Dear Parents/Guardians/Pupils,

As today our children find themselves at crossroads, expected to make some crucial decisions such

as which elective subjects to choose at school or which university course to apply to, in which

country and which career to aspire to have, we have put together the Careers Fair 2013 on Saturday

16th of November in order to help our pupils to make informed decisions. The fair is also meant to

help the parents/guardians in supporting their children adequately in practical as well as in

emotional terms at this point in their life.

The aim of the Careers Fair 2013 is to enable our pupils and their parents/guardians to hear from

accomplished professionals in their field what it took to get them to the point where they are today

in their careers. Our pupils will have the opportunity to hear how and which specific various school

subjects can be helpful in preparation for their future study. Moreover, they will hear of each

speaker’s first-hand experience of specific university courses at specific universities in specific

countries as well as of an individual career possible relevant professional development. Some of the

speakers may be willing to facilitate valuable pupil work experience which would give our pupils a

taste of their future career.

We sincerely hope that the information given on the day by the Careers Fair speakers and the

opportunity given to you to ask them questions will ease your anxiety regarding your pending and at

times troubling decisions and will help you to resolve some of the uncertainties you may have.

The fair starts at 9:15 with the opening address by Mr Andreas Christou, Senior Labour Officer, on

behalf of the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Mrs Zeta Emilianidou. The speech on the

employment opportunities in Cyprus by Mr Yiannis Mourouzides, Research and Planning Deputy

Manager of the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus will follow right away at 9:25. It

is strongly recommended that you hear out both speakers given the importance and relevance of

their speeches.

Please do look at the Careers Fair 2013 Programme Booklet in detail and do plan to attend as many

sessions as you can in order to get the maximum of information as sometimes it is by method of

elimination that we are guided to the correct answer so even if there is a pupil’s slightest interest in

or inclination for one of the careers, every effort should be made to hear out the relevant speaker.

Most local higher education institutions will have their stations at the fair. The school restaurant will

be open throughout the day.

It is essential for Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 pupils/parents/guardians to attend the fair and it is strongly

recommended that Years 1 and 2 pupils/parents/guardians also attend in order to become aware of

various career pathways. The attendance is open to friends and family of PASCAL schools pupils.

Η επιλογι μακθμάτων, ςπουδϊν, χϊρασ ςπουδϊν και κατ’ επζκταςθ επαγγζλματοσ, αποτελεί πάντοτε εςτία άγχουσ, προβλθματιςμοφ και αμφιβολιϊν, τόςο για τουσ μακθτζσ όςο και για τουσ γονείσ τουσ, κακϊσ οι επιλογζσ αυτζσ κα κακορίςουν εν πολλοίσ τθ μελλοντικι επαγγελματικι τουσ ςταδιοδρομία.

Ζχοντασ ωσ γνϊμονα τθν όςο το δυνατό πλθρζςτερθ πλθροφόρθςθ των παιδιϊν μασ, που βρίςκονται ςτο κακοριςτικό ςθμείο των επιλογϊν τουσ, διοργανϊνουμε τθν Ζκκεςθ Σταδιοδρομίασ 2013, ςτισ 16 Νοεμβρίου, ςτισ εγκαταςτάςεισ των ςχολϊν μασ, ςτθν οποία κα ςυμμετάςχουν καταξιωμζνοι επαγγελματίεσ από ζνα ευρφτατο φάςμα επιςτθμϊν, αλλά και ανϊτερα και ανϊτατα εκπαιδευτικά ιδρφματα τθσ χϊρασ μασ. Στόχοσ μασ να παράςχουμε τθ δυνατότθτα ςε μακθτζσ και γονείσ να ακοφςουν από ειδιμονεσ διαφόρων ειδικοτιτων τθν προςωπικι τουσ ακαδθμαϊκι και επαγγελματικι διαδρομι, τισ ςυγκεκριμζνεσ ςπουδζσ που θ διαδρομι αυτι προχποκζτει, κακϊσ και τθν επαγγελματικι πορεία που τα προςόντα του κακενόσ από τουσ ομιλθτζσ κα μποροφςαν δυνθτικά να του προςφζρουν.

Η δομι τθσ θμερίδασ αναγράφεται ςτο πρόγραμμα, το οποίο ςασ καλοφμε να μελετιςετε προςεκτικά∙ ςασ παραινοφμε επίςθσ να παρακολουκιςετε όςουσ περιςςότερουσ ομιλθτζσ μπορείτε, επιλζγοντασ από τα επαγγζλματα που ςασ ενδιαφζρουν ι δεν απορρίπτετε, αλλά και να υποβάλετε ερωτιματα που ςασ απαςχολοφν χωρίσ διςταγμό, ϊςτε να ξεκακαρίςετε εντυπϊςεισ ι αντιλιψεισ που είχατε ςχετικά με το ςυγκεκριμζνο επάγγελμα. Επιπλζον, μπορείτε να επιςκεφτείτε τουσ χϊρουσ που ζχουν παραχωρθκεί ςε δθμόςια και ιδιωτικά ανϊτερα και ανϊτατα εκπαιδευτικά ιδρφματα και να ενθμερωκείτε για τισ ειδικότθτεσ που το κακζνα προςφζρει, τισ προχποκζςεισ ειςδοχισ και τισ προοπτικζσ περαιτζρω ςπουδϊν.

Θεωροφμε ιδιαίτερα χριςιμθ και ουςιαςτικι τθν παρουςία των γονζων και μακθτϊν των τάξεων του λυκειακοφ κφκλου∙ παρ’ όλα αυτά, θ ςυμμετοχι μακθτϊν και γονζων των τάξεων του γυμναςιακοφ κφκλου ςυςτινεται ανεπιφφλακτα, κακϊσ κρίνουμε ωφζλιμθ τθν επαφι κι αυτισ τθσ θλικιακισ ομάδασ με τισ μελλοντικζσ πικανζσ επιλογζσ και ενδεχόμενα ςπουδϊν. Η εκδιλωςθ είναι επίςθσ ανοιχτι ςε όλουσ τουσ φίλουσ και τισ οικογζνειεσ των μακθτϊν των ςχολϊν ΠΑΣΚΑΛ.

Προςδοκοφμε ςτθν ανταπόκριςι ςασ ςτο ςθμαντικό κζμα τθσ περαιτζρω ακαδθμαϊκισ πορείασ των παιδιϊν ςασ. Αν ςτο μεταξφ διάςτθμα χρειάηεςτε περιςςότερεσ πλθροφορίεσ, είμαι ςτθ διάκεςι ςασ.
