February 11, 2018 Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time *****************************************************************************************

Please remember in your prayers all those who are sick especially:

If you would like to add someone to the prayer list please call the parish office.

If you are attending Annunciation and are not registered with the Parish as a member, we have no idea if you are a participating Catholic or not, so please register and if you can not afford to give monetarily please put a prayer card in the offertory so that we know you are attending. Also for all of you who pay by cash we really appreciate it but if you would put it in an envelope we could track that you are attending as well. It is important when it comes to all the Sacraments. We can not say you are active if we do not know. Thank you…

With all the food allergies that are in our environment today there are sometimes people who are allergic to gluten. We now provide a low gluten host to those individuals. It contains less than .001%

gluten and is approved for use by the Vatican. You must speak to Father Bill to let him know that you need low gluten host and it will be made available to you. Thank you for the generous donations of food that

we all make to the food pantry. We collected nu-merous items last week. Times are hard for a lot of families. THANK YOU for your continued

support. The item of need for February is 72 jars of peanut butter . Please help support this ministry.

to all comers as a simple meatless meal prior to the Stations of the Cross. The first one, February 16, will be hosted by Stewardship. If, as an individual, family, group, or ministry, you would like to volunteer at one of the remaining 4 Fridays, please contact the coordinator of the Simple Suppers, Denise Miller, at 252-665-3066. NORMS FOR FASTING AND ABSTINENCE Ash Wednesday, February 14, 2018, and Good Friday, March 30, 2018, are days of fasting and abstinence.

Fridays of Lent are also days of abstinence. Fasting is to be observed by all 18 years of age and older, who have not yet celebrated their 59th birthday. On a fast day one full meal is allowed. Two other meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids, including milk and juices, are allowed. Abstinence is observed by all 14 years of age and older. On days of abstinence, no meat is allowed. Note that when health or ability to work would be seriously affected, Church law does not oblige. When in doubt concerning fast and abstinence, the Parish Priest should be consulted. Fasting, almsgiving, and prayer are the three traditional disciplines of Lent. The faithful and Catechumens should undertake these practices seriously in a spirit of penance and of preparation for Initiation into the Church or the renewal of Baptismal Promises at Easter.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion ~ Catholic men & women sixteen years or older and are in good standing, which means they have received the Sac-raments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucha-rist) and if Married have been Married in the Catholic Church, are eligible for this ministry. They are to live the Gospel message in accordance with the teachings of the Church and to participate regularly in the celebration of the Sunday Eucharist and practice their Catholic Faith. They are to be registered members of the parish in which they are commis-sioned. If you are interested in joining this ministry please contact JoAnn Radicella 252-444-0740 or email [email protected]
