Springtime Reminder For Turkey Hunters – Safety First

Hunting is safe and getting safer, but hunters asked to check their

safety list.

Springtime Reminder For Turkey Hunters - Safety First

Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks

PRATT, KS --(Ammoland.com)- The youth/disabled and archery

spring turkey seasons began April 1 and run through April 12, and the

regular season runs April 13-May 31. During these seasons, Kansas

hunters must remember one word that exemplifies the perfect hunt:

safety.

Responsible hunters are sure of their targets — and what lies beyond

them — before firing, and they hunt defensively to protect themselves

from the mistakes of others.

The following are just a few defensive safety tips to follow when pursuing

America’s largest game bird this spring:

• set up against a stump, tree, or rock that is wider than your

shoulders and higher than your head;

• never wear or carry the colors red, white, light blue, or black — the

colors of a wild turkey gobbler — when turkey hunting;

• eliminate movement and set up in open timber rather than thick

brush;

• avoid imitating the sound of a gobbling turkey;

• watch other game and listen for the alarm cries of blue jays, crows,

squirrels, or woodpeckers that can tip you off to the presence of

another hunter;

• assume any noise you hear is another hunter; and

• never move, wave, or make turkey sounds to alert another hunter

of your presence but remain still and call out in a loud, clear voice

to announce.

Including the archery-only season and youth/disabled seasons, Kansas

hunters will be able to hunt for two full months. During the youth

season, youth 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult 18 or

older.

The adult may not hunt during the youth season (except with archery

equipment). No hunting license is required for resident hunters 15 and

younger, but a valid Kansas turkey permit is required.

Department of Wildlife and Parks or visit the agency’s website,

habitats that are vital for the survival of migratory waterfowl. To date,

more than $2.5 million has been raised.

The Division began requiring trout stamps in the 1950s. Trout stamp art

was first used in 1977. The fees paid for Trout Stamps are used to

purchase rainbow and brown trout from commercial hatcheries. The

purchased trout are stocked in two downstate ponds and selected

SAF Files Amended BloombergComplaint With AdditionalPlaintiffs in NY Gun Rights CaseAPR 06, 2011 07:06P.M.

SAF Files Amended Bloomberg Complaint With Additional

Plaintiffs in NY Gun Rights Case

Second Amendment Foundation

BELLEVUE, WA --(Ammoland.com)- The Second Amendment

Foundation announced this morning that it has filed an amended

complaint in federal district court against New York Mayor Michael

Bloomberg and the City of New York over exorbitant gun licensing fees,

adding two additional plaintiffs who came forward asking to be part of

the legal action.

SAF Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb said with these additional

plaintiffs, there are now seven private citizens who have joined SAF and

the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association in the lawsuit.

“We are being overwhelmed with calls following yesterday’s

announcement about the lawsuit,” Gottlieb acknowledged.

“We want to assure everyone that they do not need to be part

of the lawsuit in order to benefit from a victory.

“SAF truly appreciates the wave of enthusiasm and support

from New York gun owners,” he continued. “We need to

move forward right now, and if people would like to support

our lawsuit with a tax-exempt contribution to SAF, we would

welcome that.”

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Federal District Court for the Southern

District of New York. Plaintiffs are represented by attorney David

Jensen.

“Almost immediately after the lawsuit was filed,” Gottlieb

said, “our phones started ringing as people wanted to join the

lawsuit. We simply cannot take on more plaintiffs at this

point and further delay the process.

“We do not want New York’s outrageous $340 license fee to

continue one more day than it has to,” he explained. “Imagine

if this was a poll tax. How many New Yorkers would be

storming city hall right now, demanding their voting rights?

The city’s excessive gun licensing fee amounts to the same

egregious assault on every citizen’s right to self-protection in

their own home.”

About:

The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) is the nation’s oldest

and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action

group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own

and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to

more than 650,000 members and supporters and conducts many

programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of

gun control. SAF has previously funded successful firearms-related suits

against the cities of Los Angeles; New Haven, CT; and San Francisco on

behalf of American gun owners, a lawsuit against the cities suing gun

makers and an amicus brief and fund for the Emerson case holding the

Second Amendment as an individual right.

Talking Points For Winning TheGun Magazine Size DebateAPR 06, 2011 04:43P.M.

Talking Points For Winning The Gun Magazine Size Debate

By Alan Korwin

Staunch pro-gun writer Alan Korwin has come up with a very

handy and effective “talking points” list.

If confronted by the hysteria driven rhetoric of magazine

bans, especially based upon the Arizona lunacy of Jared

Loughner, we highly recommend you have Alan’s rebuttals

close at hand.

Please print out this article and pass it around to gun shops,

shooting ranges, and at gun shows. We all need to wield

pointed and effective responses to the gun grabbers’

hysterical blathering and phony hand wringing. If we remain

silent they will win. ~ Jews For The Preservation Of Firearms

Ownership

Gunlaws.com

PHOENIX, AZ --(Ammoland.com)- Depriving the public of gear as a

way to stop murderers is misguided, puts you at risk, and at its core, is a

thinly disguised effort to get to zero-round magazines—in the false and

dangerous belief that disarming innocent people will finally disarm

criminals.

Legislators asked me to prepare this list.

The Crux

• By focusing on magazine size instead of ways to stop active

shooters you jeopardize everyone’s safety.

• Hoping to limit murderers by limiting magazines is irrational and

hoplophobic.

• Why have people picked a ten-round limit? Why not two?

• Are they saying it’s OK to only kill ten people? That makes no

sense.

• Would you make police obey the same limit? Why not?

Parity with Police: The public faces the same criminals police do. Any

restrictions for the public must match what police can use: The public is

always first at the scene.

• If you can’t justify impeding the police with ammunition limits, you

cannot legitimately justify impeding the public that way.

• What’s needed to stop rampages is not another law written on

paper, but speedier law enforcement, or any armed people who can

respond.

• A criminal can’t legally have a magazine of any size. A law

restricting size adds nothing.

None of these arguments matter to the opposition. People who want to

restrict magazines are on a roll, using the Tucson assassinations for

momentum. They want any kind of gun bans they can get, regardless of

crime fighting, public safety, logic or reason. They are emotionally

compromised.

• Limiting the amount of ammunition a person has for self defense is

dangerous.

• The only way to stop a lethal attack is with countervailing force.

• The correct response to a mass murderer is not to restrict the

public, but to empower the public and give us every advantage

possible.

• People are always the first responders. Police are second

responders. We face the same criminals. We both need the best

tools we can get.

• We know laws banning murder and armed criminals don’t stop

criminals. Why would you want to do more of the same when you

know it doesn’t work? (Because it’s a hoplophobic response, not a

rational one.)

• Will magazine-size bans feel good, as if you’re really doing

something? Yes. Will they actually do something? No.

• Infringing on the size of a magazine doesn’t stop crazy people.

Imagining that it somehow will, now that’s crazy.

• An infringed-capacity magazine violates your civil rights.

Reasoning

• Will a magazine limit stop a murderer from carrying several guns?

Of course not.

• Will it prevent swapping out magazines? How do you propose

controlling that?

• Infringing on magazine size has no effect on the millions of

magazines already out there.

• Limiting the public doesn’t limit criminals. It just limits the public.

Trying to stop crime or crazy people by limiting magazine size can’t

work. We tried that, for ten years under Clinton’s size ban. It’s a proven

failure. The NY Times admitted this in no uncertain terms.

www.gunlaws.com/NewYorkTimesAndGuns.htm

• The public should have at least as much ammunition as police can

have.

• Because people face the same criminals police do, we honestly need

equal gear.

• Attacking the right to an uninfringed magazine because of one

assassin is a political game, not a meaningful solution to homicidal

rampages.

• Using a tragic homicidal assault for leverage against civil rights is

reprehensible.

• Using tragedy to advance a political agenda aimed at incrementally

disarming the public is the ugliest underbelly of politics. It’s

shameful.

Killing Is Fun! Someone has to say it—With constant Technicolor

promotion of “the thrill of killing” from Hollywood and TV, we can

expect another homicidal rampage. We must be ready to stop it when it

inevitably occurs.

They’re not deranged, they’re imitating –

With Hollywood and the networks glorifying immoral behavior,

portraying killers as heroes to be emulated, and mourned when put

down, it’s false to classify copycat crimes as mental disease.

The proper response to the recognition that people can go berserk and

cause mayhem is to foster a culture of marksmanship.

• From army posts to grocery stores, homicidal attacks take place in

make-believe gun free zones. Paper signs do not deter murderers.

• A phony gun-free zone made by posting a sign may feel good, but it

has been repeatedly proven to be dangerous and negligent.

• A person who posts a no-guns-allowed sign should be liable if it

causes harm. See the model legislation at gunlaws.com.

http://www.gunlaws.com/GFZ/GFZ-BillReview.htm

• Murderous carnage has nothing to do with magazine size and

everything to do with opportunity. Crowds of unarmed people offer

murderers a field day.

• If legislation really could stop criminals there wouldn’t be any.

• Laws do not stop crime. Law enforcement stops crime.

It’s time to broadly promote National Training Week from July 4

through 11, when all Americans are encouraged to go to the range and

practice. Details at gunlaws.com.

http://www.gunlaws.com/NationalTrainingWeek.htm

It’s time to consider a tax break or tax credit to encourage people to go to

the range and improve their readiness and skills.

Millions of 30-round and larger magazines are not used for killing,

they’re used at ranges, which is where most legal gun use is conducted.

• Attacks on magazines are attacks on ranges, the home court for the

Second Amendment, the bottom line on legal gun use.

• Attacks on magazines are attacks on the heart of the right to keep

and bear arms.

• Disarm criminals first.

Politically Corrected Glossary

• Always frame the debate as pro rights vs. anti rights, never as pro

gun vs. anti gun, which yields ground to the antis.

• This is a civil-rights issue, a question of fundamental human rights.

• Always talk about discreet carry, a cultural and civilized norm,

never about concealed carry, which sounds like you have

something to hide.

• Always refer to personal sidearms, a neutral and non-inflammatory

term, never to handguns, a word that has been vilified beyond

usefulness.

• Remember that assault is a kind of behavior, not a kind of

hardware. The media loves that word because it spins the debate to

their liking, and makes firearms automatically bad, instead of true

focus on bad actors.

• Always ask a person who questions assault weapon possession

what guns they’re talking about exactly. They do not know.

• Any weapon you can own is an ordinary household firearm, the

type you might find in any American household.

Don’t waste time and audience attention correcting ignorant reporters

who talk about clips or bullets. Let them remain self-evidently ignorant.

The adjusted NICS data was derived by NSSF by subtracting out all NICS

purpose-code permit checks used by several states such as Kentucky,

Iowa and Utah for CCW permit application checks as well as checks on

active CCW permit databases.

While not a direct correlation to firearms sales, the NSSF-adjusted NICS

data provide a more accurate picture of current market conditions.

other purposes, NICS is used to check transactions of firearms sales and

transfers on new and used handguns and long guns. For additional

NYSRPA Files Lawsuit AgainstNYC Over Pistol License FeesAPR 06, 2011 03:39P.M.

NYSRPA Files Lawsuit Against NYC Over Pistol License Fees

New York State Rifle and Pistol Association

TROY, NY --(Ammoland.com)- The New York State Rifle & Pistol

Association (NYSRPA) in conjunction with the Second Amendment

Foundation (SAF) have filed suit against the City of New York over the

fees charged by the New York City Police Department for the costs

associated with the processing of pistol license applications.

NYSRPA believes that both the City and State of New York violate the

Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment by requiring the

payment of fees as a prerequisite for the lawful exercise of the specifically

enumerated individual civil right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by

the 2nd Amendment.

“The U.S. Supreme Court has recently made it clear that individuals have

a right to own guns. Government cannot place arbitrary financial

constraints upon those wishing to exercise this right any more than it can

for those wishing to exercise their right to vote, ” said Tom King,

President of NYSRPA.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg himself publicly acknowledged the

indefensible nature of the fee structure last October when he urged the

City Council to lower the costs specifically to avoid a lawsuit:

“We want to be in compliance with the law … so that we don’t want to

lose the ability to have reasonable controls. If we have controls that the

courts have ruled too onerous or too unfair, we could lose the whole

thing.”

The City Council ignored the Mayor and flatly refused to take up this

issue. NYSRPA has no choice but to take the issue to court.

SAF Files Federal LawsuitAgainst Bloomberg Over GunPermit FeesAPR 06, 2011 03:32P.M.

SAF Files Federal Lawsuit Against Bloomberg Over Gun

Permit Fees

Second Amendment Foundation

BELLEVUE, WA --(Ammoland.com)- The Second Amendment

Foundation filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against New York Mayor

Michael Bloomberg that alleges New York City’s $340 fee for a permit to

keep a handgun in the home is “excessive and impermissibly burdens

the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.”

SAF is joined in the lawsuit by the New York State Rifle & Pistol

Association and five individual New York City residents. Also named as a

defendant in the lawsuit is New York Attorney General Eric

Schneiderman.

“Under state law,” said SAF Executive Vice President Alan

Gottlieb, “the maximum fee for issuing a New York State

handgun license is $10, but the law exempts citizens living in

New York City. That exemption allows the city to charge an

exorbitant fee for the license, which discourages city residents

from exercising their civil rights while violating the Equal

Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.

“For decades the City has charged its residents exorbitant

license fees that far exceed the fees charged by other states

and cities that impose them,” said attorney David Jensen,

who is representing the plaintiffs. “The effect of this is to

force a punitive tax on New York City citizens who choose to

own firearms in compliance with the law. But people have a

constitutional right to keep and bear arms, and the City

cannot simply impose fees for the sake of burdening law-

abiding gun owners.”

“The New York State Rifle & Pistol Association was founded

141 years ago in New York City and we are proud to

participate in an action to help restore the Second

Amendment rights of all New York City residents,” said

NYSRPA President Tom King.

In its lawsuit, SAF notes that the $340 fee is not used to

defray administrative costs, so there appears to be no

purpose for it other than to discourage people from applying

for a permit. The excessive fee, according to Gottlieb, puts the

exercise of a constitutional right solely within the financial

reach of the wealthy class, essentially turning a civil right into

a privilege for the rich and well-connected.

“New York is one of only two states that require a permit just

to keep a handgun in one’s own home,” Gottlieb said.

“Citizens in the other 48 states would consider that an

outrage. The city’s residence premises’ handgun license

amounts to a charge of more than $100 annually to keep a

handgun in one’s home, which is ridiculous. Mayor

Bloomberg is essentially taxing the fundamental right to

defend one’s self in his or her own home. We cannot think of

anything more egregious than perpetuating a fee structure

that puts a financial obstacle in the way of citizens who want

to protect their homes and families.

“We believe the only recourse is to take this issue to the

federal court,” he concluded. “Billionaires like Mayor

Bloomberg can be cavalier about a citizen’s rights, but we

can’t, and we won’t.”

Jim Denney’s Artwork Selected for Alabama Waterfowl Stamp

Ringed-Neck Ducks Painted By Jim Denney

Outdoor Alabama

Alabama --(Ammoland.com)- A pair of ringed-neck ducks painted by

Jim Denney of Alexander City, Ala., is the winner of the 2011 Alabama

Waterfowl Stamp Art Contest. The winning artwork will adorn the 2012-

2013 Alabama Waterfowl Stamp.

The annual contest, sponsored by the Alabama Department of

Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) Wildlife and Freshwater

Fisheries Division (WFF), is open to all resident Alabama artists only.

Denney previously won the 2007 contest with a painting of hooded

mergansers. Contest rules prevented him from entering again until this

year. Denney is flattered to have his artwork selected as the winner for

the second time in as many entries. “It’s a big honor. There are some

really good artists in this state,” he said.

This year’s first runner-up is a pair of white-fronted geese painted by

Steven Burney of Town Creek, Ala. A Canada goose painted by Bill Stem

of Madison, Ala., was selected as second runner-up, while a cinnamon

teal painted by Neil Pope of Union Grove, Ala., was third runner-up.

Fourth runner-up was by Everett Hatcher, who painted a blue-winged

teal.

Entries were judged on suitability for reproduction as a stamp,

originality, artistic composition, anatomical accuracy and general

rendering. The designs were limited to living species of North American

migratory ducks or geese, and winning species from the past three years

– wood duck, northern pintail drake and American wigeon – were not

eligible subjects for the 2011 contest.

The artwork was publicly displayed and judged by a panel of experts in

the fields of art, ornithology, and conservation. Representing the field of

art was Jonathan Matthews, a Montgomery artist who has studied in

Norway and France. Representing the field of ornithology was Dagmar

Thurmond, a wildlife biologist with the U.S. Forest Service. Representing

the field of conservation was Frank Boyd, a wildlife biologist and state

director of the USDA Wildlife Services office in Auburn.

The funds from stamp sales are used to procure and manage wetland

habitats for waterfowl. All licensed waterfowl hunters are required to

purchase state and federal migratory waterfowl stamps or to purchase

the privilege. Like the federal stamps, state issued stamps are popular

with collectors. The artwork competition for the Alabama Migratory

Waterfowl Stamp design is held each year in February and is open to

Alabama residents only.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources

promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s

natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine

Resources, State Lands, State Parks, and Wildlife and Freshwater

Fisheries. To learn more about ADCNR and the waterfowl stamp design

OIA Presents Senators Burr &Wyden the 2011 Friend of theOutdoor Industry AwardsAPR 06, 2011 03:15P.M.

Outdoor Industry Association Presents Senators Burr and

Wyden the 2011 Friend of the Outdoor Industry Awards

Outdoor Industry Association

BOULDER, CO --(Ammoland.com)- The 2011 Outdoor Industry

Association (OIA) Friend of the Outdoor Industry Awards will be

presented to Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Senator Richard Burr (R-

NC) in recognition of their leadership in support of the active outdoor

recreation industry.

The awards will be presented later today during the annual Outdoor

Industry Association Capitol Summit in Washington, D.C.

“Senator Burr and Senator Wyden have demonstrated strong

leadership on behalf of the outdoor recreation industry. They

have both led significant legislation initiatives that ensure the

growth of our nation’s recreation infrastructure and the

health of the outdoor industry supply chain,” said Frank

Hugelmeyer, president & CEO of OIA. “We are deeply

thankful for their efforts.”

Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) is a member of the Senate Finance

Committee where he is chair of the subcommittee on Trade, Customs

and Global Competitiveness. He also serves on the Senate Committee on

Energy and Natural Resources, where he chairs the Subcommittee on

Public Lands and Forests. These two committee assignments make him a

key and valued advocate for the OIA Policy Agenda on both trade and

recreation issues.

Wyden is the lead sponsor of the OIA signature trade initiative, the U.S.

OUTDOOR Act, legislation that would create distinct classifications for

outdoor performance apparel, eliminate import tariffs on these products

and use a portion of those duty savings to reinvest back in U.S.-based

organizations that advance research into sustainable textile and apparel

production.

On public lands and conservation, Senator Wyden, has been a vocal

advocate in support of funding for the Land and Water Conservation

Fund (LWCF), the National Park Service and the Forest Legacy Program

— all programs central to preserving public lands for recreation in

America.

Wyden was a cosponsor of S. 2747, the Land and Water Conservation

Authorization and Funding Act, legislation that would fully fund the

Land and Water Conservation Fund. In advocating for passage of the

bill, Senator Wyden recognized outdoor recreation as a huge “economic

bonanza for our nation” during a speech on the Senate floor.

Peter Bragdon, general counsel at Columbia Sportswear, will present the

award to Sen. Wyden at tonight’s Friend of the Outdoor Industry Awards

reception on Capitol Hill.

“Senator Wyden’s leadership on trade issues will ensure the

development of innovative products, make performance

outerwear more affordable for consumers and will stimulate

job growth in the outdoor recreation industry,” said Bragdon.

Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) is a member of the Senate Committee on

Energy and Natural Resources Committee, where he serves as Ranking

Member of the Subcommittee on National Parks. In this role, he has

proven to be an important Republican ally and leader in the fight for

increased funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

In the 111th Congress, Senator Burr stepped forward as an unabashed

champion of full funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

Sen. Burr carried his support directly to Republican and Democratic

leadership, authoring a letter that three of his Republican colleagues

signed, stating:

“The LWCF has enjoyed strong bi-partisan support since it

was authorized more than 45 years ago. Americans

throughout the nation have enjoyed the national parks,

forests and refuges that have benefited from the program, as

well as state and local neighborhood parks in countless

communities in every state. Hunting, fishing, camping,

climbing, hiking, paddling, backcountry skiing, mountain

biking, wildlife viewing and other activities contribute a total

of $730 billion annually to the economy, supporting 6.5

million jobs and stimulating eight percent of all consumer

spending according to the Outdoor Industry Foundation.

Numerous conservation, sportsmen and industry groups

support full and dedicated funding for this program.”

Sutton Bacon, CEO of Nantahala Outdoor Center will present the 2011

Friend of the Outdoor Industry Award to Senator Burr.

“Senator Burr worked tirelessly with OIA and the LWCF

coalition through the fall and into the final days of the

congressional session to advocate for full funding for LWCF

to develop strategies to see it over the finish line. While the

effort was ultimately unsuccessful, Senator Burr’s leadership

made full funding for LWCF a bi-partisan issue and set us up

to continue the fight,” said Bacon.

The Friend of the Outdoor Industry Award is presented annually to

members of Congress and administration officials in recognition for their

leadership in support of the active outdoor recreation industry.

Past recipients of the Friend of the Outdoor Industry Award

include:

• 2010: Congressman Mike Castle (R-DE), Congressman Earl

Global Rescue Performs Field Rescue & Medical Evacuation of

Hunter From Cameroon

Global Rescue

Cameroon, Africa --(Ammoland.com)- Global RescueGlobal Rescue

has rescued a client from a remote camp in Cameroon over the weekend

and transported him to his home in Eastern Europe.

Bela Hidvegi, a veteran of African travels, was hunting dwarf buffalo in

the rainforest about 15 hours by car from the capital, Yaounde, when he

began to experience nausea, vomiting and digestive problems.

A rudimentary local clinic diagnosed him with malaria and prescribed

medication. Because his condition continued to deteriorate over the next

48 hours, Global Rescue’s medical team reviewed the case, believed the

diagnosis to be incorrect and recommended an immediate field rescue

from the jungle to Yaounde.

Global Rescue dispatched a helicopter to Hidvegi’s camp near the town

of Doume and flew him to the capital for further evaluation. There, he

was seen at a private hospital, diagnosed with a bacterial infection and

prescribed antibiotics. Hidvegi was then transported to his home in

Budapest. He is expected to make a full recovery.

About Global Rescue

Advanced Swiss Polymer Aids inFighting TerrorAPR 06, 2011 12:57P.M.

Advanced Swiss Polymer Aids in Fighting Terror

Advanced Swiss-made Polymer Adds Strength to Israeli-Made Mako

Group Equipment Used for Fighting Terror.

Makosecurity.com

FARMINGDALE, New York --(Ammoland.com)- When FAB Defense

(Marketed in the US under the Mako Group name) upgraded the T-POD

Foregrip Bipod, they searched for the best materials available today.

The search led to a highly advanced reinforced polymer material

manufactured only in Switzerland.

This material is shipped to Israel and used for the construction of the

second generation T-PODs.

Mako Group T-POD Foregrip Bipod

The T-POD is a forward vertical grip with a built-in bipod. In the bipod

mode, the T-POD is a fully functional bipod with a wide, stable stance,

and independently adjustable legs. In addition to the basic T-POD, there

are versions with built-in tactical lights or light mounts.

The first generation T-POD was tested in combat by Israeli counter-

terror operatives. It was then issued to Israeli Special Operations units

and to many US military and law enforcement organizations.

Feedback from these organizations resulted in the second generation T-

POD (T-POD G2). The T-POD G2 is initially available in a quick-release

version (T-POD G2 QR) and a pivoting and rotating quick release version

(T-POD G2 PR). The bipod controls have been simplified, and the release

button has been moved to allow operation with the thumb. The second

generation features a more compact shape and size than the first

generation foregrip bipod.

“Our T-POD vertical foregrip bipods have proven very

effective in urban counter-terror and combat operations,”

Addy Sandler, CEO of The Mako Group reports, “The G2

design incorporates improvements to the original design

based on feedback from real-world users. In order to make

the thinner G2 design even stronger than the original T-POD,

an advanced polymer was sourced that, though expensive, is

the strongest in the world for this purpose.”

The polymer material was originally available only in black, but an effort

was made to find a way to manufacture other colors without degrading

its strength. The T-POD G2 is now available in black, dark earth, and

olive drab.

According to Mr. Sandler, the shape of the first generation T-POD is

preferred by many shooters, while the slimmer T-POD G2 is preferred by

others. Both designs will be available concurrently. Pricing for the new

T-PODs is only slightly higher than the first generation T-PODs, despite

the increased cost of production. They are manufactured by FAB Defense

in Israel and available in the US through The Mako Group

Ultimate Training Munitions Supports 28Th Annual David E.

Training Munitions to Help Heighten Realism During Grueling 60-

Hour Contest.

UTM Blue Bolt Weapon Conversion

Ultimate Training Munitions

NORTH BRANCH, NJ --(Ammoland.com)- Ultimate Training

Munitions (UTM), a leading provider of weapon conversions and

training ammunition for armed forces and law enforcement agencies

around the world, today announced its support of the 2011 David E.

Grange Jr. Best Ranger Competition (BRC).

UTM’s training ammunition system is the key product for the urban

assault event scheduled for the first day of the competition, taking place

at Fort Benning, Georgia, from April 15-17. UTM’s weapon conversion

kits, part of the US Army Close Combat Mission Capability Kit (CCMCK)

Program, will be utilized to help enhance the realistic nature of various

BRC events.

“UTM’s products afford the competing Ranger teams the

opportunity for increased realism during the competition but

with less risk of getting hurt since they’ll be using non-lethal

live fire ammunition,” said Eric Seto, UTM master trainer

and retired US Army First Sergeant.

All Ranger teams will have their weapons converted to UTM at some

point during the competition. The UTM Blue Bolt weapon conversion

adapts standard service weapons, including M16/M4 rifles and M249

machine guns, for use in various real-world training scenarios. By

removing the live bolt and inserting the UTM Blue Bolt users can convert

from lethal live fire to non-lethal in approximately 30 seconds. The UTM

Blue Bolt offers an important fail-safe safety feature – the 3mm offset

firing pin. When the weapon is converted with the UTM Blue Bolt, the

safety feature prevents denotation of live ammunition, M200 blanks or

any other center-fired primer ammunition.

Competitors will also utilize UTM’s Blue Magazine. Designed with safety

in mind, the Blue Magazine is manufactured with internal components

that will only accept UTM Non-Lethal Training Ammunition (NLTA):

UTM’s Man Marker Rounds, Reduced Velocity Rounds, Battlefield Blank

Rounds and Silent Blank Rounds. Live, lethal ammunition is longer than

UTM training ammunition and therefore can’t be loaded into the

magazine and then loaded into the weapon.

The three-day Best Ranger Competition, designed to push Rangers to

their limits, was established in 1982 and has been compared to both

Ironman and Eco-Challenge competitions. The BRC challenges two-man

Ranger teams in events that test physical conditioning, Ranger skills and

team strategies. The physically and mentally demanding three-day

competition features back-to-back events, allowing little time for rest

and meals.

Wisconsin Constitutional Carry– What’s the Delay?APR 06, 2011 10:26A.M.

Wisconsin Constitutional Carry – What’s the Delay?

Wisconsin Gun Owners

Wisconsin --(Ammoland.com)- Why is self-defense not a priority for

these republicans?

As you know, the Wisconsin Campaign for Liberty (C4L) and Wisconsin

Gun Owners (WGO) have delivered a legislative proposal for

constitutional carry to key republicans.

But now we’re being told that even though a draft is ready, some

republicans want to waste your time in caucus discussing it.

Say what? Why are gun owners being stonewalled?

The best bill possible is on the table. A bill that would eliminate the

government ban on constitutional concealed carry in Wisconsin … lock,

stock and barrel.

So what’s the delay? Why won’t they return our calls?

Rumors have been flying that the NRA has gotten involved here in

Wisconsin and is pushing for a watered-down concealed carry bill. A bill

that may very well force you to beg the government for permission to

exercise your Second amendment rights.

However, the legislation that you and I want is very simple: Repeal the

carry prohibition to allow unrestricted constitutional carry. Anything less

will NOT be acceptable.

We’ve heard for years the same excuse: Without a republican governor or

control of both houses, Vermont-style concealed carry will never, ever,

ever happen here in the Badger State.

Well guess what? Now that we’ve handed republicans the holy grail of

political power – both state houses and the governor’s seat – they still

appear to be doing next to nothing.

Now is the time to pass a true constitutional carry bill; but are politicians

*123456* Lineitem #123456, tabblo #1, page 19 (19 of 21), generated 2011-04-07 02:45:16.811154 on g1t0307, dpi=225

20

cutting deals and getting ready to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?

That very well could be the case.

So the message we must send to Madison is: Introduce the C4L and

WGO Concealed Carry Bill!

We need you to contact your state assembly and senate representative

right now and tell them that you will not accept anything less than a pure

constitutional carry bill.

Tell them that if they support a watered-down replacement bill, one

requiring you to beg for your Second Amendment rights, that you will

vote to replace them in the next election.

It’s very simple: No carry bill. Or a bad carry bill. Equals no vote.

This is serious business. So, why are republicans delaying your right to

protect yourself?

Is your family’s safety not important to them?

Why are republicans toiling away working on bear hunting legislation?

(We’re pro-bear hunting, but where’s the sense of priority?)

I cannot stress enough how absolutely essential it is that you call your

state representative and state senator and insist that they support and

rush to introduction the concealed carry bill drafted by Wisconsin Gun

Owners (WGO), Campaign for Liberty (C4L), Gun Owners of America

(GOA) and National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR).

Yes, I know staffers will tell you that there are several bills being

considered for circulation, and that legislators are figuring out how to

“combine” them. Right. This is a nice way of saying, “Go away and we’ll

tell you what you get.”

But when you combine something pure with … something rotten, you

just end up with something rotten. Nowhere is that more true than with

respect to our inalienable rights. “Shall Not Be Infringed” means just

that.

Elected to power by gun owners and conservatives, state republicans

moved fast on the economy. They are moving fast on several hunting-

related bills, which are being introduced.

But the most important bill of all - the one to FULLY restore your right

to carry for self-defense - is being put in the political meat grinder.

It is imperative that the WGO-C4L legislation be introduced immediately

without any further delay. Again, this legislation does not have a bill

number because it has not been introduced.

Therefore, it is critical that you ask your representatives to get moving

right now on the WGO-C4L Constitutional Carry legislation. Get moving

and introduce the bill.

Corey Graff Executive Director P.S. – Why is self-defense not a priority

for Wisconsin republicans?

The WGO-C4L legislation is THE high-water mark for restoration of

concealed carry in Wisconsin. Urge your representative to support real

Second Amendment legislation.

About:

WGO works for grassroots gun owners, not politicians. While many gun

lobbies fight for “reasonable gun control,” WGO sets a higher standard:

Defining the terrain of pro-gun political battle. Sure, many groups claim

they’re “pro-gun” – all the while they provide cover for anti-gun deals cut

by politicians – but only WGO truly informs gun owners, remaining

committed to a 100% pro-gun position. We oppose all gun control –

regardless of the political party – and work tirelessly to restore the

Second Amendment. Visit www.wisconsingunowners.org

Federal Grand Jury Indicts Three Dallas-Area Men on Federal

Firearms Charges

Defendants Allegedly Made “Straw Purchases” in “Lying and Buying”

to Illegally Acquire Firearms for Others.

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives

DALLAS, TX --(Ammoland.com)- DALLAS – A federal grand jury in

Dallas has charged three local men with various federal firearms offenses

related to their scheme to illegally acquire firearms they intended to

transfer to others, announced U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the

Northern District of Texas.

The three defendants, Ranferi Osorio, 27, and his brother, Otilio Osorio,

22, and Kelvin Leon Morrison, 25, have been in custody since their arrest

on Feb. 28, 2011, by agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,

Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and other state and local agencies, on

charges in related criminal complaints.

The six-count indictment, returned today, charges each defendant with

one count of conspiracy to acquire a firearm from a licensed dealer by

false or fictitious statement and four substantive counts of that offense.

It also charges Ranferi and Otilio Osorio with one count of possessing a

firearm with an obliterated serial number.

According to the indictment, if a person buys a firearm for someone else

but claims that he or she is the actual transferee/buyer of the listed

firearm(s), the firearm acquisition is called a “straw purchase” and the

conduct is called “lying and buying.” The indictment alleges that

beginning in July 2010 and continuing through at least Nov. 2010, the

defendants made false statements to a licensed dealer to illegally procure

at least 10 firearms, that they intended to transfer to others. Together

they formulated a plan that included selecting the licensed dealers and

the types of firearms to be purchased and acquiring the firearms from

those dealers by making false statements intended to deceive the firearm

dealer.

The indictment also alleges that on Nov. 9, 2010, the Osorio brothers

knowingly possessed 12 Romarm, Model Draco, 7.62×39 caliber pistols

which had the serial numbers obliterated.

An indictment is an accusation by a federal grand jury, and a defendant

is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty.

However, if convicted, each count of acquiring a firearm from a licensed

dealer by making a false or fictitious statement carries a maximum

statutory sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Upon

conviction, the conspiracy count and the possession of a firearm with a

removed or obliterated serial number, each carry a maximum statutory

sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the ATF, DEA, FBI, U.S.

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security

Investigations and the Lancaster, Texas, Police Department. Deputy

Criminal Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary Tromblay is in charge of the

prosecution.
