Grade 3 trip to Pioneer
Village
Students share their experience
I think Pioneer Village is a great place for a field trip! There is a blacksmith shop that is really fun and cool. At first house we learned how to tease wool. At the schoolhouse we got to learn how pioneers learned. Pioneer Village is an awesome field trip! Evan M.
Going to Pioneer Village is like going back in time. You get to dress like pioneers and act like them. Some people thought we worked at Pioneer Village! On the bus I acted like I was going through time portals and the last one was Pioneer Village. Pioneer Village is the best place to be. Morgan D.
Pioneer Village is the best field trip ever! We got to dress up like pioneers and learned about how pioneers lived. We also got to eat lunch like a pioneer and we got to learn in the school. People would watch from the back of the room sometimes. We also got to do a spelling bee. Pioneer Village is awesome! Hilary A.
Learning in the schoolhouse is cool! You get to use slates. You get to sing: God Save the Queen and practice: The Lord’s Prayer. You get to participate in a spelling bee. It is helpful because you learn how to spell new words. Learning in the schoolhouse rocks! Dylan S.

Working Together to Ensure
Student Success!
In order to ensure the best possible education for your child,
it is necessary for them to attend school regularly. A
student’s academic progress depends on regular class
attendance. Research also indicates that attendance patterns
and attitudes are developed at an early age. Students are
expected to fully participate in learning opportunities and
complete all homework assignments and tests when they are
absent.
We would like to encourage families to plan extended
vacations when school is not in session. Extended absences
can result in gaps in student learning. Students in Grades 3
and 6 may have particular difficulty during the provincial
assessments (EQAO) when they have been absent during
the school year and have missed a large portion of the
curriculum taught. Regular student attendance and
punctuality is important in order for students to be
successful at school.
You can help ensure your child’s success by:
• being involved in your child’s education;
• knowing the school’s schedule;
• communicating regularly with classroom teachers (use
your child’s planner to send notes to the teacher);
• calling the school if your child is going to be absent;
• writing a note if your child is late due to an appointment;
• ensuring that your child gets a good night’s sleep so that
they have the energy they need for the next day.
Let’s work together to ensure student success!
Lost and Found items
We continue to accumulate many lost and found items. If your child is missing clothing, please come in the school and check the coat hooks outside the gymnasium, where most clothing is hanging. There is also a lost and found table outside of the office.
