NEW!Using Colour Expressively Tutor | Jill Pemberton

Sat 19 Jul Code JUL UCEFee A £30 | B £24 | C £15

This workshop is a natural ‘follow on’ to the Expressive Drawing workshop. Although it is not necessary to have been on that workshop you need to have an interest in developing the impact of colour in your drawingsThis one-day workshop hopes to encourage the progression from mark and line into shape, space and form using colour- not as an ‘addition’ to drawing but as cohesion of concepts within the work. It asks the artist to consider the ‘whole’ piece as it evolves- the hierarchy of emphasis and structure within an abstract composition.

Silver Clay JewelleryTutor | Jo Dix

Sat 26 JulCode JUL SCJFee A £37 | B £29.60 | C £18.50

Art clay silver is an exciting modelling material that can be modelled like a fine-textured clay and when heated becomes 99.9% pure solid silver. It can be rolled, stretched, textured and layered with simple tools before being assembled and cast. It is great for making earrings, pendants, rings and beads. Ideal for both beginners and those hobbyist jewellers who are looking for something new.

“Jo is a fantastic teacher, really approachable and supportive. A Great Day!”

Collagraph & Carborundum

Fri 6 & Sat 7 JunCode JUN CCFee A £90 | B £ 72 | C £45

This two-day workshop will explore how to make Collagraphs – a process in which materials are collaged onto a rigid substrate such as cardboard, wood, plastic or metal - and then printed. Carborundum powder and other gritty materials can be used to create areas of tone and texture, allowing you to print strong, rich colour and to explore expressive brushwork and mark-making. Both of these techniques are very exciting to experiment with on their own and in combination.

Sat 14 JunCode JUN LFee A £45 | B £36 | C £22.50

A one-day workshop where you will have the opportunity to design, cut and print your own linocuts. You will be able to print onto a range of materials and surfaces and explore Chine-collé-a technique where the image is transferred to a surface that is bonded to a support material.

Etching

Sat 28 JunCode JUN EFee A £45 | B £36 | C £22.50

Come and experience a one-day workshop where you will explore the wide range of techniques available through safe-etching. These techniques are simple, very exciting and offer a range of experimentation not available through traditional methods. By the end of the day you will have made and printed your own plates onto a range of materials.

NEW!Dry Point

Sat 5 JulCode JUL DFee A £45 | B £36 | C £22.50

By working with a sharp point on a plastic or metal plate, drawings and textures can easily be scratched onto their surface, then inked and printed. Scratching the surface of the plate throws up a burr of material that catches the ink and prints lines with a soft and velvety quality. The workshop will explore some of the printed qualities dry point has to offer and how it can be combined with other intaglio techniques.
