2. What is the American Revolution?
3. It is said to be the result of a series of social, political,
and intellectual transformations in early American society and
government.Source: Wikipedia.Com
4. #1French and Indian War
The only reason America stayed under Britains rule for so long was
for their protection from the French. But once Britain and France
went to war, the need for Britain's protection became less
significant for them. This was just another reason the Thirteen
Colonies wanted independence from the British. The war had
threatened the British empire, and it seemed to lose some of its
prestige.
5. #2 Pandemic
The plague known as Black Death occurred in the 1300s. Once 30-60%
of the population was wiped out, it forced people to question their
leaders; but leaders were not able to come up with answers. This
forced people to question authority, take measures in their own
hands and deal with a problem themselves.
The American Revolution is another incident around the same time
period where people are taking matters into their own hands and
deal with a problem themselves.
Death In Political War
Death From Bubonic Plague
(Who do I turn to?)
(Whos side do I take?)
In our opinion the black death is an indirect but extremely
powerful movement to the American revolution because it taught
people to take measures into their own hands and make a better
state of life for themselves.
6. #3- Americans felt they Deserved Equal rights with
Englishmen
They first rejected the authority of the Parliament of Great
Britain to govern them from overseas without representation, and
then expelled all royal officials.
The Americans werent content with the rights they were granted from
the English. The English thought of themselves as superior to the
Americans and didnt allow them to have a role in the governing of
their own country. This discontentment is ultimately what led to
the Revolutionary War.
7. #4 Taxation on The Thirteen Colonies
The British started pushing taxes on the Thirteen Colonies
purchases on playing cards, newspapers, and other commonly used
items. The British claimed the taxes were established in order to
pay for the Thirteen colonies guaranteed protection. This was a
more upfront method of taxation as compared to previous
tariffs,
however, the Americans were upset none the less. After seeing the
protection from the British crumble in the French /British War, the
Thirteen Colonies were on their final straw with the British.
Taxation pushed them over the edge and the majority of the people
decided they needed change.
8. #5 Governmental Discrepancies
America was divided into separate states each with its own small
self-government system. Although this sounds fairly democratic, it
wasnt considering the English made up most of the states
government. The Americans realized that if they were to continue
their allegiance to the British, they would never be granted the
freedom they desired. This is a large contributing factor that
ultimately lead to victory of the revolutionary war
