T he psalmist cries out to God, “Lord, in your great love, answer me.” In each of our readings today, there is movement from darkness and despair to trusting in God as our source of salvation. Jeremiah sounds almost a madman as he describes the evil and vileness that surrounds him. In the midst of that terror, he professes his faith in God. Similarly, in Saint Paul’s letter to the Romans, we are reminded that one man, Jesus Christ, came into the world for the sake of many, to overcome the evil and sin that have been prevalent since Adam. In Mark, Jesus calls us from fear, sin, and darkness to live in the light. He reminds us that we are not alone and how very pre- cious each of us is in the eyes of God. In- deed, God hears our cries! DO NOT BE AFRAID In our world today, it seems there are many things to make us fearful. We can become distraught over personal finances, relationships, poor choices our children are making, issues with jobs, the changing cli- mate, the way our parish is being run, or a zillion other things. The problems may not even be evil but may be simply life and all its challenges. But these struggles are real, and sometimes we seek unhealthy solutions. Many people suffer with issues of anxiety and depression, and fear leads others to addiction as a means of coping. In our Gospel today, God lovingly calls us beyond that darkness to light. YOU ARE WORTH MORE THAN MANY SPARROWS Sometimes we look for very complex an- swers when a simple promise or solution is right in front of us. As I am writing and looking out the window, I see half a dozen little birds sitting in a bush. Their presence is a reminder to me of God’s love and care for each and every one of us. If something that seems so insignificant or incidental is known by God, how much more are we loved and cared for! Take a moment, look at the world around you, breathe, take it in, and ask God for the help you need. Turn matters over and place your trust in a lov- ing God. Remember, though, Jesus seldom heals without some sort of action on our part. When you have given your concern over to God, other concrete steps may be neces- sary. Is it time to schedule an appointment with a professional? Time to name an is- sue? Or time for the sacrament of recon- ciliation? Evil’s power comes from remain- ing in the darkness. When we no longer close ourselves off or suffer alone but share our concerns with someone, we can begin to grow and heal and move past them. It is seldom magical or instantane- ous. It is a long arduous process. But we hold on to the simple reminder, “You are worth more than many sparrows!” Today’s Readings: Jer 20:10–13; Ps 69:810, 14, 17, 3335; Rom 5:1215; Mt 10:2633 ANNUNCIATION CHURCH "As the father sent me, so I send you." 1307 East Longden Ave., Arcadia CA 91006 Parish Office: 2707 Peck Rd., Monrovia, CA 91016 (626) 447-6202 / Fax (626) 447-9834 Website: AnnunciationChurch.net

In Mark, Jesus calls us from fear, sin, and darkness to live in the light. He reminds us that we are not alone and how very pre-cious each of us is in the eyes of God. In-deed, God hears our cries!

DO NOT BE AFRAID

In our world today, it seems there are many things to make us fearful. We can become distraught over personal finances, relationships, poor choices our children are making, issues with jobs, the changing cli-mate, the way our parish is being run, or a zillion other things.

YOU ARE WORTH MORE THAN MANY SPARROWS

Sometimes we look for very complex an-swers when a simple promise or solution is right in front of us. Turn matters over and place your trust in a lov-ing God.

Remember, though, Jesus seldom heals without some sort of action on our part. When you have given your concern over to God, other concrete steps may be neces-sary. Is it time to schedule an appointment with a professional? Time to name an is-sue? Or time for the sacrament of recon-ciliation? Evil’s power comes from remain-ing in the darkness. When we no longer close ourselves off or suffer alone but share our concerns with someone, we can begin to grow and heal and move past them. It is seldom magical or instantane-ous. It is a long arduous process. But we hold on to the simple reminder, “You are worth more than many sparrows!” Today’s Readings: Jer 20:10–13; Ps 69:8–10, 14, 17, 33–35;

Mass Schedule (Continued): First Friday, July 3rd Fr. RIP Petronila Macatula Parish Master Calendar Update: The Archdiocese of Los Angeles has approved the celebration of Mass and of the Sacraments only. We have not been approved for any other events, meet-ings, gatherings or activities on our property yet. At this point in time, we have cancelled anything that has been requested to be put on our Master Calendar through September 30th of this year. When we are approved for meetings, events, etc., we will be able to finalize our calendar and will publish it. It is our wish to welcome everyone back, but only when we are comfortable in the knowledge that it is safe to do so. Thank you for your patience.

Medjugorje Mass: Our Lady invites us to gather for Mass this Thursday, June 25 at 7:00 p.m. to honor her Son Jesus and His gift of His Holy Mother to us in Medjugorje. We thought that the churches would remain closed, but she has paved the way for us to be able to receive Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist. This Mass is to recog-nize the anniversary of her apparitions in Medjugorje. Please remember to wear your mask, Unfortunately, we will not be able to gather for fellowship fol-lowing Mass this year, as the church needs to be closed immediately following Mass to allow for proper sanitization.

Christian Service Center Information: Our Christian Service Center is relocating to a smaller area. We are accepting only non-perishable food items at this time. No other donations, please, as we adjust to our new site. Thank you. Mass Schedule: For the time being, and in consideration of current guidelines as mandated by the Center for Disease Control and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, our focus will be on offering Mass according to the new schedule outlined in the left-hand column. Our Adoration Chapel will remain closed and there will be no Liturgy of the Hours on Sunday afternoons Thank you for your understanding.

Religious Education Catechists Needed: If the Holy Spirit has entered your heart with the thought of extending your love of God toward our young people, our Religious Education Program is where you need to be! We anticipate the need for three teachers for our next school year, which will begin in late September, 2020. Classes meet on Thursday af-ternoons from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m. and lesson plans are provided for you. If you would like to volunteer for this spiritually rewarding work, or if you have ques-tions, please contact Arcie Reza at (626) 446-1625.

How To Prepare For The Celebration Of Online Masses: Prepare Externally: 1. Prepare an altar table with candle and a crucifix. 2. Respond and participate in the online Mass. If possible, follow the ritual of

standing, kneeling and being seated, as we do in church. 3. Have the Act of Spiritual Communion ready. 4. Invite the whole family and, together, join in our celebration of online Mass. Prepare Internally: 1. Have a moment of silence. 2. Call the family together and say a prayer. 3. During Communion, recite the Act of Spiritual Communion together. 4. After the online Mass, recite the Prayer to St. Michael, Archangel. 5. Go to love and share the Lord—be a cyber missionary.

¿Sabia Que? You will find this information in English posted in the bulletin board

of the vestibule of the church.

Dios, ¡cuánto más nosotros somos amados y cuida-dos! Toma un momento, mira el mundo alrededor tuyo, respira, inhala, y pide la ayuda de Dios en tus necesidades. Dale vuelta a ese asunto y pon tu confi-anza en un Dios amoroso. Recuerda, sin embargo, Jesús pocas veces sana sin algún tipo de acción de nuestra parte. Cuando pon-gas tus preocupaciones en las manos de Dios, quizá pueden ser necesarios otros pasos. ¿Es tiempo de sacar una cita con un profesional? ¿Hora de ponerle nombre al problema? ¿O es el tiempo para confe-sarse en el Sacramento de la Reconciliación? La fuerza del mal surge por permanecer en la oscuridad. Cuando ya no nos cerramos o sufrimos solos, sino que compartimos nuestras preocupaciones con al-guien, podemos empezar a crecer, sanar y empezar a superarlos. Rara vez es mágico o instantáneo. Es un proceso prologado y difícil. Pero nos aferramos a un recordatorio sencillo, “¡tú eres más valioso que muchos pájaros!” Lecturas de hoy: Jer 20:10–13; Sal 69 (68):8–10, 14, 17, 33–35; Rom 5:12–15;

Mt 10:26–33

Nỗi sợ làm người ta mất tự do, mất bình an, mất vui...

Tin Mừng hôm nay mời gọi chúng ta hãy can đảm sống thật, hành động thật và tin tưởng phó thác nơi
