Change For Chess Judith and Timmy Cusack visited two Primary

Schools in Uganda to teach Chess to the Students & Faculty. Here are their stories:

St. Lawrence Primary School:

Since our departure from Uganda we have been THRILLED to learn that the Change For Chess Program has flourished at St. Lawrence Primary School. The Club has grown to over 50 Students along with several additional Teachers. The Program is looking to add an additional Chess Teacher to help train the young learners at St. Lawrence Primary School.

Progress Report: Change For Chess Program Director Morish Ogwang had the opportunity to visit St. Lawrence where he participated in a Chess Class and had the opportunity to play Chess with a few LUCKY Learners!! ;-)

St. Joseph’s Primary School: Thanks to Dr. Florence Ibale, we were able to send some additional supplies to Learners at St. Joseph’s. Dr. Ibale delivered additional Chess Sets, Learning Materials, Score Sheets, Medals, Picture Books & that BEAUTIFUL Picture Blanket the Students are holding up in the picture to the Right!! THANKS Dr. Ibale!! ;-)

Progress Report: The Students at St. Joseph’s Primary School are lucky to have a hard working & dedicated Head Teacher in Mr. Lawrence Katabaazi. Due to Mr. Ogwang’s guidance and constant updating on Facebook, we are able to see the growth of their program online through his Posts. The Change For Chess Club hasgrown to over 60 Learners and they have also added 5 additional teachers. GREAT WORK Mr. Katabaazi & Mr. Ogwong!!

Masters. We are not looking to find the next Phiona Mutesi or Bobby Fischer. Here at Change For

Chess, we are about giving every child hope and the

opportunity to develop themselves as individuals and critical thinkers first. If these young Learners then take the skills they learn from playing Chess with us and go into business, sports, education, entertainment, whatever, it doesn’t matter. Of course, there will be a few who will go on to become strong chess players, but it’s the larger number of Learners who do not that Change For Chess is and should

be focusing its efforts on. It is focused on ‘Teaching the Teachers’. ”

Letters From Uganda Here are a few of the Letters we received form the

Students at St. Joseph’s Primary School

We were VERY Excited to hear that Dr. Ibale would be returning to the US with an envelope of letters written by Change For Chess Program members from St. Joseph’s Primary School.

The Learners took GREAT care in wording and designing these wonderful letters, including all the BEAUTIFUL Artwork included. The Children show a desire to learn and the ambition to one day become “Grand Mothers” (Grand Masters!?!?) in Chess!! ;-) I LOVE IT!! ;-)

Loomz 4 Love Fundraiser We are VERY PROUD of our daughter Judith’s accomplishment of becoming a Sponsor for a Student at St. Joseph’s Primary School. She has made money creating and selling Rainbow Loom Bracelets through her own Loomz4Love Program and is now the PROUD Sponsor of P-6 Student Brenda Nakkaba!!

Dr. Ibale’s Visit to Uganda During her visit to Jinja, Uganda Dr. Florence Ibale volunteered to bring a 70lb suitcase full of Change For Chess Supplies with her to Uganda. What a BUSY Year 2013 Has Turned Out To Be!

in some WONDERFUL Programs and Activities, but we noticed that there was not a Chess Club in 4-H. We decided to Change that, so we started the Change4Chess 4-H Club with the Monmouth County 4-H.

The Change4Chess 4-H Club meets at 5:30PM every 3rd Monday at the Monmouth County Library on Rte. 35 in Shrewsbury, NJ.

Being involved with 4-H has been a BLESSING for us here at Change For Chess, as they have provided us with the MUCH NEEDED structure for handling the EVERYDAY procedures of a Non-Profit!!

There ever GROWING presence in Africa was one of the BIGGEST reasons why we decided to join forces with them. Due to some personnel issues we won’t really start operating at full strength until early 2014, but the FUTURE IS BRIGHT!!

2013 has been a VERY BUSY year for us here at Change For Chess, Inc. We began the year as just an idea in the back of the mind of Founder Timothy S. Cusack that took shape and action to become the young growing Organization we are today. We visited Uganda with our friends over at ChangeALife Uganda (CALU) to teach Chess at St. Lawrence Primary School. The trip ended up being SO MUCH MORE then just that and we actually taught Children from 3 Different Schools!!

The Experience was So REWARDING that we decided to branch off and start our own Non-Profit Organization. In mid-October the family and I decided to take the next steps on the philanthropic path and Change For Chess, Inc. was born!!

Our daughter Judith was so moved by the situation in Uganda that she began Fundraising to help Sponsor a child of her own through her Loomz4Love Project and was able to Sponsor her own Child!!

One of the main catalysts behind this decision was our affiliation with CALU as well as our GROWING relationship with 4-H. As members of 4-H, our children have participated
