BUILDING PORTFOLIOS ISN’T THE MOST

IMPORTANT THING WE DO.BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS IS.

Planning and investing for your future, your family or your business

doesn’t have to be complicated. Especially when you have someone

you trust, who has taken the time to get to know you and your

specific situation, helping guide you along the way. We start by

listening to your needs, then delivering the quality, sophisticated

advice you expect and deserve. Ensuring that we deliver not

just any plan, but the right plan for you. LIFE WELL PLANNED.

His books include But the Giraffe: A Curtain Raising and Brundibar: the Libretto, with illustrations by Maurice Sendak; The Art of Maurice Sendak: 1980 to the Present; and Wrestling with Zion: Progressive Jewish-American Responses to the Palestinian/Israeli Conflict, co-edited with Alisa Solomon. Her first Off-Broadway musical, Violet, written with Brian Crawley, received the 1997 New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award and opened on Broadway in spring 2014. Her

most recent, Fun Home (lyrics, Lisa Kron) made its premiere at the Public Theater. A Blizzard on Marblehead Neck, an opera with a libretto by Tony Kushner, was featured at the Glimmerglass Festival in 2011, and her opera The Lion, The Unicorn, and Me (libretto, J. D. McClatchy) premieres at the Kennedy Center in December. She composed the music for the New York Shakespeare Festival’s production of Mother Courage, directed by George C. Wolfe, translated by Mr. Kushner. Music for other plays include John Guare’s A Free Man of Color for Lincoln Center Theater and Romeo and Juliet, a gala reading, with Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline. I want to support the Friends of Musical Theatre with a gift of $ _______________

For online giving, visit www.giving.umich.edu, e-mail Ellen Kettler at [email protected], or call 734-763-9769School of Music, Theatre & Dance • Development Office • 2005 Baits Drive • Ann Arbor, MI 48109-2075

ME: 1016

FRIENDS OF MUSICAL THEATRE supports the Department of Musical Theatre by providing vital discretionary support for scholarships and hosting artists to work with U-M students. Additionally, the annual Senior Showcase in NYC, a crucial component for introducing the senior MT class to industry professionals, is made possible by donations from Friends of Musical Theatre.

The Department of Musical Theatre counts on annual gifts from Friends members to maintain the high caliber of educational enrichment each year. Gifts of any size are welcome. The U-M fiscal year is counted July 1 to June 30, so renewed support each year is vital to keeping your Friends of Musical Theatre membership current.

The benefits of joining Friends of Musical Theatre include a priority ticket purchasing period for SMTD productions; invitations to musical theatre events, including the Fall Welcome Back reception and Lost in Ann Arbor cabaret; recognition in the main stage production program; and Department of Musical Theatre email updates. The greatest benefit is playing a major role in the education, enrichment, and success of the musical theatre students.
