Contents Page Guide

This is the colour scheme I have been using throughout my work. I will be using these colours in the fonts and banners for example, on my contents page to keep the corporate look of my magazine.

I began by creating the top banner for the Contents title. I decided that this looked bold and stood out on the page. I included the typical convention of the writing being on the left hand side of the page and also the date of the issue below.

I then experimented with the headers. I looked at NME magazine as they use black headers with white writing which really stand out.

This is what I used to experiment with colours and backgrounds and text fonts and colours.

I then created three more headers and located them on the right hand side of the page. I made the page numbers blue (a corporate colour) which stand out, and then created names for each article. I made the article titles bold and capitals to catch the reader attention.

I then put in the necessary images. I noticed that magazine contents pages use four or more images. I tried to use a range of images, all of which are my own photography. I then added bigger page numbers for the articles.

These are the page numbers I used. They are bold and stand out against the images. This is so the audience knows where to go for a particular article having seen the image.

Put together, I think my contents page is simple with a good layout. It isn’t too fussy and has the necessary conventions. I used InDesign for the whole process.
