`
Congratulations to Jazmin Brown who competed in the Lions Youth of the Year Quest on Thursday 20th February 2014. The competition involved an application form, interview with Lions’ members, giving a 5 minute prepared speech and two 2 minute impromptu speeches. Jazmin came second with only 2 points between the overall winner and herself. The judges were very impressed with the substance of Jazmin’s prepared speech and her delivery. Jazmin, her mother and grandfather received a meal at the Women’s Club and Jazmin received a Certificate for herself and the school. Well done Jazmin, we are very proud of you!

The North West NSW University Showcase On Tuesday February 18
th 2014 all Year 11 and 12 students were informed about University as a possible tertiary
training option. They found out how to apply, the costs involved, accommodation options and how life at university differs from school life. The then had the opportunity to gather booklets and talk to representatives from the following institutions: The University of New England, Southern Cross University, Charles Sturt University, Griffith University, Bond University, the University of the Sunshine Coast and TAFE (for those students not considering university). The representatives said that they were asked lots of excellent questions and that students’ had done a lot of research.
General Career Information: full news at www.moreesecondarycollegecareers.com under “Newsletter (website)” Term 1 Week 4. Don’t forget to “like” it on face book and to also register for the Push Messaging system straight to your mobile phone or iPad. Tax File Numbers for School Students The easiest way to get a TFN is through your school. By applying through your school you don’t have to provide documents to prove your identity, because the school verifies this. However, you will still need to include on your application form some details from your Australian birth certificate or Aust citizenship certificate or overseas passport. If you don’t have a TFN you could have more tax withheld from your pay, or be unable to receive the government benefits you are entitled to such as Youth Allowance. Year 10 Careers classes will be receiving a TFN application form in their lessons throughout the term. Year 11 and 12 students requiring a form please see Mrs Cayirylys for one.
