, Garadi, Oyilattam, Mayil Attam

and lot more it’s hard for gravity to hold

audience on ground.

Western Vocal Solo

The western Group Song team from Bangalore University stole the show. There were rocking performances from other institutions also. It was diffcult for the audience to be glued to their seats and judges to select the best performers.

16 Team Kalaikoodam Nightingales flocked together in harmony and unison. It was an explosion of talents they rendered melodious tunes and souful songs. Singers were spellbinding, alluring, delightful and soul touching

Music unwraps the heart, sings out the prayer, dances the spirit and opens the soul – Mary Davis

9 teams participated in the event and it was a power packed performance. Few of the participants were Antony

Verghese, University of Calicut, Arjun, CUSAT and Harsha Lanka, Vignan’s Foundation for Science.

It was rocking performances with songs of Demi Lovato “Stone Cold”, Adele’s - Rolling in the Deep, Ellie’s – Love Me Like You Do, John Legend’s – All Of Me, Alicia Keys - Girl on Fire etc. by participants from CUSAT, Sri Chandraskharendra Viswa Maha Vidyalaya (SCSVMV), Gulbarga University, Venkateswara University, Shri Padmavathy Mahila Viswa Vidyalaya and many more.

33rd Inter University South Zone Youth Festival, Valedictory Programme was conducted on 22nd December 2018 at Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science, Chief Guest of the function was Smt. P. C. Thenmozhi, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kancheepuram Range. In her message she informed that students should excel in extra curricular activities and not to confine themselves to academics. All the participants of the Youth Fest should make a mark in the international arena and should aim for Oscars in Arts and Olympics in Sports field. Smt. Bharathi Thirumagan, Carnatic Musician, Performing Artist in AIR, Doordarshan and other channels, was the Guest of Honour. She praised the efforts of Hindustan Institute of

Technology for their efforts to conduct this event. She impressed the audience with her villu pattu songs. Other eminent persons present were Shri. Sampson David, Joint Secretary, Association of Indian Universities, praised Hindustan University for its commendable efforts for organising the event in an impeccable manner. He also praised the efforts of the organising team and appreciated all the students of the host institution. Dr. S. Ramachandran, Vice-Chancellor of Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) announced the overall champions of the 33rd Inter University South Zone Youth Festival as University of Kerala and the Runners Up were from Mahatma Gandhi University.
