Dear Resident

CITYLINK TULLA WIDENING: MAJOR CONSTRUCTION WORKS - 12 APRIL TO NOVEMBER 2016

We are writing to inform you about major construction works that will take place over the coming months as part of the CityLink Tulla Widening project.

As you may be aware, work on the CityLink Tulla Widening project is underway and involves adding lanes and other measures to improve the flow of traffic across the 24 kilometre section of freeway from the CityLink tunnels to Melbourne Airport. The project will provide travel time savings per trip between Melbourne Airport and the West Gate Freeway during peak periods.

Generally, an additional lane is being added in each direction, as well as upgrades at key interchanges including Bell Street, Mount Alexander Road / Flemington Road and on the Bolte Bridge to West Gate Freeway entry ramp. Once completed, the project will deliver a safer, more reliable freeway.

CPB Contractors (formally Leighton Contractors) is the construction contractor for the Bulla Road to Power Street section of the project. This notification provides a general overview of upcoming works in your area. We will continue to provide regular updates on specific major works as the project progresses.

When works will occur Major works will occur during day time work hours for construction which are 7am to 6pm 2016 from April to November 2016.

What we are doing Over the coming months major construction works will take place in the area of Greenbank Crescent, Pascoe Vale Road, Bulla Road and along the freeway. This will include excavation works to begin construction of the Bell Street bridge and additional lanes on CityLink, as outlined below.

Major construction works for the new Bell Street bridge next to the Pascoe Vale Road exit ramp and Greenbank Crescent

Construction works to widen the CityLink bridge over Pascoe Vale Road Construction works to widen the Moonee Ponds Creek bridge north of Wallace Crescent and the Wheeler

Street underpass Night works on CityLink and next to the freeway corridor to build additional lanes, including road line marking

works Relocation of concrete safety barriers on CityLink Ongoing changes to traffic conditions on CityLink and local roads, which will be advertised in advance on the

project website and via on-road signage Some partial lane closures on local roads to create safe work areas Temporary diversions for the Brentwood Avenue overpass, Wheeler Street underpass, the Moonee Ponds

Creek trail and some local footpaths, which will be advertised in advance on the project website and via on-road signage

Relocation of utility services in some areas Trimming and/or removal of vegetation and trees

What you can expect to see and hear Construction workers and vehicles near our site compounds and work areas

Some construction vehicles using local roads to access our work sites if they are unsafe to access via CityLink Noise from heavy equipment during construction activities Use of cranes and large trucks for works Vibration may be felt during various works

Noise during construction Your safety and wellbeing is at the forefront of our mind while we carry out works within your community. To reduce noise impacts as much as possible during construction, CPB Contractors will: Schedule noisy activities within normal working hours wherever possible (7 am to 6 pm Monday to Saturday). Communicate regularly with residents to provide early warning of any potentially disruptive works Select the quietest machinery and construction method Carry out regular checks and noise monitoring on equipment to ensure it is running efficiently and ensure

machines are not left running idle. Use broadband reversing alarms on mobile machinery and equipment where possible. These alarms are

much quieter than the standard reversing beepers used on most construction sites. Where practical arrange loading activities to avoid reversing, reducing the use of reversing beepers. Locate site buildings, access roads and machinery with the aim of minimising disturbance to our neighbours.

We will continue to provide residents with advanced notification about major works and traffic impacts as these works progress.

We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. We are committed to keeping residents informed and minimising the impacts during construction, while keeping the community and our workers safe at all times. Managing and protecting the environment is also important to us and we are working with local and state government adhering to environmental laws to ensure the impact to the natural ecosystem is minimised.
