San Luis Potosí An integrated campus for engineering, sourcing and manufacturing

2 | ABB Mexico | San Luis Potosí Campus

San Luis Potosí is the first ABB facility to integrate the company’s core businesses of power and automation. These businesses are represented at the campus by the company’s five divisions: power products, power systems, automation products, process automation and robotics. Opened in 2009 at an investment of nearly $40 million, the San Luis Potosí campus is designed around ABB’s customer service concept of One Team, One Vision:

− Operations include a state-of-the-art center for engineering and management services, and two manufacturing plants. The proximity of these facilities encourages operational efficiencies that result in cost savings to customers.

− The campus-like footprint is intentionally designed to encourage the sharing of ideas, technologies, resources and best practices. San Luis Potosí is also the site of an ABB research and development center, part of a six-country network that is driving innovation in process automation.

− The location in the capital city of San Luis Potosí was chosen specifically to facilitate logistics and expedite the supply chain. Ground transportation, cargo services and customs facilities are readily available.

− The campus operates under the regulations of the Free Trade Zone, the authority that oversees all international commerce transactions in Mexico. ABB is the only company of its kind in Mexico to be designated as a strategic precinct under this program – a distinction that expedites shipments.
