From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973.

Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song &

praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled.

We hope you will visit us often and worship with us!

(If you’d like more information about us or would like to join our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket!)

NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, address and we’ll contact you about joining us.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places

through the Immaculate Virgin Mary.

STEWARDSHIP & GIVING

Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time: “I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the treasury. For they all contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, her whole living.” Mark 12:43-44). Jesus gets right to the point – we are all called to give money to support the mission of the Church, regardless of our circumstance. No gift is too small or insignificant! Giving money to support the mission of our local parish is a matter of our faith, just like praying and participating in parish ministries. When you make a financial offering, is it from your “first fruits” or from what is “left over”?

Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

Presider...............................Fr. Tom Schroer, S.M. Assisting..............................Deacon Greg Cecere Liturgy Planner.................... Chris Sitko Music Director..................... Teesie Lupp Interpreter for the Deaf........ Janet Miller

1 Kings 17:10-16: The care of widows and orphans in the earliest days of Christianity was a ministry of consequence, and one to be greatly admired and taken up in prayer and preaching again and again. The widows situation reveals a lot about the condition of many of the disenfranchised in the society where she lived.

Hebrews 9:24-28: Christ offered himself to redeem us from sin, and he will return to save those who wait for him. We should be among those who are eagerly awaiting him.

Mark 12:38-44: The poor widow put two of the smallest coins there were in the offering box. The disciples with Jesus weren’t very impressed. But Jesus said this woman has given more than any other because it was all she had. She trusted in God to provide for her. She obeyed God's command, knowing that God would fulfill the promise to care for her in return. We must trust God the same way.

Ministers Taking Eucharist to Those Not With Us

Presider: Let us send these ministers to those who could not be with us.

Response: Receive the Body of Christ for the nourishment of those who are not here with us. Assure our friends of our prayers and blessings throughout the week.

Luke’s gospel is the story of the great reversal – where the comfortable and complacent find judgment and the lowly find redemption. As Mary sang in the Magnificat, “He has thrown down the rulers from their thrones but lifted up the lowly. The hungry he has filled with good things; the rich he has sent away empty” (Lk 1:52-53). Real-life stories and parables throughout the gospel emphasize this message. The Great Reversal is seen in the shepherds in the field, Zacchaeus, Lazarus the poor man, the prodigal son and Jesus himself. Luke invites us to be humble so that the redeeming work of Jesus Christ can indeed save us. All are welcome to this free event. Registration not required.

MEDITATION OF THE DAY: "We do not come to church to attend the service as a spectator, but in order, along with the priest, to serve God. Everything we do—our entering, being present, our kneeling and sitting and standing, our reception of the sacred nourishment—should be divine service. This is so only when all we do overflows from the awareness of a collected heart and the mind’s attentiveness." ~ Fr. Romano Guardini

FAVORITE QUOTE: "Let all creation help you to praise God. Give yourself the rest you need. When you are walking alone, listen to the sermon preached to you by the flowers, the trees, the shrubs, the sky, the sun and the whole world. Notice how they preach to you a sermon full of love, of praise of God, and how they invite you to proclaim the greatness of the one who has given them being." ~ St. Paul of the Cross

TEACHING A teacher was asked to fill out a special questionnaire for the state. One question said, "Give two reasons for entering the teaching profession."

The teacher wrote, "July and August."

CENTENNIAL OF ARMISTICE DAY - 1918: One hundred years ago, on Nov. 11, 1918, World War I ended. The fighting ended at 11:00 AM Paris time, “the eleventh hour on the 11th day of the 11th month.”

The armistice was agreed upon at 5:00 AM on November 11th. While news spread quickly, fighting continued until 11:00 AM. Army Pvt. Henry Gunther of the 79th Division was killed at 10:59 AM, a minute before the Armistice took effect. He was the last American killed in World War I.

As many as 4.7 million Americans served in the military during World War I. About 116,000 Americans died and 204,000 were wounded.

Armistice Day became a national holiday in 1919. In 1954, Armistice Day was rededicated as Veterans Day to honor all American veterans.

Today, we especially remember all of our veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom through the ages as well as those who put themselves in harms way, sacrificing so much for all of us. May God bless them all.
