A Prayer for Patriot’s Day: We Place in Your Loving Arms

God of love we place in your loving arms the thousands of innocent lives that were

lost on that unforgettable morning of September 11, 2001. We also remember the

courage of the countless men and women who put their lives at risk in order to res-

cue, alleviate and bring solace to the afflicted. Help us to continue to work for a

world free from every form of hatred, violence and ignorance. May terrorism -- in

all its forms -- disappear from the face of the earth. Amen. - Fr. AlbertoCutie

us to be your hands and feet where we are, to love as you love us and to pray for

those in need so that You are honored and glorified. Be with us as we discover

Don’t Forget Your Baby Bottle! On the weekend of September 16th & 17th, St. Dominic parish will be hosting a Baby Bottle Fundraiser to benefit The Life Center of Long Island. The Life Center is a crisis pregnancy center that counsels women and men who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. Did you know that they provide: free pregnancy tests maternity housing with eligibility

requirements medical care referrals cribs car seats diapers …and all other baby items that may be needed

We are asking that you pick up a baby bottle and fill it with your change. (Make checks out to the Life Center of L.I.)

Please return the bottles next week, or no later than october 1st

Most importantly, we are asking you to recite the prayer on the bottle. The prayer attached to the bottle will enable the counselors at The Life Center to say just the right words a mother or father may need to hear. It especially opens a mother’s heart to accept the truth. We believe these prayers lead abortion-minded women to call The Life Center in the first place.

Let us pray with our whole heart for the lives of our unborn children.

GOLDEN WEDDING LITURGY

This fall, couples that have been married fifty years or more will be honored at

liturgies on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Church of St. Rose of Lima in Mas-

sapequa and on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Church of Christ the King in

Commack. Both liturgies will begin at 2:30pm. Couples may register for ONE

liturgy. Registration forms and complete instructions can be obtained at the rec-

tory. Registration must be received by the Office of Worship by October 9th for

the October 22nd liturgy and by November 6th for the November 19th liturgy.

There will be additional celebrations in the spring for those who may find that

more convenient. Dates for the spring celebrations will be communicated at a

later time. If you have any questions you may call 516-678-5800, ext.207.

There will be a second collection this weekend, Sept. 10th, for the Catholic University of America. It is the pontifical univer-sity of the Catholic Church in the United States and the only institution of higher education founded by the U.S. Catholic bishops. Many of our diocesan priests have studied and had formation at CUA & Theological College. Please be as gener-ous as your means allow.

TRAINING:

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF

HOLY COMMUNION

Your presence as a lay minister of the Eucharist at our Masses is a symbolic and

concrete reminder that, as Baptized Christians, we are empowered to share Christ

with one another-whether literally at the Eucharistic table or daily in the many ways

we are called to offer Christ’s love through our compassion and concern for each

other.

PLEASE CONSIDER THIS IMPORTANT MINISTRY

BISHOP BARRES ASKS FOR PRAYERS

suffering from the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey. Bishop Barres has au-

thorized a special collection be taken up the weekend of September 16-17th.

Checks given through the parish should read “Hurricane Harvey” on the memo

line. Checks can be made out to the parish or to the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

A PRAYER FOR VICTIMS OF

HURRICANE HARVEY

Dear Father in Heaven,

We worship and praise You for who You are; our Father who cares for each one of us always. We turn to-

ward You now with trust and hope for our brothers and sisters in Christ affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Stretch forth Your hand, Lord, and bless all those who have been impacted by this storm. Thank you for the

first responders who risk their lives to save others. Thank you for the many, many people of good will, eve-

ryday heroes who have rescued and assisted the victims and their families. God of mercy and compassion,

please protect all who are still in danger, bring to safety those who are missing and give solace to their fami-

lies. Please embrace in a special way the elderly, the sick, the homeless, and those without support or re-

sources.

Loving Father, we ask this in the name of Your Son, Jesus, who calmed the storms on the Sea of Galilee

with one word.

Amen
