Thirty Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Welcome To The New Annunciation Parish!
Uniting The Catholic Community of Newington * Established June 29, 2017
We extend a warm welcome to all new families/individuals. Our parish is nourished
by your presence. We hope you feel at home here, and want to make
Annunciation Parish YOUR parish.
Every family in the parish should be properly registered. New parishioners should register
at the Parish Office. Single adults over 21 years of age should register separately from parents.
It is necessary to be registered to arrange baptisms, marriages, enroll in Religious
Education classes, and to obtain sponsor certificates for baptism and confirmation.
Annunciation Parish Offices will
be closed November 23,
Thursday, and November 24,
Friday for the
Thanksgiving Holiday.

Daly Notes...
We have finally opened bank accounts under Annunciation Parish. However, we will keep our
operating accounts open for some time. Please continue to make your checks out to either Holy
Spirit Church or Saint Mary Church until the end of the year.
I am pleased to announce the following appointments to the Annunciation Parish Finance
Committee. Manfred Becker and Brian Wood have agreed to serve as trustees. Both have been
trustees in the past. In addition, Lisa Dumais, Tim Luddy, Jacqueline MacNeill, John Rocco,
Frank Rooney, Liz-Ann St. Onge, and Bob Wilson will represent our parish as members of our
new finance committee.
The trustees and finance council will provide invaluable advice to me on financial matters as we
move forward.
This Thursday, November 23rd is Thanksgiving Day. This year we will celebrate Masses at both
Holy Spirit and Saint Mary at 9 AM. The parish offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday due
to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Finally, the priests of the Archdiocese of Hartford will once again gather in Stamford, CT for our
annual convocation. The annual gathering of priests with our Archbishop is an opportunity for
communal prayer, continuing education, pastoral planning and a little relaxation. Although we do
a lot of work, I always look forward to the convocation. Archbishop Blair has asked that all priests
attend this year’s convocation. This year’s convocation is a three-day gathering so there will be no
Mass on Tuesday (Nov. 28th), Wednesday (Nov. 29th) and Thursday (Nov. 30th). Whenever I get
together with my brother priests, it has wonderful benefits. Be assured of my prayers and I ask
that you keep all of us in your prayers.

The Catholic Campaign for
Human Development
Please be generous in this week’s second
collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human
Development. In the United States, one in six
people lives in poverty.
With this collection you support programs that
address the causes of poverty and provide a
sustainable future for those who are struggling
across the country. In addition, 25 percent of
funds collected remains in our diocese to fund
local anti-poverty projects.
Please prayerfully consider how you can sup-
port this collection and work on the margins.

Pro-Life Thought of the Week
Pope Paul VI cautioned against four
main problems (HV7). First, he
warned that the widespread use of
contraception would lead to
“conjugal infidelity and the general
lowering of morality.” Exactly this
has happened. Few would deny that
the rates of abortion, divorce, family
breakdown, wife and child abuse,
veneral disease and out of wedlock
births have all massively increased
since the mid– 1960’s.
