Review:Nutrition – process in which we take in and use food.

Nutrient – Components of food that supplies us with energy, serve as building material, help maintain or repair body parts and support growth.

Basic Nutrients: 1) Proteins, 2) Carbohydrates, 3) Fats,

4) Vitamins, 5) Minerals, and 6) Water

Calorie - A unit used to measure the energy used by the body, and the energy that food supplies the body.

Hunger vs AppetiteHunger is a feeling of physical discomfort that

is caused by the body’s need for nutrients.

Appetite is a desire for food that is based on emotions and other factors rather than nutritional need.

Unlike hunger, which is an inborn response, appetite is learned. (example: popcorn at the movies)

ConclusionSince 1980 obesity rates among adolescents has almost tripled.

Fast food is part of everyday life. We live in a fast paced society.

Its our choice on how to make healthy food choices while we eat out.
