• Usethespecifiedwirestoconnecttheindoorandoutdoorunitssecurelyandattachthewiresfirmlytotheterminalboardconnectingsectionssothestressofthewiresisnotappliedtothesections.
Incompleteconnectingandfixingcouldcausefire.• DonotuseintermediateconnectionofthepowercordortheextensioncordanddonotconnectmanydevicestooneACoutlet.
Itcouldcauseafireoranelectricshockduetodefectivecontact,defectiveinsulation,exceedingthepermissiblecurrent,etc.
• Checkthattherefrigerantgasdoesnotleakafterinstallationhascompleted.• Performtheinstallationsecurelyreferringtotheinstallationmanual. Incomplete installationcouldcauseapersonal injurydue tofire, electricshock,theunitfallingorleakageofwater.
• Performelectricalworkaccordingtotheinstallationmanualandbesuretouseanexclusivecircuit.
Ifthecapacityofthepowercircuitisinsufficientorthereisincompleteelectri-calwork,itcouldresultinafireoranelectricshock.
• Theusershouldneverattempttorepairtheunitortransferittoanotherloca-tion.
• Theapplianceshallbeinstalledinaccordancewithnationalwiringregula-tions.
• Ifthesupplycordisdamaged,itmustbereplacedbythemanufacturer,itsserviceagentorsimilarlyqualifiedpersonsinordertoavoidahazard.
• Attachtheelectricalpartcovertotheindoorunitandtheservicepaneltotheoutdoorunitsecurely.
Iftheelectricalpartcoverintheindoorunitand/ortheservicepanelintheoutdoorunitarenotattachedsecurely,itcouldresultinafireoranelectricshockduetodust,water,etc.
• Besuretousethepartprovidedorspecifiedpartsfortheinstallationwork. Theuseofdefectivepartscouldcauseaninjuryorleakageofwaterduetoafire,anelectricshock,theunitfalling,etc.
• Ventilatetheroomifrefrigerantleaksduringoperation. If the refrigerant comes in contactwithaflame,poisonousgaseswill bereleased.
•Wheninstallingorrelocating,orservicingtheairconditioner,useonlythespecifiedrefrigerant(R410A)tochargetherefrigerantlines.Donotmixitwithanyotherrefrigerantanddonotallowairtoremaininthelines.
Ifairismixedwiththerefrigerant,thenitcanbethecauseofabnormalhighpressure in the refrigerant line,andmay result inanexplosionandotherhazards.
Theuseofanyrefrigerantotherthanthatspecifiedforthesystemwillcausemechanical failureorsystemmalfunctionorunitbreakdown. In theworstcase,thiscouldleadtoaseriousimpedimenttosecuringproductsafety.
Caution:• Performgrounding. Donotconnectthegroundwiretoagaspipe,waterpipearresterortelephonegroundwire.Defectivegroundingcouldcauseanelectricshock.
• Donotinstalltheunitinaplacewhereaninflammablegasleaks. Ifgasleaksandaccumulatesintheareasurroundingtheunit,itcouldcauseanexplosion.
• Installagroundleakagebreakerdependingontheinstallationplace(whereitishumid).
If a ground leakage breaker is not installed, it could cause an electricshock.
• Perform the drainage/pipingwork securely according to the installationmanual.
Ifthereisadefectinthedrainage/pipingwork,watercoulddropfromtheunitandhouseholdgoodscouldbewetanddamaged.
• Fastenaflarenutwithatorquewrenchasspecifiedinthismanual. Whenfastenedtootight,aflarenutmaybrokenafteralongperiodandcausealeakageofrefrigerant.
• Iftheunitisrunforlonghourswhentheairabovetheceilingisathightem-perature/highhumidity(dewpointabove26ºC),dewcondensationmaybeproducedintheindoorunitortheceilingmaterials.Whenoperatingtheunitsinthiscondition,addinsulationmaterial(10-20mm)totheentiresurfaceoftheunitandceilingmaterialstoavoiddewcondensation.
2. Selectingtheinstallationlocation
2.1. Indoorunit• Whereairflowisnotblocked.• Wherecoolairspreadsovertheentireroom.• Whereitisnotexposedtodirectsunshine.• Atadistance1mormoreawayfromyourTVandradio(topreventpicturefrom
being distorted or noise from being generated).
• Inaplaceasfarawayaspossiblefromfluorescentandincandescentlights(sotheinfrared remote control can operate the air conditioner normally).
• Wheretheairfiltercanberemovedandreplacedeasily.
Warning:Mounttheindoorunitintoaceilingstrongenoughtowithstandtheweightoftheunit.
2.2. Wirelessremotecontrollermounting(ForSLP-2FAL*)• Placeofmounting
•Whereitiseasytooperateandeasilyvisible.•Wherechildrencannottouch.
• Mounting Selectapositionabout1.2mabovethefloor,checkthatsignalsfromtheremotecontrolleraresurelyreceivedbytheindoorunitfromthatposition(‘beep’or‘beep-beep’receivingtonesounds).Afterthat,attachremotecontrollerholdertoapillaror wall and set the wireless remote controller.
In roomswhere inverter typefluorescent lampsareused, thesignal from thewirelessremotecontrollermaynotbereceived.
Note:Thephrase“Wiredremotecontroller”inthisinstallationmanualrefersonlytothePAR-33MAA.Ifyouneedanyinformationfortheotherremotecontroller,pleaserefertoeithertheinstallationmanualorinitialsettingmanualwhichareincludedintheseboxes.

4.4. Suspension structure (Give site of suspensionstrongstructure)(Fig.4-4)
• Theceilingworkdiffersaccordingtotheconstructionofthebuilding.Buildingcon-structors and interior decorators should be consulted for details.
(1)Extentofceilingremoval:Theceilingmustbekeptcompletelyhorizontalandtheceilingfoundation(framework:woodenslatsandslatholders)mustbereinforcedinordertoprotecttheceilingfromvibration.
(2)Cutandremovetheceilingfoundation.(3)Reinforcetheendsoftheceilingfoundationwhereithasbeencutandaddceiling
foundation for securing the ends of the ceiling board.(4)Wheninstallingtheunitonaslantingceiling,interlockapillowbetweentheceiling

2. Lift the unit to the proper height of the suspension bolts to insert the mounting plate between washers and then fasten it securely.
3. Whenthemainunitcannotbealignedagainstthemountingholeontheceiling,itisadjustableowingtoaslotprovidedonthemountingplate.(Fig.4-6)
• MakesurethatstepAisperformedwithin37-42mm.Damagecouldresultbyfailing to adhere to this range.
4.6.Confirmingthepositionofmainunitandtighteningthesuspensionbolts(Fig.4-7)
• Usingthegaugeattachedtothegrille,ensurethatthebottomofthemainunitisproperlyalignedwiththeopeningoftheceiling.Besuretoconfirmthis,otherwisecondensation may form and drip due to air leakage etc.
• Confirmthatthemainunitishorizontallylevelled,usingaleveloravinyltubefilledwith water.
• Aftercheckingthepositionofthemainunit,tightenthenutsofthesuspensionboltssecurely to fasten the main unit.
• Theinstallationtemplatecanbeusedasaprotectivesheettopreventdustfromentering the main unit when the grilles are left unattached for a while or when the ceilingmaterialsaretobelinedafterinstallationoftheunitisfinished.

5.1. PrecautionsFordevicesthatuseR410Arefrigerant• Usealkylbenzeneoil (smallamount)as therefrigerationoilapplied to theflaredsections.
• UseC1220copperphosphorusforcopperandcopperalloyseamlesspipes,toconnecttherefrigerantpipes.Userefrigerantpipeswiththethicknessesspecified in the tablebelow.Makesure the insidesof thepipesarecleananddonotcontainanyharmfulcontaminantssuchassulfuriccompounds,oxidants,debris,ordust.
Warning:When installingor relocating,or servicing theair conditioner,useonly thespecified refrigerantwrittenonoutdoorunit tocharge the refrigerant lines.Donotmixitwithanyotherrefrigerantanddonotallowairtoremaininthelines.Ifairismixedwiththerefrigerant,thenitcanbethecauseofabnormalhighpressureintherefrigerantline,andmayresultinanexplosionandotherhaz-ards.Theuseofanyrefrigerantotherthanthatspecifiedforthesystemwillcausemechanical failureor systemmalfunctionorunitbreakdown. In theworstcase,thiscouldleadtoaseriousimpedimenttosecuringproductsafety.

5.5. Pipeconnection(Fig.5-8)Indoorunit1) Whenusingcommerciallyavailablecopperpipes:• Applythinlayerofrefrigerantoiltopipeandjointseatingsurfacebeforetighteningflarenut.
• Usetwowrenchestotightenpipingconnections.• Air-purgetherefrigerantpipingusingyourownrefrigerantgas(don’tair-purgethe
refrigerant charged in the outdoor unit).• Use leakdetector or soapywater to check for gas leaksafter connectionsare
completed.• Useflarednutinstalledtothisindoorunit.• Incaseofreconnectingtherefrigerantpipesafterdetaching,maketheflaredpartofpipere-fabricated.
• Userefrigerantpipinginsulationprovidedtoinsulateindoorunitconnections.Insulatecarefully following shown below.
2) Heatinsulationforrefrigerantpipes:1 Wraptheenclosedlarge-sizedpipecoveraroundthegaspipe,makingsurethat
theendofthepipecovertouchesthesideoftheunit.2 Wraptheenclosedsmall-sizedpipecoveraroundtheliquidpipe,makingsurethat
theendofthepipecovertouchesthesideoftheunit.3 Securebothendsofeachpipecoverwiththeenclosedbands.(Attachthebands
20mmfromtheendsofthepipecover.)Makesurethattheslitinthepipecoverisfacingupwardwhenitisinstalled.
Seethatstopvalveonoutdoorunitisfullyshut(unitisshippedwithvalveshut).Afterallpipingconnectionsbetweenindoorandoutdoorunithavebeencompleted,vacuum-purgeairfromsystemthroughtheserviceportforthestopvalveontheoutdoorunit.Aftercompletingproceduresabove,openoutdoorunitstopvalvesstemfully.Thiscompletes connection of refrigerant circuit between indoor and outdoor units. Stop valveinstructionsaremarkedonoutdoorunit.
Flarenuttightening• Applyathincoatofrefrigerationoilontheseatsurfaceofpipe.• Forconnectionfirstalignthecenter,thentightenthefirst3to4turnsofflarenut.• Usetightening torquetablebelowasaguideline for indoorunitsideunion jointsection,andtightenusingtwowrenches.Excessivetighteningdamagestheflaresection.
AApplyrefrigeratingmachineoilovertheentireflareseatsurface.BUsecorrectflarenutsmeetingthepipesizeoftheoutdoorunit.CFlarenuttighteningtorque
