The meeting agreed that $282 was reasonable to spend on the new website provider for the next 3 years and Sandy will go ahead and organise it. Also we’ve been approached by Rylands Kew to find a group of 15 people to whom they could advertise their retirement homes, in exchange of morning tea and a $500 payment to our club. Bea will be taking names. Date TBA.

Other News We had a lovely letter from Helen Henry telling us that she has come through the chemo and
the operation and is staying with her daughter Kate. A granny flat has been put on the block and
she is well supported by family and friends. She is sending a special Hallo to the music group and
is still enjoying the white handmade flowers that our group sent her. She sends her best wishes
to all.
Guest Speaker – September meeting
Mr. Cliff Hardy was born in London. He spoke to us of his life in the Kent police force after a career in the Merchant Navy. His career change was made because he spent 10 months out of twelve at sea which was not conducive to family life. His training as a policeman started in 1962 and his 26 years in the force, from being on the beat with his truncheon, handcuffs, notepad, pen and whistle and patrolling from phone box to phone box, to becoming a desk Sargent, was filled with amusing and frightening incidents. He has a fine voice and his ‘Hallo, Hallo, Hallo’ would be enough to make any miscreant
quake!

Outreach Program September’s donation amounted to $76 due to two generous $20 donations.

A beautifully written book about a missionary family now living in England. The climate
referred to is also the climate in the family –(although one of the members would have
liked to collect fossils). The family has spent time in Africa and there are secrets that

This month’s recipe
Fruit Loaf
Ingredients 1 kg dried fruit 2 cups SR flour 600 ml carton coffee milk
Methods Mix fruit and coffee flavoured milk and leave overnight NOT IN FRIDGE . Next day mix in 2 cups of SR flour. Put in a tin and cook in moderate oven 40 min or till done. Lasts well wrapped in gladwrap in fridge.
