Student AchievementsWe are so very proud of Bowerbird class and in particular, Noah who represented his class last Tuesday evening at our P&C meeting. Bowerbird class have been planning a lizard sanctuary for our school and have done many hours of research about their habitat, environmental and food requirements. Each student wrote a persuasive letter convincing Mrs Harrison of the benefits of a lizard sanctuary for both the lizards and our school. Noah then read his letter to our P&C and requested they fund his class $150 to establish it. Our P&C members were reduced to tears and would probably have handed over any amount of money Noah requested! Well done to Magpie students Nevaeh, Amelia, Hamish, Angus and Ryan who have achieved Mathletics certificates. Congratulations to all these students and keep up your fantastic efforts.Stamp Chart SuperstarsCongratulations to the following students who have filled their stamp chart or accumulated dojo points by demonstrating and following our classroom rules.Kookaburra: Imogen, Ivy, Branwen Congratulations to all and keep up the fine efforts.

Appin Community CarolsOnce again, our school is proud to be performing at our local Appin Carols Evening this Saturday 7th December 2019. It works in very well with our Hoopla Concert this Friday because our students sing their Christmas song again on Saturday at this event. It would be fantastic to have as many students as possible singing in their stage groups and enjoying this festive atmosphere. This evening will conclude with fireworks at 9pm.When: Saturday 7th December 2019. Please meet Mrs Harrison at 6pm ready to perform at 6:20 – 6:40pm.Where: Appin oval across the road from our schoolWear: Christmas t-shirt, Santa hat or Christmas headgear* This is not a school event. Children must attend with an adult and be under the supervision of an adult.Updating School RecordsIt is very important that we have up to date and correct contact details for our students. If you have a new home address, mobile phone number or email address, please contact our school office to update these details as soon as possible. Presentation DayOur Presentation Day is being held on Monday, 16th December, 2019. This annual event celebrates and acknowledges theindividual effort and progress in learning of every student in every class. Parents are invited to their child’s classroom from9:05-9:25am for the presentation of Learning Certificates to each student. Premier’s Reading, Sporting Challenge andSwim Scheme Certificates will also be presented to students who completed these programs throughout the school year. Our formal Presentation Assembly will be held from 9:30am to approximately 11:00am, in our hall, to recogniseacademic achievement, as well as announcing 2020 School Leaders. From 2:00-3:00pm our Year 6 Graduation Assemblywill celebrate 7 years of primary schooling for our 33 Year 6 students. Each class will have awards to present to students at Presentation Assembly on a pro-rata basis. This means teachers will present one award per 5 students in their class. This gives students the flex-ibility to select an appropriate book at their leisure from a wider range of books than that available at a school book fair.

Christmas and Holiday Concert and Hoopla Day It’s this Friday! Free up your calendar and join us from midday for a day of fun and entertainment. Our celebrations com-mence with all of our students performing an item in our Christmas and Holiday Concert. This will be followed by a short recess, which will allow our Year 6 students some time to set up their stall or fun activities. This event is the major fundraiser for Year 6. Please support our school and get immersed in the holiday spirit. All plates need to be returned to school by this Thursday, 5th December. Thank you for your support.End-of-Year Talent QuestOn Tuesday, 17th December an end-of-year Talent Quest will be held at Appin Public School. Students who would like to participate need to organise their own item. The teachers will not be able to help with practises or preparation. If your son/daughter would like to perform, please help them to fill out an entry form. The forms are available from Miss Morgan and Ms Paxton and notes need to be returned by Thursday, 5th December. When: Tuesday, 17th DecemberWhere: Assembly HallTime Limit: Maximum 2 minutesAudience: Students & TeachersMusic: Song names to be given to Ms PaxtonCostumes: (Optional) - Organised by performers

PBL Wellbeing Tips -Using Bikes and Wheeled Toys SafelyA young child’s skull is soft and easily injured from a collision or fall. When you are selecting a bicycle or wheeled toy such as skateboards, rollerblades etc for your child make sure it is appropriate for their age and capability.Whenever children are riding wheeled toys or bicycles, it is important that they are wearing a correctly fitted helmet and one that meets the Australian Standard.Young children who wear helmets from the moment they start riding their first wheeled toy are more likely to continue wearing their helmet as they get older into their teen years.Tips to keep your child safe when using wheeled toys:• Always have an adult supervise• Ensure they wear appropriate clothing and safety gear• Make sure they are easily visible• Maintain and check their wheeled toys on a regular basis

REQUEST FOR ALL SCHOOL MAINTENANCE LOCAL TRADES PROVIDERS AND SUPPLIERSThe NSW Government has committed the largest investment in planned maintenance at public schools in the

history of NSW. A record $1.3 billion is being spent on an ambitious delivery program, focused on employing

local businesses and contractors across the state.

To assist in addressing regional school maintenance issues and at the same time provide work for local trade’s

persons and suppliers across the Greater Western Sydney region encompassing South Western and Western

Sydney, over $100 million is being invested to upgrade and maintain our school infrastructure.

Given this record spend by School Infrastructure NSW, you are invited to an Asset Management Unit industry

breakfast briefing. This will provide information to existing and new contractors on how you can get involved.
