New products specifically designed for the North American market

In 2002, Jungheinrich manufactured trucks covered 50% of the electric warehouse needs in the North American market.

A decision was made to invest $60 million in developing 3 key products for the North American market to fill the requirement gap.

These products could not be sold in Europe and were a significant indication of Jungheinrich’s commitment to ensuring that it could meet the needs of the North American market.

IP Rating Chart

IP Second number - Protection against liquids 0

No protection. 1

Protection against vertically falling drops of water e.g. condensation.

2 Protection against direct sprays of water up to 15o

from the vertical. 3

Protected against direct sprays of water up to 60o from the vertical.

4 Protection against water sprayed from

all directions o limited ingress permitted.

5 Protected against low pressure jets of water from

all directions o limited ingress. 6

Protected against low pressure jets of water, e.g. for use on ship decks - limited ingress permitted.

7 Protected against the effect of immersion between

15cm and 1m. 8

Protects against long periods of immersion under pressure.

IP First number - Protection against solid objects

0 No special protection

1 Protected against solid objects up to 50mm, e.g.

accidental touch by hands.

2 Protected against solid objects up to 12mm, e.g.

fingers.

3 Protected against solid objects over 2.5mm (tools

and wires).

4 Protected against solid objects over 1mm (tools,

wire, and small wires).

5 Protected against dust limited ingress

(no harmful deposit). 6

Totally protected against dust.

Page 13: Brightstar Presentation Oct 08

IP Rating Advantages

IP – stands for ingress protection Equipment resistance to elements, water, dirt, dust Numerical scale used – each number defines level

IP54 Rating 5 Equals protection against dust 4 Equals protection from water sprayed from all

direction 54 is the standard rating used for all JH trucks

EX – Explosion Rating is closest domestically offered

Very Costly Option $$$$$

Page 14: Brightstar Presentation Oct 08

Why 48V and Not 36V Like Competition?

48V requires less power to perform same tasks as 36V Less overall Amps used to lift lower and transport Less amps = less heat = cooler running systems Higher travel speeds, higher lift & lower speeds Up to 25% longer

48V provides ample power delivery to further eliminate need for hydraulic functions

EFG series 3 wheel – AC power steering for precise control No hydraulic PS systems & no hoses to break Further reduces excess heat buildup and repair issues

Page 15: Brightstar Presentation Oct 08

IP 54 Biggest Benefit

JH has the longest service interval in industry

1000 hour PM interval standard Sealed systems more resistant to wear and

breakdown from corrosive elements & require less attention

New Pricing Matrix is Reduced for Brightstar $15,061.68 Yearly Savings $75,308.40 over 5 years

Includes Double Deep Reach & Camera Sys.

Page 16: Brightstar Presentation Oct 08

Competitor AC Systems 1st generation AC Power

Do not have full AC standard – offer combination of DC and AC systems currently = less efficient use of power, higher maintenance costs with DC motors with wearable parts & generic mass produced parts

High temperature operation – large cooling fans required to keep AC motor cool is constantly running making less efficiency and more frequent battery charging

Dual voltage units – cannot provide maximum power delivery for either voltage used, 36V used 22% more energy & 48V used 30% more energy on standard cycle test

More maintenance – 250 hours per planned maintenance visit standard Unsealed systems – motors and controls are unsealed and susceptible to

warehouse and outdoor elements Reliance on hydraulics: More moving parts more wearable items to replace
