Diocesan Lenten Charities Bishop Alan asks that the charities we support this Lent are – Cenacolo: which helps young people to come off drugs and to learn a new trade or profession and; Aid to the Church in Need: specifically for its work among refugees in Syria and Iraq. It is recommended that we each have an alms box for these charities in our homes. Wednesday Evening: There will be no Confessions, Evening Prayer and Mass here at St Walstan's on Wednesday evening of this week (April 1st) as the Chrism Mass is at the cathedral at 7.00pm. There will be no confessions next Wednesday evening, either (April 8th), although there will be Evening Prayer and Mass as usual. Good Friday Stations of the Cross: On the evening of Good Friday, at 7 o'clock, Fr. David will lead us in the Mater Desolata. Sometimes called 'the Stations in reverse' we will retrace Mary's steps as she returns to Jerusalem following Jesus's burial in the tomb.

Better late than never: the 2015 Diocesan Year Book has finally arrived and is on sale in the porch for a special reduced price of £2.00.

Bible Study Group: Although we won't be meeting again until after the Garden Room is finished, you may like to know that the next book we will be looking at is the Letter to the Ephesians.

Early Mass for Lent: As in previous years, there is an early Mass (7.00am) each Monday during Lent. Mass will be followed by a simple breakfast in the presbytery.

UCM – the next meeting is on Tuesday 7th April in the Baptist Church Hall, the street at 10:45am. Our speaker is Mrs. Paula Hughes of Lifeboats in East Anglia. All are welcome. Also the next cake and jam stall is on Sunday 12th April in the porch after Mass. All proceeds to our charities.

Beatification News - Archbishop Oscar Romero will be beatified May 23rd, in San Salvador. My husband Alan Bushell is running London Marathon on 26th April 2015 in aid of HCPT. Last year as a family we experienced first-hand the work that HCPT does by travelling to Lourdes and volunteering with Group 512. Alan who is not a catholic was inspired by the work that HCPT does and the enjoyment that this brings to those who are sick and disabled. Alan would like to continue to support the good work that HCPT does by raising much needed funds. Please visit www.virginmoneygiving.com/alanbushell . Or if you would prefer to give a cash donation please give to me, Adele, Chris Potter or Mrs Joyce Potter. Thank You!

Garden Room: The work to extend the Garden Room has started. With luck, it should take about 12 weeks. Obviously, the Garden Room is out of action during this time. Please note that for the build there will be no access to the office and sacristy via the side door. Access for the moment will be via the house. If you feel you need a key, please speak to Fr David or Deacon Bill.

Garden Room Updates: If you aren't on Facebook and would like to see the photos of progress on the Garden Room, just enter 'Guerin Construction Facebook' into a search engine (such as Google) and you will be taken to the page.

Car Park, etc.: Part of the main car park will be out of use for the duration of the Garden Room build as it is needed for stacking materials to be used or disposed of. Would parents in particular please note that the area behind the Easter Garden is also part of the building site and so should not allow their children to play in that area. Thank you.

Pledges: would you like to turn £1000 into £2500? ~ It’s simple! ~

A parishioner has offered to match donations of £1000 (maximum 5) for the Garden Room extension. If both donations are Gift Aided then your £1000 becomes £2500 for the funds! Contact Fr David or Deacon Bill.

A Date for your Diary

Fr David is performing a new version of his one-man show in
