Congrats! Congratulations to all of the orchestra
students who participated in State
Orchestra Contest! The students
represented our school, community and
music program in a professional
manner. They also did an outstanding
job performing and received straight
superior ratings. We are extremely
proud of our orchestra students!
Congratulations to the students in our
band’s Wind Ensemble students for
their performances at the OMEA (Ohio
Music Education Association) Band
Contest, hosted by our band on March
9. The ensemble played two Class AA
pieces, one prepared and one sight-
reading piece. The judges gave the
Wind Ensemble a score of two for the
prepared piece and a one for the piece
they sight-read. Most high school bands
do not attempt Class AA pieces, but
ours did and they played very well.
Thank you to the chaperones who went
along to Columbus for the state
orchestra contest. Appreciation also to
the students and parents who
volunteered for the OMEA Contest at
BHS. The directors and students know
that much of the success of our
orchestra and band programs is due to
the fact that we are blessed with
families who believe in the instrumental
music programs of the Boardman
Schools and they volunteer when
needed. Thank you!
Virginia Beach Trips Details Since band and orchestra will be participating in different events while in Virginia Beach, the trips are essentially separate.
Although some students who are in both band and orchestra will be participating with both organization’s events while in
Virginia, students will be traveling with the band OR orchestra — the buses will not be combined.
ORCHESTRA DETAILS: Departure from BHS will be on Wednesday, April 25 at 8:00 AM. Return to BHS is estimated to be
11:00 PM on Saturday, April 28. All payments are due at this time. Please have your child check their balance on the
account sheet or you can email Mrs. Prokop at [email protected].
BAND DETAILS: Departure from BHS is just before midnight on Wednesday, April 25. The band's final activity on Saturday is
the Virginia International Tattoo in the evening. Band will be either still in Virginia on Sunday to enjoy a little more time on
the beach, or if the weather is bad, the band will start traveling Sunday morning and may stop in Washington D.C. to visit
the Smithsonian Museums. We should return to BHS around 10:30 PM on Sunday night, April 29. Band payment deadline
is March 23 and is $650 for every student going on the trip. All other account debts must also be settled. Email Mr.
Ruggieri at [email protected] if you need to know your child’s balance. Now that the winter concert, the
OMEA Contest and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade are over, the trip schedule/itinerary will be available very soon.
