From the Chair of Limmud

Dear Hackney Limmudniks,

Limmud is proud and delighted that the HackneyJewish community under the leadership of theSteering Group – Mark Garfield, Stephen Brown, Gail Chester, David King and Suzanne Cohen – andtheir dedicated team, have organised the first everHackney Day Limmud.

As I am sure you will agree, the team has organised atruly world class programme – ensuring that they havecaptured the essence of their local Jewish communityand its talent. I am confident that this event will be asource of inspiration for other Limmud events aroundthe UK, and indeed the world.

Over the coming years, Limmud very much looksforward to watching the Hackney Limmud grow, develop and flourish. You have created an event thatthe entire Hackney community can be proud of!

As with all Limmud events, this Day Limmud has been entirely organised by a team of dedicated, hardworking volunteers. Their work over the last yearplanning this event has gone on largely behind thescenes, unnoted and unthanked – so on behalf of theLimmud Executive, I want to publicly and sincerelythank each and everyone of you for making this dayhappen. I would also like to thank the central Limmud teams who have supported this event – Anna Mileberg, Clive Lawton, Raymond Simonson, Jason Caplin and our National Regional LimmudCoordinator, David Israel. Your energies are certainly appreciated.

If you enjoyed this Limmud programme, then pleasedo consider attending other Limmud events. Comingup is our flagship festival of Jewish learning – LimmudConference. There you will discover seven days of non-stop, cutting-edge learning of every form – be thatthrough text study, performance, song, dance, paneldebates, interactive workshops or interviews. Withover 2,000 participants, 900 sessions from 350 of the world’s best educators, you certainly won’t bedisappointed. We would be delighted to seeparticipants from across Hackney and the surroundingboroughs join us for this world-leading Jewish event.

May Hackney Limmud continue to grow from strengthto strength!
