The T4BH is designed for multi-pass, high pressure, DTHdrilling. The ruggedand reliable T4BH features a 25 ft (7.6 m) tower and can drill a 2216" (6.8 m)clean hole in a single pass, while multi-pass drilling can reach to a totaldepth of 14716" (45 m) through a 5 rod carousel.

TheAtIas copco T4BH is synonymous with mobility, power, performance, and productivity. Mounted on a custom carrier, the T4BH

is designed to perform in rough terrain and has been the leading blasthole drill in its class in the quarry and mining industries for over

35 years. The T4BH is a truck mounted, hydraulic tophead drive, specifically designed for DTH high pressure blasthole drilling.

An optional 30 ft (9.1m) tower is also available with the 8 x 4 carrier option.

Tower and feed system

Raising the tower with a full complement ofup to five 25 ft (7.6 m) drill pipes in the car-ousel can be accomplished in less than oneminute. The tower is raised and lowered bytwo hydraulic cylinders. Tower pinning, pipechanging and drilling are performed remo-tely from within the operator's cab. The feedsystem is powered by two hydraulic feedcylinders that raise and lower the rotaryhead smoothly and positively by way ofheavy duty feed chain for pulldown andpullback. The high-speed feed functions in-crease drilling efficiency and give the oper-ators faster drill feed rates. Standard rota-

tion'on the T4BH is supplied by a hydraulicrotary tophead. The rotary head is mountedto the feed chains by way of a mountingplate and two pins on both sides of thehead, allowing the head to "float". Thishelps to prevent thread wear or damageduring joint make up.

Rotary or DTHdrillingThe T4BH is designed to handle 4" (102 mm) to 7.(178 mm) drill pipes and can be used for DTHor ro-tary drilling of holes with diameters from 5 %" (143

mm) up to 9 ~. (251 mm). Three different high pres-sure compressors can be provided for the T4BH,ranging from 900 cfm up to 1,250 cfm. The "on-off"regulation system of the high pressure compressorcan remove load during non-drilling operations. Thisextends compressor life, saves energy and providesan easier startup. With a weight on bit force of up to30,000 Ibf (133 kN), the reliable T4BH is well matchedfor rotary drilling as well.

Operator comfortAll operational functions are controlled from the driller's console within

the cab of the T4BH. The operator has an excellent visibility with an unob-structed view of the drill table. The cab is thermally insulated, sound-attenuated, heated, ventilated and is equipped with tinted safety glass,kick plates, an adjustable swivel seat, and two lockable doors. A six-lighthalogen night lighting system is provided as standard for operator visi-bility under low light operating conditions. External 70-watt halogenlights illuminate each of the following components: Power pack, towerand drill table.

Heavy duty conceptThe T4BH in-line drive train consists of a diesel engine directly cou-pled to a compressor on one end and a hydraulic pump drive on theother. This configuration maximizes mechanical efficiency. The T4BHis built with a "floating" engine sub base which aids in isolation of theengine and mainframe from shock loads, while also maintaining opti-mal engine alignment. A heavy-duty engine silencer/muffler is alsoprovided to reduce power pack noise emission. Separate air inletcleaners are standard for both engine and air compressor intake. Cool-ers for the hydraulic oil, compressor oil, and diesel engine coolant areprovided. All coolers are mounted side by side in one package andeach section can be individually removed for easy maintenance. TheT4BH utilizes a custom built, 3-axle carrier designed to Atlas Copcospecifications. The rigid 16 in. "H" beam frame provides a solid base tohandle tough blasthole drilling conditions.

Efficient drill pipe handlingThe carousel drill pipe changer is part of the tower assembly and is lo-cated on the outside of the tower frame. The tower is raised and lowered

by two hydraulic cylinders. Tower pinning and pipe changing is performedremotely from within the operator's cab. Breaking pipe joints are done bya hydraulic positioned sliding fork wrench with limited impact, that mini-mizes shock loads on the tower, carousel, rotary head and feed components.Hydraulic cylinders swing the carousel into and out from the loading positionunder the rotary head. A hydraulic cylinder and ratchet rotate the carousel toindex the drill pipe under the rotary head for changing. An exclusive "key lock"carousel design securely locks in the drill pipe at both the bottom and the top ofthe carousel to ensure maximum safety for drill pipe storage and changing. Anauxiliary hoist with a capacity of 2,500 Ibf (11.1 kN) is provided as standard fordrill pipe and accessory handling.

Angle drilling packageThe two optional 20 and 30degree angle drill packagesallows the tower to be positi-oned from vertical in 5 degreeincrements. Both packagesinclude a drill rod supportand an angle drill tie bar.All controls are located at thecontrol console inside the cab.

Remote PropelWhen positioning the T4BH fromhole to hole, this option allows theoperator to tram the drill rig from thedrilling cab console inste,adof themain truck cab. Included are clutch,accelerator, brake, steering andignition switch.

Central Lubrication

The optional automatic centralmachine lube system has an airpump and timer that provideslubrication to all non-travelinggrease points on the machinethrough metered injectors. Thecentralized manifold or hand

pump option are other alternatives.

Water injection systemThe water injection systeminjects a regulated quantityof water into the air flow

going to the drill pipe. Thewater content suppresses thedust created by the drillingoperation.

The Atlas Copco DM45 is a crawler mounted, hydraulic tophead drive, multi passdrilling rig. Featuring a 30 ft (9.1m) drill pipe change and a 5 rod carousel it isspecifically designed for production blasthole drilling to depths of 175 ft (53.3 m).

The rugged and highly productive DM45 is used for blasthole drilling at all kinds of mining operations around the world.

Feed pressure generates a bit load force of up to 45,000 Ibf ( 200 kN) and utilizes a diesel engine to drive the air compressor

and hydraulic system. Sevemllow and high pressure compressoraltematives are available for the DM45 series, making itsuitable for a variety of rotary and DTH drilling applications.

--,--I Rotary or DTH drilling

The DM45 is designed to handle 4% in. up to 7 in.drill pipes. For the low pressure version, DM45 LP.110 psi (7.6 bar) can be used for rotary drilling ofblastholes up to 9 in. (229 mm) in diameter. On thehigh pressure version, DM45 HP.350 psi (24 bar)can be used for up to 6% in. DTH hammers andmax 8 in. bit diameter. The DM 45 in-line drive

train, consists of a diesel engine directly coupledto a compressor on one end and a hydraulic pumpdrive on the other end. This configuration maxi-mizes mechanical efficiency and the "floating" subbase isolates the components from shock loads,and maintains the alignment. The .on-off" regula-tion system of the high pressure compressor canremove load during non-drilling operations. This isextending compressor life, saving energy and pro-viding easier startup.

Tower and pipe handling

Raising the tower with a full complementof drill pipes in the carousel and under therotary head can be accomplished in lessthan one minute. The carousel-type drillpipe changer is part of the tower assemblyand located on the outside of the tower

frame. Tower pinning and pipe changingis performed remotely from the operator'scab. Breaking pipe joint is done by a hy-draulic positioned sliding fork wrenchwith limited impact, that minimizes shockloads on the tower, carousel, rotary headand feed components. A hydraulic motorrotates the carousel to index the rotaryhead for changing. Standard rotation onthe DM45 is supplied by a rotary tophead.Two hydraulic motors power the rotationof the head. A replaceable 29" spindle. adapter between the spindle and the drill-pipe is furnished as standard equipment,

Operator comfortAll operational functions can be controlled &omthe drillers console in thecab. The operator has an excellent visibility with an unobstructed view ofthe drill table. The wrap-around drilling console places the heavy-dutyelectric over hydraulic controllers within easy reach. The cab is ther-mally insulated, pressurized, heated, ventilated and equipped with tintedsafety glass. It has an ergonomic seat with seat belt, and can be enteredthrough two hinged and lockable doors. The FOPS certified cab has anintegrated air conditioning system and a sound abatement tested at80 dBA. A six-light halogen night lighting system is provided as stan-dard for operator visibility under low light operating conditions.

Efficient feed systemThe DM45 closed-loop hydrostatic feed system is powered by twohydraulic feed cylinders that raise and lower the rotary head smooth-ly and positively by way of cable for pulldown and heavy-duty feedchain for pullback. A gauge on the operator's console indicates feedpressure. Single-lever operation of feed speed and direction gives theoperator greater ease of operation. This simplified control also pro-vides faster feed and retract speeds. The system .Qperatesmore effi-ciently than other designs due to lower flows and the resulting re-duced pressure drop. This enables the pumps to operate in the moreefficient portion oftheir performance curves.

A mobile and stable platformThe DM45 utilizes an excavator-type undercarriage, built to Atlas Copcospecifications. Tracks are driven by a planetary gear syststem and twohydraulic motors rated at 111hp (83 kW) each. The Atlas Copco designedDM45 main kame is a weld fabrication of rectangular tubing, verified bydynamic strain gauging. A "walking beam" oscillation yoke allows the rig to

Angle drilling packageTwo optional angle drillingpackages are available. The20 degree and the 30 degreeangle drill package forpositioning the tower &omvertical in 5 degree incre-ments. Both packagesinclude a drill rod support,and an angle drill tie bar.

Dust controlTwo optional sizes of dry dustcollectors are available for theDM45. The dust collector iscontrolled by a hydraulic vanemotor and come with dust hoodcurtains that are rectangular split,and have a hydraulically retractable&ont curtain. Another option is theWater Injection System.

Fast service systemFast Service system with groundlevel, quick connect fittings for filland evacuation of fuel, hydraulicoil, engine coolant, receiver tankoil, and crankcase oil is an availableoption for the DM45. Anotheroption for fuel only quick fill isalso available.

EARS

The optional Electronic AirRegulation Control System(EARS) is designed todeliver variable air volumecontrol while still main-taining constant air pressure.This allows for a reductionin power needed, andsavings in fuel consumption.
