From the Pastor’s Desk
I am so happy about the response to our parish celebration of the Solem-
nity of the Annunciation which occurred on March 25th. We shared a special Mass
attended by over 100 people, and had at least twice that many at the celebration
that followed. Rob Surette’s inspiring presentation and moving paintings left some
in tears and the rest amazed. What a wonderful feel of happiness and celebration
together! Someone has said “I haven’t felt the Spirit like this here for a long time,”
another said, “the parish is coming alive again!” God is with us and we should be
grateful and happy.
As we move though Lent we are reminded of the power of God to heal,
the power of God to enlighten and clear sight, the willingness of God to forgive and
reconcile. We could do well to imitate these things the Lord does for us. To help
to open our own eyes through study, to help to open the eyes of others by sharing
our faith, to be an instrument of Jesus’ healing power to those we meet, and being
as willing to forgive and reconcile as God is with us - these are all ways to lead a good
and holy Lent. We will kick off our participation in the Partners in Charity Ap-
peal. You may remember that I spoke to the Bishop and he agreed to lower our
goal to a number that is reasonable for us - I am confident that we can make it, and
this will provide for important ministries in the Diocese, while also sharing in a
collective success as a parish.
You will notice some things we have planned for April - details will be in
the bulletin and on website. “Dancing With Jesus” (a day of reflection for women),
“Everything You Always Wanted To Know About The Mass But Didn’t Have The
Time To Ask”, (a one evening guest presentation), and the annual Diocesan Men’s
Conference. Don’t forget weekly Bible Study (you can join in anytime, no prior
attendance needed), the weekly Deanery Pilgrimage, Stations of the Cross, and on-
going Intercessory and Faith Sharing groups. Wonderful and good ways to learn
and deepen your relationship with the Lord.
We have replaced many bulbs in Holy Rosary with energy-efficient LED
lighting as discussed; the hope is to provide a bit better lighting at a cost savings. I
continue to schedule meetings with contractors and architects about our projects,
and have asked our capitol committee to assemble and produce a report for the
parish on current and future maintenance and repairs needs. We have a growing
number of individuals who are in the process of being received into he Church or
completing their sacraments. In addition to the ones you may see at Mass, six men
who reside in the North Central Correctional Institute here in Gardner will also be
receiving sacraments or being baptized in the week after Easter. I can tell you that
the Men in the Prison are grateful that we acknowledge them as parishioners, and
they pray for you all each time I go there to celebrate Mass.
The life of our parish, which takes its name from the event of the incarna-
tion of Jesus, is being an instrument of God’s love and presence in Gardner. We
are blessed to be able to be part of this, we are blessed to penetrate the hardened
hearts, and prison walls with the love of God - we are blessed to share in the Eucha-
rist which makes us more deeply the Body of Christ. Jesus is good and blesses those
who walk with him.
God’s Blessings to All,
Peace,
Fr. Steve
Annunciation Parish Mission Statement:
Strengthened by the Eucharist, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and sent by Christ we seek by worship and service to compassionately
meet the corporal and spiritual needs of our parish family and beyond. We desire to warmly welcome the stranger and one another, and
together reach a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. In doing this, we are committed to the caring and ongoing Christian formation of
others by providing opportunities for spiritual, intellectual, and social growth within our faith and local community.
For those who are new or returning to the parish, we would like to welcome you to our Catholic community.
In this bulletin you will find many opportunities to be enriched and involved. If you would like to register as a
member or have any questions, call us at 978-632-0253, email us at [email protected], or stop

to share out faith in the family, the neighborhood, and the
workplace. Includes: Why Catholics Become Inactive, Sur-
rendering Friends and Family to God, Alone in the Faith:
What Are My Choices?, and more2.This workshop is a good
follow-up to the one that we just hosted on Praying for Our
Adult Children. The fee for the workshop is $5 per person.
