WAPITI WIND February, 2015
EXALTED RULER’S MESSAGE: After the cold spell the whole country
seemed to suffer in the early and mid part
of January, I am sure the visitors from
around the country are delighted to be
away from it. There is nothing which gives
us more pleasure than to provide you with a warm place
away from home in which to relax, and to have good
food and fellowship, as Elks are expected to provide.
This lodge is especially noted for our Monday Night
“Italian night” (either spaghetti or lasagna depending on
our calendar) and Tuesday night “Hamburger night” of
which both are prepared by volunteers. Wednesday
nights feature our famous ribs by our professional staff,
who indeed have put us on the map for many years as
the best ribs in town. As Elks we are proud to serve our
guests, and we always have time to welcome you to our
lodge, local member or not. Please talk to anyone who
bears a nametag, for information on anything you wish
to know about Lake Havasu City. With over 3,000
members it is difficult to get around to everyone, so
please get our attention so we may give you ours.
The first day of February is Super Bowl Sunday, and
includes a Pizza bake by our PER’s (Past Exalted Rul-
ers Association) and raffle for prizes of consequence.
See info further on in this Wapiti Wind issue.
The following Saturday, the 7th is the Dinner and
recognition for Old Timers, where we present them a
pin which depicts and honors the number of years he/
she has been a member. The number of years is normal-
ly in 5 year increments. Please attend and help us con-
gratulate them. PER Ace Johnson will MC this event.
Check the calendar “insert” for times of events this
month, of which there are many. Valentines’ Day Din-
ner, Jack ‘n’ Jill Bowling, and our Blood Drive are all
coming up this month.
Finally, I wish to thank all members for their help in
maintaining our high status as an Elks Lodge in the
United States of America. Our PER’s, Elkettes, and
Chairmen of all facets of Elkdom should well be proud
of their diligence in the continuation of the great work
we do in the name of youth and our community. This
ER is proud to be a part of it.

Doris was the last lucky person to locate
the queen. The game is fun to play and
the rewards are great for the lucky per-
son locating the Queen of Hearts.
Moving Forward Board Needs Help. The Moving Forward Board, started to play off the lot, has many vacant spots. You
can help by buying a spot and have you or a loved one’s name recorded for posterity while helping to pay off the lot. Fifty ($50) will buy you a spot on this prestigious board.
The Queen of Hearts jackpot is growing rapid-
ly and you too can be a lucky winner by joining
us every Monday for “Italian Night” and enjoying
either spaghetti or lasagna, depending on the cal-
endar, and drawing for the Queen. The jackpot at
this printing was nearing $4,000.00.
The proceeds from this event are earmarked
for Lodge charities and Lodge support.
Following the drawing you can join the Coun-
try Dancers with their dancing and never ending
surprise fun.

Election of Lodge Officers.
The First meeting in Febru-ary (February 3, 2015) is set
aside to nominate officers for the ensuing Lodge year. If you are interested in be-coming a Lodge Officer you must be nominated during
this meeting. Election of Lodge Officers will then be held during the second meet-
ing of the month ( February 17, 2015). If there are more than one nominee for an of-fice a secret ballot will be held.
There will be no nomina-tions accepted during the election night meeting un-
less there were no nomina-tions for an office during the first meeting in February. Now is the time to exercise your fraternal right to help
direct the affairs of the Lodge. Consider becoming an officer. Aside from the
chair officers the following offices are open: Secretary, Treasurer, and Five Year Trustee. Grand Lodge Statutes 3.080 & 3.090.

Elkette Message:
January presented itself as ex-pected; our Rummage Sale was a huge success, thanks to our two chairmen, Donna Goodine and Lillian Graham and all the volun-teers who worked on this two day event. The amount of time put into the rummage sale sometimes seems fruitless; however, for all who put in the hours of work let me tell you this year presented itself with a larger profit then last year. Even when our foot traffic seemed light, due to the rain, it
didn’t dampen our spirits. The Elkettes will be donating at least $600.00 to Sally’s Place this year, almost two hun-dred more than last year. Great Job Everyone. Our Valentine Party will be February 14th, tickets are $15.00 each in the lodge office, until Wed. February 11th. Be sure to get your tickets before the dead-line. Menu will be Chicken Piccata, potato, veggie and dessert. We are plan-ning a “50’s Sock Hop” dress in the 50’s style, which the guys will love, girls take yourself back in time and enjoy the styles we had back then (or Not)….we want to take you down memory lane for the evening with your Sweet Heart. You know we always have a good time.
During our February 10th Elkette meeting, we’ll be voting for our 2015-16 Elkette Board. Please make sure you’re on hand to cast your vote. It is important to our Membership that we participate in our organization. If you think you might be interested in a position on the board please don’t hesitate to talk with me or one of our officers. We will be sure to give you as much information as we can so you can make a sound decision for yourself and become a nominee for office. March is just around the corner. We have a lot on our schedule. The Crazy Auction will take place on March 7th.
For all our new Elkettes you won’t want to miss out on this FUN AND CRAZY Fund Raiser. Keep your eyes and ears
open for all the details for the Crazy Auction. Also, we will
install our New Elkette Board for the 2015-16 year at our March meeting. I want to express my appreciation to all our Elkettes. It was so exciting to see so many of you get involved with our Rummage Sale, and also with the Jewelry Sales helping Mary Roberts with the organizing and selling. I’m proud to see so many New Elkettes taking an interest in our Auxilia-ry.
Thank you Kay Wdowiak, Elkette Presi-dent
The Elkettes stage another successful event. The lodge room was filled with rummage sale items and the buyers came out in force to walk away with these treasures. Elks National Foundation (ENF) A notice to all Elk Members. By now you will have received your dues renewal statement. When sending in your dues remittance please think seri-
ously about adding $10.00 or more for the ENF. By doing this you help give to a number of charities that the ENF supports, locally, statewide and nationally. Remember the ENF is administered by the Elks Organization and consequently does not have the enormous overhead associated with other well known charities. The Foundation gives out more in scholarship funds each year than any organization, with the exception of the Federal Government, and supports many veterans , youth programs and in addition, the State’s Major Project, The Children’s Research Center in Tucson and
the Arizona Elks Youth Camp. Locally we have had several $1,000.00 grants. Additionally, your donation helps the Lodge attain the coveted All-American status that we have enjoyed for 8 years. Our thanks to the following for their recent contributions: Robert Watts $800.00, Melvin McKerlie $500.00 and Floyd Davis $140.00. Also, our congratulations to Jerry Kozachenko who recently received
his certificate for reaching the $1,000.00 level.
