Significance of Baptism “And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him.” ~Matthew 3:26

“ The moment when Jesus is baptized is one of the only times in the Bible that the entire Trinity appears together. Consider the passage: the Son stands in the river, the Spirit descends like a dove, and the Father speaks from heaven. This Epiphany moment reveals yet another aspect of Jesus’ identity: his place as the second person of the Trinity.” ~Fr. Matthew Kozlowski~ buildfaith.org

Special thanks to Juleen Scegura, a parishioner at Immaculate Conception, for sharing her reflection with us in today’s Evangeli-zation Corner!

Advent was a time of preparation for Christmas. Now we are in the Christmas season; a time to rejoice in the coming of our Sav-ior. Jesus did not come to one person for one day or one year, He came for each of us for our entire lifetime. Jesus said to His apostles “I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20.

So, what happens after the Christmas season is over? Already our retail stores have been downsizing the Christmas selections and putting Valentine’s day candy and cards out for purchase. Do our hearts also put aside Christ that quickly and look to the next holiday? Are you beginning to feel “let-down” after the Christ-mas high because there is nothing to look forward to?

Jesus our Savior, born in Bethlehem is not to be forgotten or brushed aside. The time from now until Ash Wednesday is a time to contemplate the infant Jesus and His mother Mary. A time to wonder how Jesus and Mary could help us in our daily lives. A time to think about how our lives could be changed and fulfilled beyond measure if we would but only open our hearts to the love of Jesus and Mary.

Mary said “YES” to the Angel when asked if she would be the Mother of our Savior. She adored her son even before He was born, the shepherds adored her son and the three wise men adored her son. Let each of us say “YES” to Christ and adore Mary’s son. Let us consider the meaning of His presence in the manager and participate fully in the Holy Eucharist at every Mass.

Don’t feel “let-down” during this quiet, ordinary time. Rather, use this time to develop a deeper love of Jesus by contemplating Our Lord, His Mother and their work in our lives.

In this GIFT night, we will teach you how to recognize God’s voice in prayer. Discernment of hearing God’s voice is needed at any age. Everyone plan to attend GIFT Night: January 15th at 7:00 p.m. at All Saints-St. Hedwig’s

Thank you to everyone who helped this year for Christmas: Christmas choirs, decorators, liturgical ministers, sacristans for all the extra Christmas volunteering. Special thank you to all those who kept up their

trees and nativity scenes in and outside for the entire Christmas season. This is a way for all of us to evangelize the secular cul-ture which treats Christmas as an event rather than at Season!
