Serving the industry since 1961

From its opening in 1961, Cooling Products has providedthousands of air cooled heat exchangers for the Gas

Processing Industry, Natural Gas Transmission companies,Oil Refineries, Air Separation facilities, and Hydrogen

enhancement additions. A true manufacturer, CPI designs andproduces the structural components, finned tubes, and welded

headers at its facility in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Validatingour original and on going commitment to superior

manufacturing, CPI equipment from the 1960s continues tooperate more than forty years after fabrication. Because our

internal quality standards exceed API-661 requirements, we donot produce off-the-shelf equipment – every cooler is custom

designed and built to the client's requirements.

CPI's founder, Jim Carter, was an engineer in the early yearsof air cooled heat exchangers. He built Cooling Products ondesign integrity, service to customers, and commitment to

employees – a number of whom have thirty or more years ofcontinual experience working for CPI. These craftsmen of longstanding assure our culture of quality is passed on to incoming

generations of workers.

Quality AssuranceFor over twenty years, Cooling Productshas been the only air cooled heatexchanger manufacturer with arepresentative serving on the industryappropriate ASME committees.

Assembled coolers are testrun prior to shipmentincluding vibration tests toAPI-661 (ISO 13706)standards.

In addition to ASME Code, CPIproduces CRN and PEDregistered equipment.

All forms of testing and NDE areavailable to meet customer orproject requirements.

Scheduling, quality, and cost objectivesare monitored in real-time resulting inbetter performance and lower pricing.

Finned TubesAll varieties of industry standard fins areprovided on CPI equipment. Our qualityprocess requires pressure cleaning thebase tubes before finning to preventcontact interference and to ensuremaximum heat transfer and minimumthermal resistance.

L-fins, spirally wound under tension, arethe most cost efficient type for benignenvironments and average temperatureapplications. CPI L-fins are checked forcontact integrity and produced with castzinc end bands to prevent loss of tensionfound in merely stapled options.

Embedded fins, suited for hightemperature applications, have thealuminum edge fitted into a spiral groovein the process tube wall. Temperatures inexcess of 500º F are the most commonuse of this fin type.

Extruded fins are best for corrosiveenvironments or higher processtemperatures requiring alloy inner tubeswhere cutting into the tube wall is costly.Extruded fins are manufactured from asingle piece of outer aluminum tubing. The high pressure, exacting process cutsand raises the multiple fins per inch, whilestretching and mechanically bonding theouter aluminum to the inner tube.

CPI extruded tubes are power washed and rinsed after finning.

CPI extruded fins are checked for finprofile, tension, and bond, including cuttingand destroying randomly selected tubesfrom every production run.

Pressure Vessel WeldingAt our facility, we create headers fromcarbon steel, stainless materials, andspecialty nickel products. Meeting bothsevere design and demandingproduction requirements are CPIhallmarks. Lethal Service stampedbundles produced at our plant haveoperated for years without incident.CPI has successfully fabricated anumber of extreme pressure ACHEswith ASME Code "U" stamps rangingto 11,500 PSI design and more than17,000 PSI test.

Controlled environmentrooms are available foralloy and exotic metalprocesses.

In addition to normal and high pressurePlug Type headers, Billet headers, Pipeheaders, and Cover/Bonnet headers haveall been manufactured by CoolingProducts. During our decades offabrication, virtually all welding processeshave been utilized to meet productrequirements or customer preferences.CPI welders receive on-going training innew methods and materials. Our policiesencourage internal instruction andpromotion, while our employee loyaltyincludes twenty and thirty year veterans.

A standard CPI feature not offered by others –rounded, eased inlet and eased exit fan rings. The less abrupt change in air flow reducesstatic pressure, horsepower, and noise. Ourfan rings, combined with other designfeatures, allow CPI to produce some of thequietest coolers in the industry.

As with other component parts,Cooling Products manufactures itsown structures, controlling quality, design, workmanship, and scheduleswithout relying on sub-vendor whims. From OSHA requirements to end-user standards, we can assurecompliance.

Units with bay sizes up to 60 ft. and 40tons are loaded and shipped from ourfacility.

Cooling Products was a pioneer inwarm air recirculation systems duringthe early 1960s. Working incollaboration with a major oil companyresearch facility, CPI helped develop theover-the-end recirculation system thatbecame an industry standard.

CPI further refined the design to allowfor modular shipping to drasticallyreduce field installation time andmanpower requirements.

Years of successfuloperation in thenorthern U.S., Canada,Alaska, and Russia, have proven ourdesigns andconstruction reliability.

Beyond assembled systems, our value added options willfurther reduce jobsite costs and completion time. Thesealternatives include partial wiring, shop-installing actuatorsand air lines, and providing an air manifold with a single, client input. Computer logic interfaces and other forms ofsystem integration can also be factory installed by CPI.
