    THE BAPTISM

    OF THE LORD

January 10, 2021 It happened in those days that

    Jesus came from Nazareth of

Galilee and was baptized in the

Jordan by John. On coming up

out of the water he saw the

heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending

upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, “You are my

beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” - Mk 1:9-11

Today’s Feast of the Baptism of the Lord

brings the Advent-Christmas season to a

    close. The word “epiphany” means

    revelation or manifestation. The Baptism

is another epiphany feast because Jesus is

revealed at the Son of the Father when

the voice from the heavens declares: “You are my

beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” Jesus is filled

with the Holy Spirit who descends on him like a dove.

The Church celebrates Jesus’ changing water into wine

at the wedding feast in John 2: 1-12 as another epiphany

moment. The gospel says: “Jesus did this as the

beginning of his signs … and so revealed his glory, and

his disciples began to believe in him.” During this New

Year 2021 may we be open to the Gospel and to the

other ways that Jesus reveals himself to us, so that we

may believe in him and follow him as his disciples.

Thank you to all those who

    participated in the Christmas Wreath

program. Families who want to take

the wreath with their name may do so over the next week.

January 17th will be the last date to take the wreaths from

the fence around the church. Many thanks to all for your

generosity that beautified our parish this Christmas season!

Pope Francis’ Prayer Intention for January 2021: At the

Service of Human Fraternity: "When we pray to God

following Jesus, we come together as brothers and

sisters with those who pray according to other cultures,

other traditions and other beliefs. We are brothers and

sisters who pray. Fraternity leads us to open ourselves to

the Father of all and to see in the other a brother or

sister, to share our lives or to support, to love, and to

    know each other.” https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/

The OLPH 2021 Calendar is now available

as you leave church after Mass and in the

    parish office.

The OLPH book for 2021 is I Heard God Laugh – a

practical guide to life’s essential daily habit by Matthew

Kelly. Half memoir, half how-to-do – this book will help

us grow in our personal relationship with God. Reading

alone or as a family will enrich our prayer as we journey

through this New Year 2021. Happy reading!

A Message from St. Andrew the Apostle Care for

Creation Ministry: Winter has a special beauty. Find

time this week to take a walk. Birds and squirrels are

still quite active; trees and shrubs are dormant but

carefully guarding the life within; seeds and bulbs are

biding their time. Let us enjoy God's creation in all its

    glory.

    arbustos duermen mientras cuidan la vida que llevan dentro;
