Why are SAP Best Practices not enough?

documented

pre-configured

Tested

business processes that are

tailored to the customers industry a starting point for the customers implementation

SAP Best Practices are a set of configuration tools,

not an implementation methodology.

SAP Best Practices are great ingredients, but

without information on how to cook.

Why is ASAP not enough?

The traditional ASAP approach…

assumes that Blueprinting is a major activity (effort driver)

in projects

designs the complete solution specifically for ONE

customer

means we accommodate all customer requirements in

the first implementation step

ASAP is an implementation methodology, but

doesn’t fit a midsize enterprise requirements

or using SAP Best Practices as Built-in

Industry expertise.

ASAP is a cookbook without ingredients.

Why do we need a specific methodology?

Version 4.1 Accelerators – What’s New

Customer Qualification and high level Solution Definition have been shortened through the

introduction of new methods and powerful tools to make the process easier and results morereliable.

Delta Requirements: Capturing and documenting Delta Requirements has been enhanced

and simplified thru the usage of tools and guided processes.

Project Management: Risk Management activities and accelerators are now available,

Change Request management processes and templates have been streamlined and the

Project Charter set up has been revised.

Getting people ready through Organizational Change Management New tools and

activities to position it early in the sales cycle are now available to help the project team

provide end-users with not only the ability but also the desire to use and support the new

system. In addition, Impact Mapping activities and accelerators have been redesigned, based

on the predefined roles and authorizations, to facilitate the coordinated management ofchange for all the affected business areas.



Version 4.1 Accelerators – What’s New

Delta Configuration, Solution Validation and Integration and Acceptance tests have been

significantly shortened by leveraging Solution Manager, a powerful implementation tool. Inaddition to cost reduction, the new approach provides an integrated environment for fine

tuning, validating and testing the Solution thus leading to more reliable results.

Data Migration standard delivery methods and tools for SAP Business All-In-One Solutions

have been incorporated in ASAP Focus methodology. A new Data Migration workshop, to be

conducted in the very early stages of the project implementation, will help maximize

customer readiness in preparing master data and using the Data Migration programs

efficiently; this ensures a safe and a cost effective data migration.
