I will be analysing magazine

covers: The first magazine I

will be analysing is the

‘Billboard’ magazine with

the cover featuring Lady

Gaga.

Image 1. The image is shot in a studio as there is a grey backdrop. One of the main reason why the photographer might

of shot the pictures in a studio is because it would drag all the attention on Lady Gaga as the background is less attention dragging.

2. In the image there is only one person being Lady Gaga. This may be because Lady Gaga is a solo singer and not a group. Another reason why there is only one person is because she may of won a award.

3. The image is Mid shot as we can see Lady Gaga’s head and her upper top body but her lags are not being shown. This again is done that way so the audience can spot Lady Gaga easier and to help drag attention to the magazine. This increase the popularity of the audience.

4. The artist has a strong posture with a seducing look. Her mouth is slightly open to portray her confidence and her hand is holding her blazer which symbioses high reputation and status.

5. Lady Gaga is wearing a bright pink wig which symbolises her confidence as she is not afraid to wear it. It also symbolises her personality which is bubbly with a lot of energy. She is also wearing a chain (rings) glove which again reveals her confidence and her power.

6. Lady Gaga is directly looking at the camera to intimidate the audience and seduce.7. The camera is placed at a eye level.

1. The master head is placed behind her with the middle of the text being covered by her wig bow.

This is to show her importance and her status and she is covering it meaning that she comes before everything else.2. There are 6 different cover lies used as it reveals bits on what's on the inside of the magazine. This drags peoples attention and helps them engage with he magazine. 3. There are 9 different fonts being used. This is so the magazine could portray their creativeness.4. There is a mixture of upper cases and lower cases5. There are 6-9 different colours and shades used.7. Most of the fonts are without flicks.

Image • The image of the artist is shot In a studio. This may be because the artist needs more attention

that the surroundings. The backdrop color is pink as it matches with the artists clothing and makeup.

• There is only one person on the front cover. This is because Katy Perry is a solo artist.• The photo of the artist is long/ mid shot as we can see all of her upper body but her knees down is

not in shot. This may be because they are advertising her dress. Helps keep focus with the artist and it also easily spotted.

• The artist again has a seducing look with a “falling in love” body posture. Body wise she is not facing the camera only her head is. This portrays acceptance.

• The artist is wearing a black dress with spring flowers which symbolizes sorrow but also imaginativeness. She is wearing a black wig with flowers which again symbolizes sorrow.
