FLM Course Structure TAS Training has designed an 8-Day interactive, stimulating and enjoyable training program. The program is designed to utilise the existing skills and knowledge of participants through group and individual activities along with expert guidance from the facilitator. Participants are encouraged to align their responses to activities to their specific industry - thereby adding depth to their learning and that of other participants. Participants with a variety of expertise and experiences are expected to attend the FLM program. The structure of the program includes one (1) day per week over ten (10) weeks, incorporating a two (2) week break between days 4 and 5. During the break participants will begin work on their Post-course Project. Course dates will be advertised on our website and are expected to be offered approximately 2-3 times per year (depending upon demand). Courses will run with a minimum of 5 participants. Participants will be kept fully informed with updates for enrolments to ensure they are able to re-schedule if needed.

Our Trainers We have very qualified and experienced trainers (see our trainer’s qualifications and experience at http://www.tastraining.com.au/team.php). The wealth of knowledge and expertise participants will be exposed to will ensure that they take home, not only the new skills required for the qualification, but a broad range of additional information. With participant enrolments limited, each participant is ensured of an optimal learning opportunity with personal contact with the trainer. We also offer all participants with individual coaching (by telephone or email - as required, during and after the course) as well as access to a range of templates and other training resources designed by our principle trainer. Ongoing support is offered to participants at any time with the completion of the project. Where a participant may require face-to-face support or coaching, a small fee may be applied (capped at $250). Course Details This is a Nationally Recognised Qualification which requires the successful completion of all in-course activities and a Post-course Project (formative and summative assessments). Where assessments are incomplete, a Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be issued for all successfully completed Units of Competence (UoC), however with our guidance and coaching designed to assist participants to successfully complete all assessment requirements we can assure you receive the best opportunity to complete the qualification. For participants requiring support to complete the Post-course Project (or for participants unable to attend the full program initially booked) we also allow (re)attendance to a later program (again for a small fee capped at $250 and where seats are available). Individuals will also be considered for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and for the completed or part of this qualification upon the successful assessment of supporting evidence. Participants holding a qualification or SOA from another RTO will be provided with credit for aligned to the program. An RPL kit will be provided for participants requesting this option.

Note - any additional fees will be discussed and applied in accordance with the customised plan and the individual’s requirements. Details of Assessments

Formative Assessments

To satisfy the full assessment for the BSB40812 Certificate IV in Frontline Management, the completion of a Post-course Project is required. This project consolidates the outcomes of several of the units and meets the requirements for three units (i.e. to satisfy the critical aspects of evidence that cannot be completed through the face-to-face program). The project is both a summative assessment and demonstration of the transfer of learning from the course. Participants are expected to complete all activities (formative assessments) conducted throughout the eight (8) day program. Where a participant is unable to attend, or misses, part of the program, they will be expected to re-attend (through a subsequent course) or (if and where possible) to complete the work missed in addition to the Post-course Project (determined on an individual basis). Formative assessments include many group and individual activities recorded in a Participant Workbook. Tasmanian Training Institute retains all workbooks for validation purposes, however participants may elect to take the workbook with them to assist in the completion of the Post-course Project under the strict provision that they return the workbook (prior to or with) the submission of their Project. If a participant does not return their workbook their assessment will be compromised and they may be required to re-submit part of, or the entire, workbook.

Summative Assessments

The Post-course Project is expected to be completed in the participant’s workplace (using template examples provided by TTI or specific industry documentation). As mentioned, coaching and support is available for participants to complete the Post-course Project. Projects are expected to be submitted within 8 weeks of the end of the face-to-face course (with a final limit of 12 months for completion - including extensions). Where participants do not complete the Post-course Project (within the required timeframe - extenuating circumstances notwithstanding) Tasmanian Training Institute will issue a SOA (Statement of Attainment) for the units completed during the face-to-face component of the course. The project (in brief) requires that you Devise a Plan to Improve the Operation of your team, department or organisation. The plan is to be Implemented in your workplace if possible (or a simulated workplace) and documented. You are to organise a learning environment to train the relevant people (involved in your plan) to ensure the implementation of the new system is successful. Lastly, you must review and report upon the success of the implementation of your plan. Participants enrolled in (or requesting information about) the FLM program will be provided with the Project Instruction document, which includes templates, guidance for completion and instructions for submission. Participants may also be provided with alternative options to complete the project (see below).

Criteria Linked to the Project The project requires a participant to demonstrate how they:

! Identified a workplace issue (existing / new problem / system improvement etc.) ! Consulted with relevant people (i.e. team, management, *WHS people etc.) ! Devised a Plan for improvement (format flexible - i.e. email / documented plan / submission etc.) ! Analysed and documented legal and WHS aspects that may apply (*in consultation with experts etc.) ! Setup and Trained relevant personnel to be involved in the plan (organised a learning environment) ! Implemented the Plan (or mock / trial implementation where restrictions apply) ! Provided Leadership in the application of the plan (managed the team etc.) ! Recorded the outcomes against the Organisation’s Operational Plan (in any format), and ! Submitted an Evaluation of your improvement plan (whether mock or actual).

Participants must also demonstrate:

! *Knowledge of Legal responsibilities of Managers, Supervisors, PCBUs or their Officers and workers in the workplace must be demonstrated.

! (PCBU - Persons Conducting Business or Undertaking).

Project Options: ! There may be an existing improvement or project that you have initiated, or been involved in, and

which will satisfy the requirements of the project (providing you document and report the process). ! Where your workplace situation will not provide for the implementation of an actual or trial of an

operational improvement plan - you may be able to use a role-play or mock setting and still meet the requirements of the project (as determined by TTI in consideration of individual circumstances).

Ideally - the improvement to the operational aspects will be best satisfied by a short-term goal (i.e. improvement of a process or procedure within your team - and that can be applied to operational processes). The process or improvement chosen, is not stipulated - you may choose any aspect of the business (TTI will provide guidance for individuals to ensure their program will suit the requirements). Of course - if you are already working on a project or plan, whether large or small (and you can authenticate that you performed the tasks that align to those mentioned below) then you may submit supporting documentation for that project. Along with a supervisor’s authentication signature, your existing plan may satisfy part, or all, of your final assessment (again TTI will consult with individuals to ensure best fit). If you wish to use an existing process you are involved in and are unsure if it would be suitable, please contact us at TAS Training to discuss. Where possible we can customise the project to meet your industry requirements. Participants are encouraged to complete the Post-course Project within eight (8) weeks post-course, but may take up to 12 months to complete. After 12 months has elapsed, a Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be issued. All project documentation should be submitted electronically (however hard copy is acceptable). During the face-to-face course participants will begin working on the Post-course Project with the remaining sections demonstrating application and transfer of learned skills and knowledge.

Participants may also be provided with alternative options to complete the project (where applicable) with as much flexibility as possible. Where a participant does not complete the Post-course Project (within the timeframe - extenuating circumstances aside) Tasmanian Training Institute will issue a SOA for the units completed. Participants may be able to re-train at a later date at a customised program to suit (within a reasonable timeframe and upon application). Post-course Project Mapping This project holistically addresses three units (as outlined in the mapping table below):

1. BSBMGT402A Implement Operational Plan 2. BSBMGT401A Show Leadership in the Workplace, and 3. BSBFLM511B Develop a Workplace Learning Environment.
