1. Introducing Points & Rewards The Points & Rewards extension offers reward system implemented as well as the referral program. Points can be

awarded automatically (and manually by the merchant) for making purchases, reviewing products, inviting friends

or carrying out any other admin-specified action. Later these points can be redeemed for discounts.

Apart from the above advantages, the Points & Rewards Magento extension offers a set of additional powerful

features:

  various reward options;

  rule creation abilities;

  referral system;

  advanced notifications; 

   balance & transactions control;

  ability to change points balance from the backend.

2. Points & Rewards Configuration The Points & Rewards extension can be easily configured in the way you need on the System → Configuration →

aheadWorks Extensions → Points & Rewards → General backend page (or Promotions → Points and

Rewards → Configuration).

Note: to give a customer an ability to earn and spend money while buying orders, configure earn and spend ratesat Promotion → Points and Rewards→ Poin ts Rates  (see page 10). 

General

1.  Select Yes, in the Enable field.

2.  Specify the point unit name, which will be displayed on the Customer Account page as well as in the

shopping cart.

3.  The Enable rewards history field allows customers to track the earned points on their Account page.

4.  Enable the Show points block at product page option to let visitors know how many points they can earn for

 buying a product. The information is displayed on every product page.

5.  In the Enable reward rules functionality field, define whether customers can gain points for their purchases

according to admin-specified rates if rule condition is matched and the rule is applied.

6.  Select the way of points calculation: before or after a tax. You can configure taxes on Sales → Tax → Manage

Tax Rules backend page.

7.  Specify whether customer’s earned points can be cancelled after order refunding. So if a customer gets points

for buying a product and then refunds the item –  earned points will be cancelled.

8.  Define whether to give points back to customer if they have been spent on the refunded product.

9.  Specify the minimum reward points balance available to redeem, or leave this field blank to avoid limitation.

10. Specify the maximum available points balance, or leave this field blank to avoid limitation.

11. Set up the reward points expiration day in the corresponding field, or leave it blank to disable the option.

12. In the “Amount available for paying at checkout by points, %” field, specify the percent of the product price

that customers can pay for a product with points.

Note: the percentage is counted from subtotal without a discount. Shipping and taxes are not included as well. 

13. If any reference page is selected in the Info Page field, customers will see the learn more link in their account.

Thus you can create a special page with additional information about points, some help or FAQ.

14. Define whether customers can use points together with Magento coupon.

 Earning Points

In the Earning Points tab, you can set up the amount of points earned by customer for different actions.

1.  In the Registration field, enter the number of points given for user registration.

2.  In the Newsletter signup field, specify the number of points given for signing up for a newsletter.

3.  Specify whether points will be earned if a customer is subscribed by admin in the Consider newsletter

subscription by admin field.

4.  In the Reviewing product field, specify the number of points given for posting a review.

5.  Define the maximum amount of points earned per day for reviewing products, or leave this field blank to avoidlimitation.

6.  In the For Video Testimonials field, specify the number of points given for video uploading.

7.  Specify the maximum amount of points earned per day for video uploading, or leave this field blank to avoid

limitation.

Note:  points for video uploading can be earned only if the Video Testimonials extension is set up.

8.  If you want to reward only those customers who made the purchase, select Yes in the Only those who

purchased product can gain points field.

9.  In the Tagging product field, enter the number of points given for tagging a product.

10. Specify the maximum amount of points earned per day for tagging a product, or leave this field blank to avoid

limitation.

11. In the Participating in poll field, define the number of points given for taking part in polls.

12.  Enter the maximum amount of points earned per day for participating in a poll, or leave this field blank to

avoid limitation.

13. In the Customer’s birthday field, define the amount of points given to customer for his/her birthday.

 Referral system

The Points & Rewards extension offers the built-in referral system with flexible settings, so that you can reward

your customers for inviting their friends as well as for their referral purchases.

1.  Select Yes, in the Enable referral system field.

2.  Specify the amount of points given for inviting a friend in the Points for inviting a friend field.

3.  In the Day limit for points for inviting a friend field, limit the number of days, within which the customer

can gain points for inviting a friend. You can leave this field blank to avoid limitation.

4.  Select whether the customer gets points for each referral’s order or for the first order only in the Points

awarded to customers for their referral’s purchases field.

5.  Specify the fixed amount of points given to customers for their referrals’ purchases.

6.  Specify the percentage from the purchase sum given to customers for their referrals’ orders.

 Notifications

The Points & Rewards extension allows customers to receive email notifications about balance update, points

expiration, and invitation.

1.  Select Yes in the Enable notifications field.

2.  In the Sender field, specify the name shown in the "From" field in the email sent to customers.

3.  Select Yes if you want an email to be automatically sent to the customer whose points expire in several days.

4.  Specify the number of days for a notification to be sent before points expire in the Email sending before

points expiring (in days) field.

5.  Click the Save Config button. 

Note: the Balance update  , Points expir e  , Customer B ir thday  , and I nvitation email  templates are  selected by

default.

If you want to set up all customers' points balance to 0, click the Reset all transactions button.

Note: this action is unrecoverable. All extension data will be lost!

3. Points Rates To give the customer an ability to earn and spend money while buying orders, you should configure earn and spend

rates at Promotions → Points and Rewards → Points Rates.

Earning PointsIf earning rates are set up, customers can gain points for their purchases according to admin-specified rates. After

an order has been completed, a certain amount of points is added to the customer's points balance.

1.  To create a new rate, go to Promotions → Points and Rewards → Points Rates → Earn Rate and click the

Add New button.

2.  On the Add Rate page, select websites and customer groups the rate will be applied to.

3.  Set up the exchange rate in the Rate line.

Note:  you can use decimal numerals (99.99) while setting up the exchange rate. Reward points, however, should be whole numbers only. 

4.  Click the Save Rule button.

Spending PointsCustomers can spend their reward points while paying for their orders.

1.  To create a new rate, go to Promotions → Points and Rewards → Points Rates → Spend Rate and click the

Add New button.

2.  On the Add Rate page, select websites and customer groups the rate will be applied to.

3.  Set up the exchange rate in the Rate line.

Note: use only whole numbers in the Reward Points  field. 

4.  Click the Save Rule button.

4. Points & Rewards Rules You can set up the Points & Rewards rules to award reward points to customers for purchasing a certain product or

 product quantity. The customer will gain points after the order has been completed.

Go to Promotions → Points and Rewards → Reward Rules to create a new rule and see the list of all the Points

& Rewards rules.

Note: the  Points & Rewards extension rules are not set up by default. 

Creating a New RuleFlexible Points & Rewards rules allow your customers to earn different number of points while buying products

from various categories, with certain SKU, price, or any other item attribute. 

1.  Go to the Promotions → Points and Rewards → Reward Rules page in the backend. 

2.  Click the Add New button to create a new rule.

3.  Enter the Rule Title (required) and its Description (optional).

4.  In the Websites field, select the websites where the rule will be applied to.

5.  In the Customer Groups field, define the customer group(s) this rule will be applied to.

6.  Set up the time period when the rule is active. If you leave the date range empty, the rule will be enabled as soon

as it is saved with the “Active” status. 

7.  In the Status field, select Active.

8.  If you have several rules, you are able to stop further rules processing.

9.  If you have multiple rules, set up the rule priority.

Conditions

The rule will be applied only if your conditions are met. You can create as many conditions as you like.

In this guide, we create one condition as an example: “ Items quantity equals or greater than 10”.

Define the number of points the customer earns when the rule is met.

 Related Blocks 

You can define the static block(s) displayed on the Cart page when the rule is met.

If all the conditions are met, your customers will see the CMS block you’ve specified. For example:

5. Reward Points Redeem Registered users can see the reward points balance information as well as the transactions history from their

Account Dashboard where additional Reward Points tab appears.

If the customer has points and its amount is more than minimum reward points balance available to redeem

(System → Configuration → Points & Rewards → Minimum reward points balance to be available to

redeem), an additional Use my Reward point(s) checkbox and input for points appear. The customer can spend

the whole amount of points available or part of them at the Checkout page in the Payment Information section.

Note: customers can use points to pay only for subtotal without discount. Shipping and taxes are not included!

6. Adding/Reducing Points by AdministratorThe Magento Points & Rewards module allows the administrator to manage the points balance of every customer

from the backend.

Massive Points Update

The administrator can select/unselect customers massively in the Transactions grid.

1.  Go to Promotions → Points and Rewards → Transactions. Here you can see the list of transactions for the

whole store.

2.  Click the Add New  button, to add a transaction to change customer’s balance.

3.  Select a customer(s).

Note:  you can change the points balance massively having filtered all your current customers by group,

country, website, MSS rule. Please note that MSS rule can be applied only if Market Segmentation Suite by

aheadWorks is set up.

4.  Insert the comment and specify the amount of points you want to add or subtract. Type in positive (10) ornegative number (-10) in the Points Balance Change field to enlarge or reduce customer’s points balance. 

5.  Save the transaction.

Individual Points Upgrade The Points & Rewards Magento module adds its own tab on the Customer Information page in the backend. Thus

you can either enlarge or reduce the points balance of every customer on individual basis.

1.  Go to Customers → Manage Customers to see the whole list of customers.

2.  Find the customer you want to add/subtract points and go to the Reward points tab on the Customer

Information page.

3.  The first section shows customer’s current balance. 

4.  The Reward Points History tab displays when, what for and how much points the customer gained.

5.  To update the customer’s points balance, enter positive or negative number in the Update Points field.

6.  You can leave a comment for the customer.

7.  You can manage the customer’s subscriptions for balance update emails and expiration notifications in the

Reward Points Notification section.

7. Points & Rewards CouponsThe Points & Rewards extension allows you to create special coupons with additional amount of points. Tell, send

or place this coupon code on the website, so that customers can get extra points just after entering the coupon code

on the Reward Points page.

To create a new coupon, go to the Promotions → Points and Rewards → Coupons backend page and click the

Add New Coupon button.

1.  In the Coupon Name field, specify the name of the coupon.

2.  Specify the description of the coupon.

3.  Enter the coupon code.

4.  Choose websites where the coupon will be active.

5.  In the Customer Groups field, choose the groups of customers who can use the coupon.

6.  Specify the period of time when the coupon will be available.

7.  Set the Status field to Active.

8.  In the Points Amount field, specify the amount of points which will be added to customer’s balance after

coupon applying.

9.  In the Uses per Coupon field, specify how many times the coupon can be used.

10. Click the Save button.

To view all coupons, go to the Promotions → Points and Rewards → Coupons backend  page.

To delete the coupon, select Delete in the Action field of the required coupon (or tick off the required coupons,select Delete in the Actions field and click the Submit button).

Click the required coupon to view it. Here you can change all the information about the coupon (except the quantity

of the coupon usage in the Activation Count field).

In the Transactions section, you can find the information about customers who have used the coupon.

8. Facebook Link IntegrationPoints & Rewards is integrated with the Facebook Link  extension v.2.1.4. If Facebook Link is installed, you can

reward your customers for clicking the Like button.

Go to the System → Configuration → aheadWorks extensions → Points & Rewards backend page. In the

Earning Points tab, some fields are added.

1.  Define the quantity of points that will be added to customer’s points balance after clicking the Like button.

2.  Specify the delay between Facebook “Likes” in seconds.

3.  Define the maximum amount of points that can be earned during the certain time period.

4.  In the Facebook Like time limit, seconds field, specify during which time interval points can be given to

customers.

If the quantity of points given for clicking the Like button is set up, the information about the amount of points per

one click is displayed on the frontend:

Customers can “Like” the product and points will be added to their points balance automatically.


Recommended
