I’m extremely proud of the strides we’ve made to re-invigorate our Hampton Roads Chapter over the past year. We accomplished a lot this year, but I wanted to focus on our professional development efforts. If you were able to attend all of our chapter’s professional development events you earned a whopping 22 hours of continuing education toward your DoD FM Certification. Additionally, being active in our chapter enabled many of our members to represent their services at the National PDI in San Diego (up to an additional 24 credit hours). As a professional organization this is one of the key areas where we provide value to our members. None of this happens without the hard work and dedication of our people and we had an outstanding team this year. I’d like to personally thank, Ms. Pamela F. Sutton, Ms. Cynthia Williamson, Chief Christine Daniels, MSgt Brandy Cotton, SrA Andrew Brooks, Ms. Zena Ingram, Capt Trevor Spiro, CDR Sheldon Jenkins, LCDR Jodi Phillips, LT Brad Hanover, Ms. Deanna Morinec, Ms. Laura Sorensen, Ms. Paula Crawford, and Ms. Karen Heim. I’d also like to thank everyone who volunteered to speak during our professional development events, our partners at the Association of Government Accountants, and all of our members who attended and supported us. The honorable Ellen Helmerson (Army) will be taking over as our next president and she brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership experience to the Hampton Roads ASMC Chapter. I truly believe we are on the verge of being recognized as one of the best ASMC Chapters again and I’d like to challenge our members and those who are considering joining ASMC to get out and get involved. You’ve spent 40 dollars on your ASMC membership……so invest in yourself and utilize our chapter to cultivate your skills and abilities, meet new people and make new friends, earn continuing education credits, help the community, and make a difference. It’s been an honor and a privilege to serve as your President. Sincerely, JT
